Good morning from a dull northwest coast. My car, which failed its MOT, is going into the garage this morning for the repair to get it through.
I have the usual music club this afternoon and will take a bus. I’m not going to sing as I haven’t prepared anything after being away and also not feeling 100%.
Thoughts to baubles💐

Good morning all and we have dry warm weather here in Essex. I’m a bit jealous of those who have rain.
Of course rain is forecast the end of the week when we go away! 😤.

Yesterday I was very productive. Painted the garden gate, lots of household jobs got done. Once I’m off and running I’m ok - it’s just getting going that’s the problem.

Today I must go to the surgery and order more eye drops and pop in at the charity shop with the stuff I de-cluttered yesterday.

This afternoon I have Bridge club.

Take care all and I hope it’s a better day for all those in sick bay.
FGT 💐.

Good morning all from a cloudy North Leicestershire. Yesterday was glorious.

Up early this morning as I have to collect 2 grandsons. This is our last session of child minding until the next holidays. We really enjoy their company but also get very tired by this end of the holidays. We are very lucky that we have been involved in the lives of all out grandchildren and have good relationships with them.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset has had some overnight rain. The sun should emerge later.

We enjoyed a seat by the sea wall drinking coffee and watching the waves again yesterday morning. Came home via a surprisingly quiet garden centre with some bulbs, lights for the bus shelter and cake for Mr C , his reward for managing with a very sore foot.

Hair cut this morning, laundry, a grocery delivery, paper to tackle and with luck some time outside later.

Hope Monday is kind to us all.

Good morning from damp South Lanarkshire.

It’s the day of my nephew’s funeral, it will be a trial for the family I’m sure.

I wish you all a good day.

Good morning from cloudy and warm s somerset, we had a spattering of rain last night,

On impulse, I cleared all my strawberries out of 9 big troughs. I am growing strawberries on the allotment and will be getting very big crops in future. These at home are ever- bearers and not now worth the effort. I wanted to store the very dry soil as dry soil is lighter and easier to handle. The soil, in 3 trugs, is now in my garage and I will enrich it next year, for the very easy begonias I intend to plant. Another job out of the way with an eye on planning for future droughts

I am going to cut my mini butternut squash when we have the next dry sunny spell. They can ripen on the etageres and I can empty and remove the last metal vegtrug. I will need to move all that soil to my onion bed on the allotment and want to start that while the weather is dry

A lovely day yesterday and a lot of knitting done. I have just moved from size2 needles onto 2.5 and am getting beautiful stitch definition on the gansey, even the lower garter stitch. It looks big but ds is muscular and has a 49 chest, this gansey has ease, 4" of it. I do recommend the yarn called frangipani, beautiful to work with and tightly spun

Today, I am expecting an organic delivery and will be doing just the routine house stuff. Factoring in a walk and then knitting. My beautiful new seed box arrived and I am thinking of planning my seeds soon, no tomatoes in future, not worth the effort, cost, or space in future as I am past making tomato sauces to freeze. Watering pots every day will no longer be necessary.

Perhaps today I will get on with planning my allotment on paper, I never did finish that

Have a good day

Morning all from west Oxfordshire. I thinks it’s raining but haven’t looked outside yet!

Our gardener is coming today but I suppose that depends on the weather.

I have a mountain of laundry and ironing. I didn’t get any of the usual household tasks done while younger son was visiting.

OH is doing lots of things with his bees again. He has hired a machine to extract the honey and will take over two days.

I will be out this afternoon at a friend’s. I may pick some plums from her over-laden tree. OH loves them. We will give her honey in return.

I’m thinking especially of MaryD and the FGT2S. It is a sad and difficult world for some.

Good morning all from Glasgow, where Alexa says its 12°C.
As Kalu says, it has been raining overnight.

This morning I have a joint COPD and cardiac review. Very opporune, as I had another heart episode yesterday and have coughed all night. 😉
However, I fear it is just a tick boxing exercise.
I am still waiting for the respiratory referral that was made at the same review over a year ago. 😔

True to form, DH finished his round of golf in record time yesterday, he was back by 10am. I was all geared up for my empty. 🤣
An unexpected, but pleasant visit from DD and SIL meant the morning passed very quickly.
They came bearing DH's favourite artisan pies from the local pie shop. That's dinner tonight sorted!
A tracker was put on both our phones and when they left, it was working fine.
Later DD messaged to say, that DH's location had disappeared from the map, why am I not surprised. 🤣

As I was moving the empty bins, DH's golfing partner got into the car on the way to hospital for a conference, regarding his transplant. His wife, the Ebay Queen, was in a terrible state, dreading the meeting, because it has been postponed so many times.
Later, I received a message from her, saying things were looking more positive.
I was so happy for them.

