Its dark but also dry here in Brackley at the present moment .
My usual routine , will get the bus to Bicester do a shop and chat to those I know.
Before and after lunch a double dose of cycling on Tv with the Tour of Britain and the Tour of Spain on TV.
Health OK ,
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning all from a sunny Suffolk coast. The Tour of Britain cycle ride is coming by, near to our village so we might pop along to wave them through. We’ll see our friends there who are/have been keen cyclists.

We had bursts of rain yesterday and the wind was so strong, nearly blew me off my feet as little dog and I walked along the beach. The sea was spectacular and wild. I love it!

Dh had his hair cut by a very thorough charming man. Best haircut he’s ever had and he hasn’t much left 👨‍🦲. Beard trimmed, ears and eyebrows too. Looks like a new man. ♥️.

I’ve ordered more paint stripper for our wooden garden table and chairs . I’ve used everything so far but that paint is hanging on. Any tips Karma? Shabby sheek it ain’t! 😬.

We’ve booked to have a new liner put into our woodburner, next week but we won’t be here. I hope it’s not too disruptive for our kindly neighbour.

I hope you all have a ‘good’ day. 🌼

Morning Mick, morning All from an overcast corner of Somerset.

Weather-wise we are forecast a re-run of yesterday, heavy showers in the morning, some sun in the afternoon. An at home day today, a delivery needing a signature and some work should be happening in the loft 🤞.

Yesterday’s lunch was excellent, a small filled suitcase was welcomed in one charity shop and a bag of handbags in another, just one bag and a suit carrier to go now. Three drawers of tablecloths are next on my list. We have several beautiful linen cloths embroidered by my ma in law who was a superb needlewoman. Still in excellent condition they will of course stay and deserve to be used, some are over 80 years old, several were made for us after our marriage 56 years ago. The rest have just accumulated and many don’t fit the current table. I’m an odd bod, I enjoy no pressure gentle sorting out. Mr C tends to hide with a book and hopes the urge passes quickly.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning from a bright blue sky Black Country (for now)

7 mile walk this morning, as one of my Thursday walking groups do a longer 'Progressive' walk the first Tuesday of the month. I think I will need a nap this afternoon!

gM I agree with others, you need to go to the media. I don't know how much your fees are, but I imagine they are quite hefty, and they are doing zilch for their money. Plus letter to MP, even though he may not do much, it is on record you contacted him. Good luck

Wishing you all he best day possible,

GrannyGravy13 Tue 02-Sept-25 07:39:48

Good morning from S E Essex, we had several bouts of rain yesterday, at the moment we have blue sky, but have rain forecast from 11am onwards.

Only have The Imp, as the 10 ur old had a better offer, (a sleepover with his friend last night, today they will e joy the last day of the holidays I k aging it will involve the X-Box and going out for a bike ride)

Day `8 of the builders, not sure what they are up to today, but it’s looking like we will have to move out of our bedroom in the coming days. No sign of the outside scaffolding, why the didn’t do the exterior work over the summer I shall never know 🤷‍♀️

Good luck with the management committee grandMattie definitely time to go public…

Enjoy the day 🙋‍♀️

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 12°C.

GM, although our homes are freehold, we have a factor, who is supposed to manage the green areas on our estate.
They are absolutely useless.
In the last few weeks, DH has been in contact with them umpteen times about the trees overhanging our roof and bushes protruding onto the pavement.
They will not engage by telephone, only by e chat, a discrimatory tactic, which makes it difficult for those, who are not IT literate.

Yesterday was not a successful day at all. The plumber failed to return my calls, the heart scan was inconclusive and the GP surgery was absolutely incompetent, when I asked about my blood results.
I shall be insisting on a GP appointment this morning!!

DH asked for help, updating You Tube on the lounge TV, two hours later......
I tried everything to sort it only to eventually find he had blocked notifications.
I asked him where the email icon on his phone was, because I was switching between his tablet and his phone.
My phone doesn't do emails, says he. ??????????
It does now! In fact he can now access both his email accounts.

Eventually I managed to update everything, only after discovering that there was no need to make a new account (he denied he had one) and he had blocked the notifications, which is why he wasn't receiving access codes.
Today we (probably me) are going to tackle a Virgin Media issue on the same TV, wish me luck.

In saying that, I have had a particularly painful night and he has brought hot water bottles and a cuppa.
He has redeemed himself. ♥️
An offer of doing the supermarket run has been accepted, I don't really care anymore!

