Housing for first time buyers

It is ok for the Government to tell the councils to build more affordable houses but is it going to be the same as in the 80s when affordable flats were built but most were purchased by developers who then rented them out at extortionate rents are they going to let that happen again.

Yes have heard that private landlords are selling up en masse. Which doesn’t bode well for renters, most will probs be bought by home owners if any can be tempted since the stamp duty hike in April.
The government have wrecked the housing market. Nothing is moving down here in the SE and we are a commuter town into London.