I wish you all a pleasant day, safe travels and love to all, who are struggling.
After my appointments, I intend to do absolutely nothing!

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s sunny at the moment but there’s a bank of cloud lurking out to the west. I doubt we’ll get any rain today, but hope for some tomorrow and later in the week. Yesterday was a beautiful sunny warm day with a cool breeze. DD2 and family called in on their way home from their camping weekend.
I’ll have a walk this morning, and see my friend with dementia this afternoon, otherwise a quiet day. My friend’s DH had picked grapes from his vines and borrowed my potato masher to get the juice from the grapes! I may have a glass of grape juice this afternoon instead of coffee!

Thinking of all those struggling for any reason, especially the fgts md, *blossoming and susan. Apologies to anyone I’ve missed.

Have the best day you can everyone.

RosesandLilac Tue 26-Aug-25 07:03:36

Good morning, it’s sort of drizzling here in south Glos, rather pathetic effort so far!
Yesterday I spent nearly three hours in the village school garden, it’s a wonderful place for the children. I had a lovely time weeding, really nice to do something different. There’s plenty for me to do and I’m glad to be able to help. I’ve said that, if the leaders are happy and as I enjoy weeding, I could be responsible for the raised beds so that the lead volunteers can focus on the planning, sowing and teaching the children.
When I returned home I did the washing, which dried nicely in the warm breeze, and all put away. A quiet afternoon and evening.
Today nothing planned apart from the usual routine.
Hugs to all who need them 🤗

Good morning from a warm W Kent. Busy house day yesterday, with no cleaner I thought I better do the kitchen, kept me well occupied. Heard from DB that a lifelong friend of his had a stroke whilst flying over the Pacific Ocean. We are waiting for further news.
Today DGS3 is arriving to do the last of his tennis coaching sessions so we shall have lunch together and chat.
Best wishes to all

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a still grey day in North Yorkshire. I hope that this post gets through and have fingers crossed. Yesterday read the posts, added my missive and pressed enter to add to the list and the flipping thing disappeared into the ether again. Was so mad and had to go out so no time to repeat. Fingers crossed that I have a better start today. I am planning a domestic day today to catch up and sort out some of the chaos.

I was invited out to go to the eden camp on sunday, and as I normally stay at home on sunday, doing jobs and listening to my favourite programmes on the radio, it meant a total change of routine. But that is at least one thing you can do living on your own, just alter plans easily. So we had a very pleasant day out and got to the coast and waited until the traffic had died down before we drove back. That had been a long day and although I had really enjoyed it of course, I had to pay for my pleasures with my back giving me no rest and little sleep etc. So although it was Reeth show on yesterday, I decided discretion was the better part of valour, and took things steadily but went off to a little village show in Snape, not very far from here. The weather was lovely, which I was glad for them as a lot of effort is put in by many people and it is disappointing if they do not get many visitors . So for me a great afternoon there. They had teas in the village hall, an exhibiton of textiles and sewing things, and a second hand book sale which of course I had to rummage through. There was a band playing and when they were having a rest a dj put on a selection of music and not too loud. So was able to sing along with Dolly Parton and folk singers etc etc. There were chairs out on the green and a display of one or two vintage tractors including a little grey fergie, and a couple of highly polished vintage cars. So it was a pleasant afternoon, with little traffic and a lovely run back home through the countryside. Too weary to do much when I got home but did go out and water the plants and the borders, in the hopes that today my back may let me put a few plants in the ground today. We shall sea.

