I have heard this tooAveline about people who know they are unlikely to return. I have been told that some cruise ships carry up to seven coffins. Gruesome thought!
That's the whole point of the Australian ones. If people are lucky their ticket lasts them for ten years - if not, they die in six months, and the costs to the company even out. For people without friends and family there must be worse ways to see out your last days, and visitors are allowed on board for a charge of about £100 a day, so if you do have family you could meet on birthdays and so on.
It's no more gruesome than going into a care home knowing that you won't come out. Both can be good places to be, but the cruise ship is likely to be more luxurious and the weather will be better.