Using my Mary Baker skills, I decided to mke an Eve's pudding with plums yesterday.
Unfortunately the containers weren't deep enough and I had overloaded the fruit mixture.
Not only did we have the pudding, they were skiing on a bed of Victoria sponge. The sponge mixture had overflowed and was all over the tray,😱
Not wanting to waste anything, DH made a coffee and ate some of the spilled sponge, which was covered in fruit syrup, saying it was delicious🤣

Wishing you all a pleasant day and best wishes to all, especially those, who are struggling. It's a day at home for me. I don't feel too good at the moment.

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s a lovely bright sunny morning so far, but a cool 11 degrees. Yesterday we had several very heavy showers and I think the garden is looking fresher.
I felt very shaky yesterday due to my cold, but slept well and feel a bit better this morning, still coughing though. Nothing planned for today, but if the weather permits I may venture into the garden to do some weeding. An ongoing battle unfortunately.

grandmattie a frustrating situation for you, sadly I think it’s fairly common with management companies.

The DGDs are back at school today, the seven year olds are now going into year 3 at a much bigger junior school, a big step for them. The ten year old is now in year 6, last year in juniors.

DD2 is suffering with a painful back, she couldn’t speak to a doctor yesterday, he just prescribed some stronger painkillers! As I have osteoporosis and have had several fractured vertebrae, I’m a bit concerned about her.

Have the best day possible everyone, my thoughts as ever are with those who are struggling for any reason.

ginny Tue 02-Sept-25 07:52:37

Good morning.
Plans were changed yesterday as my friend was poorly and unable to leave home. We spent the day in and around Dartmouth. Lucky with the weather, a fair bit of sun and the rain held off until we were in the car coming back. Today we will be heading for Bigbry and hopefully take the sea tractor over to Burgh Island. Of course plans may change.
Wishing all a good day.

Liberty Tue 02-Sept-25 07:58:08

Good morning from a start to the day with sun in Suffolk. One of my closest friends does an amazing amount of fund raising for the NSPCC and today is hosting a lunch for,I believe, 24.

Although she is over 80,she will do all the cooking herself and it will be delicious. I find now if I cook for one of the AC and their family usually 7, that stretches my culinary abilities although DH offers to help.

About to have a second cuppa and read your posts. I hope all have a pleasant day.

baubles Tue 02-Sept-25 08:07:14

Good morning from drizzly South Lanarkshire.

A busy ish day ahead as I’ve an appointment for eyebrows to be tinted, then charity shop stint followed by yarn group this evening.

DH will visit his brother whose birthday it is today.

Wishes you all a good day.

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 02-Sept-25 08:19:55

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. We had a lot of rain yesterday and more is forecast.

It is the WI coffee morning in the village cafe. It is usually a hoot with the age range from late 40s to 99.

I am having a cortisone injection this afternoon into my left thumb. All being well I’ll visit friends afterwards.

My Royal Academy print is due to be delivered today or tomorrow. I will then take it to the picture framer.

My pc has a virus which I can’t get rid of using two different antivirus things. I’ve contact an it guy I’ve used in the past and hope he gets in touch soon. I have signed up for an online V&A course which starts later this month. It is on teams which I can only get on my pc. My iPad is too old.

Have a good day everyone: I’m so sorry many of us are having difficult times.

Grammaretto Tue 02-Sept-25 08:21:05

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. A nice Autumnal day here.
I was busy yesterday setting up my stall for the weekend with 2 friends. We've added a bric a brac stall to aid my declutterance.

Today yoga and kiln firing.
The electricity goes off tomorrow for yet another attempt to fit a smart meter.

I am sorry you are having such a grim time with management gMattie My MP helped me when I'd reached a stalemate trying to deal with the Scottish Government loan scheme. He wrote one letter and got a result instantly.

Marydoll a pity you haven't made much progress on the health front but your tech skills are superb.

I was sh*t on by a bird yesterday so had to wash my hair and clothes. I was told it was lucky 😂🤣😅
not sure for whom

Have a lovely day everyone.

karmalady Tue 02-Sept-25 08:23:47

GM

That is the BEST advice from Madeleine, top notch as always. I would be sitting down now and making a comprehensive list. Line by line and with white space in between lines so that it does not put off the ones who don`t want to know

Try and make a list that every individual can fill in with whatever association they could be linked to. Give each copy a number and only you and one other keep the numbers with associated names, the names must never be made public and they might need re-assurance on that

Please tell them that the ball is in the residents hands and everyone has a responsibility to help, in whatever way they can

merlotgran Tue 02-Sept-25 08:28:05

Good morning everyone from a very wet south coast where we had some very heavy rain last night.
No allotment for me today as I’m nursing a heavy cold and it would be too wet in any case. If I feel up to it I’ll carry on with my decluttering. If I don’t I’ll watch Netflix! 😂
Tesco delivery this afternoon which is about as exciting as the day will get!
Hope everyone has a good day.

harrigran Tue 02-Sept-25 08:29:13

Good morning from a dry and sunny NE, must be cool though as the heating has just come on.
Today is GD2's 16th birthday, we are going to a castle for afternoon tea to celebrate.
grandMattie, I hope you can get the problem sorted, going to the media sounds like a good idea.
Have a good day.