i had beed at Thirsk before going to Snape and called in at the St Teresa Hospice shop which was open. I have a big dresser type thing that was left here when I moved in, and it has been useful, as had even a green baize cutlery drawer etc etc, but I had come to the conclusion that it took up too much space not being used to my best advantage - which surprise surprise - means I really need more bookcase space.
Someone had been keen to have it but found it too big for her house, and had offered it to anyone in the womens group to see if it was useful. But I had forgotten how this particular Hospice shop does quite well with furniture, and as I walked round there were several large furniture pieces with sold on them. So spoke to the lady on the desk and she has given me a phone number for their people who will arrange to pick it up and take it. She seemed very pleased to get it and so we all will be happy. They should get a reasonable price because it is in very good condition and no scratches and a lightish colour which seems to be the vogue at the moment. Only snag is that of course it means I have to empty it all, find somewhere for things to go until I get reorganised, clear the hall of everything and hope they can get it out in one piece, So, the first bit is down to me. No one else can sort out drawers and paperwork etc, and that will have to be my priority this week, but I should be more galvanised into getting on with the job knowing they need it and I can then get a drinks cabinet table thing , that at the moment is languishing in the garage. That can come in, be polished up and all drinks etc put in it and wll give me a top to put magazines or coffee or whatever next to my chair. Well as I have said before, this time of year is a sort of new year to me. Old habits die hard and as colleg would be beginning or schools and new courses, this is a time when mentally i seem able to make plans and be more prepared to chuck things out etc. Who knows by november it might actually be pristine and tidy in here (dont hold your breath!)

So today no great plans, but need a bit of food shopping, go down the bank, and possibly meet a friend for coffee, as we all get back to normal after the bank holidays. Must go through the calendar and check any appointments I have to go to, and have the diabetic check up in a couple of weeks which is sort of the yearly check up. So hoping there has not been much change on that score. So plenty of things to go on with. What I would like to do if it stays dry and warm is get out in the garden, however at the moment not much chance until my back improves, but have had the idea of putting my chair out on the grass, tipping a drawer full of things from the dresser into a black plastic bag and then can sit out their and sort it into two other bags, One will be stuff to be returned eventually to wherever stuff is going to go, and the other I shall shred paperwork up and get rid of things, so combining a job that needs doing with the chance to sit out. My car is also in need of a good sort out. It is quite dirty on the outside, but can stay that way whilst the drought is here. They never seem to announce that with drought restrictions do they? i think there should be an absolute ban on cleaning cars other than the number plate and windows, we could save loads of water for much more important things. So these are the good plans made by mice and men - what actually gets done we shall see. I do need to make an effort as there are some more agricultural small shows which I will hope to go to, and need the picnic box and such like all at the ready. Only a week to go for my favourite Muker show, which has everything I enjoy. Fell races to watch lovely scenery, Muker silver band play very well , wandering round the tents and meeting many old friends. Whilst like many others I am praying for rain, I hope that it is dry for Muker show.

I am pleased to see you are getting going again Mick and hope you have an easy time with the chiropodist and meet up with some friends in Bicester. Pantglas, hope your lawn is perking up with a drop of rain. Due to my malfunctioning laptop I seem to have missed some important posts and dont know what has happened to FGT or Susan. I am sorry if they are having a hard time.Hope you have a pleasant evening with your friend. Ashcombe hope all the trains were running on time for you and you have a safe journey home.Greyduster hope your day goes well. You have reminded me that I havent put ironing on my list for the day either, so will see when there is some good play, or programme on the radio to get cracking on that. Actually I need to have a look at a new iron. Mine is getting old and not doing a very good job, and I have only had it for about 8 years. No value in anything is there? Well have some Tesco points so they can go towards an all singing all dancing new one. What a shame they havent devised an iron that fishes the clothes from the basket and works like the self mowing lawnmower and does it all for you!

Well hope you all have a productive day, whether that is jobs done or having a rest to recuperate from holidays and childminding etc.

