Anyone else ? We have a southwest lounge and it has been absolutely stifling ! It’s been raining now for a couple of hours, DH and I are having a lazy afternoon with the patio doors open breathing in the lovely cool air.
I’ll probably be moaning in a couple of weeks about weather, but for today at least it’s so refreshing.

Allira Thu 28-Aug-25 12:07:52

It's cool, dry and breezy here.

Rain showers were forecast.
I was hoping not to water.

Hope it stays dry for the wedding, Athrawes but at least you're prepared!

Rosie51 Thu 28-Aug-25 11:38:04

Athrawes so many forecasts are proving to be wrong, hope it works out like that for your granddaughter's wedding and it holds off, at least for the outside parts.

Rosie51 Thu 28-Aug-25 11:36:25

We have rain, real rain not spots! Not sure how long it will last but I knew taking the car to be washed and valeted would do it as the window cleaner hasn't been yet grin And as I type it's stopping already......

Athrawes Thu 28-Aug-25 11:17:44

I don't normally mind rain but my granddaughter is getting married in 2 days time and the weather forecast is not looking good. However I've bought some see-through umbrellas for the bride, groom, bridesmaids and a few other family members which have been gratefully accepted!

We’ve finally had five minutes of heavy rain even though the app is showing ☀️☀️

TheWeirdoAgain60 Thu 28-Aug-25 09:24:47

Good on you, is what I say!

I love the rain, no matter what! I was at work yesterday when it absolutely poured down, as in torrential, such a pity I couldn't stand out in it, I'd have loved getting drenched!

But I don't think my boss would have been pleased having me come in dripping wet and with a saturated uniform!

Gingster Thu 28-Aug-25 07:58:58

I’d just put my washing out , in sunshine I might add.
Ten minutes later , quite a downpour for 5 minutes. It soon dried off.

Ive been longing for rain, but we’re off for a weeks break and rain is forecast every day. ☔️.

We had an absolute deluge which lasted about half an hour - just long enough for me to get drenched walking from the hairdresser to the car 🤬

Same here, and I was carrying shopping! Had to change clothes the minute I got in the house🤬

GrannyIvy Thu 28-Aug-25 07:21:05

Just one heavy shower when out for a walk with a friend after lunch. We sheltered under a tree for a while but in the end dashed to the car got drowned and then it all disappeared. Two bedraggled OAP’s 🤷‍♀️

The rain missed us entirely in our part of Bristol. Today? 🤞🤞
I’m very envious of the wet GNetters!

JamesandJon33 Thu 28-Aug-25 05:28:27

We had a few periods of heavy rain yesterday. It was lovely and noisy in the conservatory as it poured over the roof. Same again today I believe .

We have had really heavy showers all evening in North Bucks. Hopefully the butts are full and I can have a few days without watering the dahlias and pots.
However I have had kilos of tomatoes this summer because of all the sun. The freezer is full if pasta sauce. Still have about 4kg and not sure what to do with them

henetha Wed 27-Aug-25 23:32:23

I was hugely relieved to see heavy rain here today for a while, on the edge of Dartmoor.

Ashcombe Wed 27-Aug-25 22:47:11

Some heavy showers here in Torquay this morning - it was weird to see raindrops on the windows! 💦

Sadgrandma Wed 27-Aug-25 17:35:30

We haven’t had any rain, other than five second dribbles, for at least three months and our poor garden looks like the Sahara desert. To our delight it rained quite heavily this afternoon but then it suddenly stopped after a few minutes. Everything is dry again! Our village duck pond is completely dry. Please Do a rain dance for us.

Please send it down the Solent, Jaxjacky

Jaxjacky Wed 27-Aug-25 16:55:19

I take it all back, two really hefty showers, no thunder, lightning or horsemen grey duster 🙂

What rain?
We had about two spots at lunchtime. ☹️

Oh we did better than you, must have been a full two dozen spots just before lunch grin I was so looking forward to the promised heavy rain and thunderstorms so I didn't have to water the pots tonight.

Aveline Wed 27-Aug-25 16:41:19

Torrential burst of rain just when I had to run to my car parked 10 mins away and I hadn't bothered with jacket. Soaked through and hair plastered down my head. Now bright sunshine.😡

Allira Wed 27-Aug-25 16:40:33

Cabowich

Greyduster

Well we were promised a deluge of biblical proportions today accompanied by T&L (and possibly the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse if they weren’t busy) so I cancelled one of my commitments as I didn’t want to be caught driving in it. We had ten minutes of rain and that was it. I wouldn’t pay weather forecasters in tap washers!

Yep, same here, Greyduster. We didn't even have 10 minutes of rain - just 5 mins in one shower and 30 seconds in another.

My grass, I fear, has burnt to a crisp, and is gone for good.

It will come back, Cabowich
Trust me

If not, I'll ask for my post to be removed! 😁

Witzend Wed 27-Aug-25 16:38:26

Just when I could really do with HOT!! - since washing machine is on the blink and I’ve got an airer with a small hand wash pegged on, there’s no sun, and we’ve had some rain!!
The buggeration factor strikes again….

merlotgran Wed 27-Aug-25 16:36:05

It's been heavy rain now for a good hour. I feel like taking my clothes off and running around in the garden. Not a pretty sight though.

LadyGracie Wed 27-Aug-25 15:57:41

We’re off to North Wales on Friday for a week, rain is forecast every day.