GN
Search in companies house. They have addresses and details of directors of all uk companies

Have a read of overview first, there is a company called anchor which is a computer business, obviously not that one. Do some digging to find the actual directors of your management group and go straight to the top but check companies house. You could do with bi-passing the minions

karmalady Tue 02-Sept-25 08:38:56

This one

find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/03147851/officers

check it is this, see if you recognise any names.

Thats all from me now

BlueSapphire Tue 02-Sept-25 08:39:59

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton, but showers are forecast later on. The rain held off yesterday, so could have done some washing after all.

I determined to find a new gardener yesterday and sat down with a list of recommendations and my phone. The first one I rang came to inspect the garden in the evening, got back to me with a quote, and I am now waiting for a date. They have been highly recommended locally.

A morning of pottering, vacuuming the bedrooms and staircase; then an early lunch and off out to join my walker friends.

Bolognese from the freezer for dinner tonight.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Mum1959 Tue 02-Sept-25 08:44:25

Good morning from Derbyshire! It's a bit overcast here but dry at the moment. Expecting my granddaughter any time soon. Hoping to get her to write to her new pen friend.
Should be easier than yesterday when I sewed 15 badges onto her new Brownie cardigan. Fingers a bit sore...can't get on with thimbles!
Have a good day everyone!

grandMattie Tue 02-Sept-25 08:44:36

Thanks for all your advice.
We are forming a sub committee of 3 to discuss our options and act upon them.
And our fees are above £250 pcm!

karmalady Tue 02-Sept-25 08:51:01

I found this info from the last link. The group has had an official name change to the anchor hanover company

This is that link with more recent details

find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/08209801/officers

Sorry, I do get involved, I know that but I am backing out now

Usedtobeblonde Tue 02-Sept-25 08:55:39

Good morning from Stockport.
It is bright with a blue sky but it may not last.
GS back to school this morning with absolutely no enthusiasm.
He is very autistic and due to bad family problems over which my S and I had no control we are now picking up the pieces.
I just hope his day goes ok.
The weather is supposed to pick up again and get warmer,it usually does once schools return.
Enjoy what you can today.

Georgesgran Tue 02-Sept-25 09:07:09

Good Morning from Durham. It’s bright and breezy again here. We had some decent rain yesterday - good for the gardens.
It would’ve been my 53rd wedding anniversary today, but we didn’t make it to 50.
Today is DGS2’s first day at school. Sadly, DH didn’t live to see him arrive, he’s missed so much. DGS2 is very excited, so I hope it all goes well. A couple of his friends from Nursery are also starting there. He’s such a chatty, good natured little boy. *DD2 has just text that he’s gone in happy as Larry. I’m so pleased.
I’ve a full day as I’m meeting my old friend at 10am (we met 55 years ago) at a local garden centre. It’s my regular
chiropody appointment this afternoon, then I’m taking Little Dog home and I’ll chat with DGS2 about his first day at Big School. Ice-cream is promised.

Very frustrating MD one step forward then half a dozen back. Frustration too for gM especially with other residents who don’t want to go public.

Best wishes to all. X

GrannySomerset Tue 02-Sept-25 09:07:52

How wonderfully helpful GN contributors are. Hope Anchor don’t know what’s hit them soon! £250 a month in management costs for ineffective management is just a rip off and needs to be widely broadcast.

Still feeling fragile after yesterday’s emergency treatment of a front tooth which had lost its (elderly) filling; not only do I have a sore mouth but it cost £224! And yesterday’s boiler service means I need a new pump, so more expense. Good thing I lead such a very dull life and have inexpensive tastes on the whole.

Thank you, Madeleine, for reminding me of how little I have to complain about. You are an inspiration, especially when writing about lovely North Yorkshire, and I look forward to hearing about Muker Show which I remember well

karmalady Tue 02-Sept-25 09:08:34

A very important link GM

Sally Ireland is on there. They oversee very many retirement complexes

Welcome Tuinoma and Mum1959.
Voluntary phone was quite busy yesterday and we had a visit from Imogen on her 18th, quiz last night was down on numbers, people on holiday.
Some housework today, no gardening, I need to get some cash out and book dental appointments.
I hope all is well with Blossoming