Good morning from Cambridgeshire. It was a very warm night here and thank goodness for the ceiling fan. We may get a little rain but forecast mainly cloudy warm 24 degrees. I need to get moving as need to collect the little ones at 9 am they are spending the day with us and we are going to the circus this afternoon and then back here for a bbq where DD2 will join us after work. We thought we would squeeze another one in before the rain arrives tmrw for the rest of the week. I know we need rain but could we delay til children go back to school next week😂

Have a good day everyone

Grandmabatty Tue 26-Aug-25 06:41:15

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 16° and damp. Ashcombe safe journey home.
Yesterday I had three washes out on the whirly, hoovered and hung some paintings before I met friends for lunch. We spent all afternoon chatting and had a lovely catch up.
Today I'll pick up the boys, feed them breakfast then deposit them at school/nursery. After that, I'll head to the furniture shop to arrange delivery of my new rug. Then back home to tidy up and hang some more paintings. I'll pick up the boys after school. Otherwise a quiet day. Have a good day all

Good morning Mick and everyone.
It is wet here in Carmarthenshire. Nothing much to as much as was promised but a sprinkling.
Out this morning with DD and lunch somewhere I expect.
Hope all who have sadness or worries find a little peace

Good Morning everybody. Today's forecast is sunshine & 33c. Yesterday we had the nice surprise of seeing 3 ruby-throated hummingbirds back at our feeder. They stop here for a short spell on their Winter migration South. I plan on making cauliflower soup & baking blueberry scones later on today. I hope the day is kind to all, & esp thinking of FGT & her DH, Marydoll & Blossoming.flowers

Good morning all. Heavy rain this morning and a warm 16deg. in Glasgow.

A much needed soak for the garden, if only I could switch it on when required I could have avoided using the sprinklers last night. Sod’s Law the rain has arrived when painting the white rough cast walls at the side and rear of the house has started after so many dry days. Possibly an at home day, nothing planned.

Best wishes to all for a pleasant day.

Good morning from a grey Bristol. It’s supposed to rain, but I can’t see any sign of it, except that the air feels fresher.
I had a rather agitated night with all sorts of dreams and have only just woken up, so haven’t read any posts yet.
I’m surprised at the popularity of my latest quilt. In fact, a GMmer has asked me to make her one! I shall enjoy going on t’internet and fabric shop choosing her colours today.
Quiet day yesterday as expected. I did some baking for tomorrow’s FAB cafe.
Nothing planned for today except some fabric shopping. I may try to find bits and bobs for the DGD’s advent stocking.
Have a peaceful day. Carpe diem 🦩🦩💐🦩❤️

Good morning from Malta where the sun is coming up on another hot day. 36°C is the forecast.

I set the alarm for 2am to watch Alcaraz v Opelka but when I got up there was still a ladies match in progress followed by some presentation ceremony to recently inducted members of the Tennis Hall of Fame.

I could have had another two hours kip as the match started just before 4am. I was shocked to see all Alcaraz’s gorgeous hair gone but expect it will have grown back before the end of the tournament!

I’m now showered and ready for the boys to be delivered by their daddy.
My two DDs left for Budapest earlier this morning leaving me in charge of boys and little dog.

Thinking of you all and especially the FGTs 💐 ☀️

Good morning all from a very wet start to the day here on the east coast of Fife. I’ve a house full of family sleeping here all night as we’ve a funeral to go to this morning. It’s a good job I’ve a big umbrella, the funeral is a burial so I’ll need the brolly. My lovely GS mowed my lawn yesterday it’s looking great now. Still got lots of weeds though, I’ll need to see to them somehow.

Have a good day thinking of you all

Good morning Mick and everyone from Cheshire, where it's raining. Where did that come from, as the sky was blue last night with a few wispy clouds? It was so hot I sat out in the garden till late in the evening. I watered everywhere, front and back garden and hanging baskets too!

Was late catching up with the sad news from FGT. They have both been courageous in spite of everything. Both very much in my thoughts and prayers.

Not a lot planned for today, except perhaps visit Ikea, but I need to be in the mood for that! I keep putting it off.

Enjoy your day whatever you have planned. Kind thoughts to all with worries. flowers

Greyduster Tue 26-Aug-25 05:55:51

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a cloudy South Yorkshire where I have been awake since the crack of doom! Venus was very large and bright in the pre-dawn sky at half past three this morning🙄!
DS and DiL came yesterday for the day and we had a roast dinner which went beautifully to plan for a change. Afterwards we sat in the garden because it was far too hot to go for a walk. DiL loves the sun, but even she retreated under the sunshade eventually. I had a lovely message and some photos from GS last night, who is still on holiday with his friends. They had forsaken the beach and were hiking in the hills yesterday.
Today I will go to the gym and follow that up with a visit to a nearby park before it gets busy. Then home to do nothing much except ironing and reading.
Have the best day you can folks.
