Don’t worry it’s not as it sounds.
Went to bed last night and started scrolling through the channels on my tv when I came across a programme called ā€œthat’s Oldiesā€ on ITVBe+1 playing 60’s and 70’s music.
Thought it would be on for an hour but it’s still playing if anyone is interested.
I’ve dozed off and on throughout the night with it on and I’ve been entertained with such goodies as
Small Faces
Tom Jones
Blondie
Gene Pitney
Johnny Cash
Abba
Led Zeppelin
America
Sammy Davis Junior
Marmalade
Dave Dee Dozy Beaky Titch
Herman and the Hermits
Oh and loads more I can’t name them all but as I said in my title ā€œI’ve had the most amazing night. šŸ˜
A trip down memory lane.

OH sometimes listens to a Swedish radio station ( can't remember it's name) but it's really good, lots of UK music from 70's/80's and beyond but easy listening......he says it's nice as he can't understand Swedish so there's no bad news lol !!!!

We listen to Gold Radio 60/70/80, we play it on our Alexa while we have our meals and in the Car when out and about, I love singing along to the oldies, I was a child in 60s but had older siblings and the radio was always playing somewhere in the house, surprising how many songs you know. Love it when they play a selection from a certain year and you have to guess which year they are from.

Romola, I was 15 in the 60's too. it was a great time, I remember going to friday and saturday night dances...
2 shillings to get in on friday, and 2/6 on a saturday and the songs were great

I listen to Sound of the 60’s with Tony Blackburn. On at 6am Saturday morning on Radio 2. I usually listen later through the bbc sounds app on Alexa. It’s a great show.

Oregano

You can also listen to Greatest Hits Radio 60s. I have it on in the car most of the time.

Pixie99 Tue 26-Aug-25 15:05:51

You don’t need Sky, That’s Oldies is on Freeview channel 75

barbyvon67 Tue 26-Aug-25 15:02:53

I recommend Boom Radio on DAB+ or Internet or Al**a, for all the wonderful music from 60s and 70s, with a lot of the former Pirate or radio DJs. Music for Boomers to sing along to, or whatever!

Greciangirl Tue 26-Aug-25 14:40:36

I don’t have a t.v. In the bedroom and wouldn’t want one either.

I do listen to the radio until I feel sleepy.
But always LBC radio. A 24 hour conversation programme.
Topics of the day usually discussed on there.

WelshPoppy Tue 26-Aug-25 14:18:55

Don't forget Boom Radio plays this music as the majority of its content, all introduced by amazing DJs from the time, too.

polnan Tue 26-Aug-25 14:16:16

UK Golf Radio annifrance?

annifrance Tue 26-Aug-25 13:49:18

Love classic UK Golf radio. All 60s and 70s.

Romola Tue 26-Aug-25 13:47:56

I was 15 in 1960, when rock music was taking over. It was an extraordinary time, there was such a buzz in the air.

HiPpyChick57 Mon 25-Aug-25 21:57:15

Love your choices Oreo.
I’m a poor sleeper so I usually have the tv on throughout the night in the background as sometimes voices send me to sleep. Except for last night when I found that music. The sixties stuff from when I was a child. Some id never heard of but all mostly great music.
Quite a few of them I used to play on my dansette record player. Fab days.

Babs03 Mon 25-Aug-25 12:46:49

Babs03 Mon 25-Aug-25 12:46:13

Babs03 Mon 25-Aug-25 12:45:40

Oregano Mon 25-Aug-25 12:28:50

I was dog sitting at my son's on Friday and I found that channel, it was brilliant and I had it on all day!
Unfortunately I haven't got Sky at home so I can't watch it normally.

valdavi Mon 25-Aug-25 12:24:06

Don't always agree with your N & P posts Oreo, but 6 out of 6 with me for the songs smile
