Will people pay attention any more?

If you choose - for a number of reasons - you can turn off the alert. On an iPhone, go to Notifications, then scroll down.

I am going to put my phone into another room, it is a good thing to have the emergency alert but I know it can make me jump out of my skin and is deafening

I was in Plymouth last year when an unexploded WW2 bomb was discovered in someone's back garden.
After much deliberation, it was decided to dig it up and move it to the breakwater and take it out to sea, where it could be detonated safely.
The city Council deployed the mobile emergency alert to inform people of the exclusion zone as the bomb was being transported through the streets.
We were in the city centre at the time along with hundreds of other people. It was quite disconcerting when everyone's phone started making this odd noise and we were all frantically staring at the screens trying to stop it.

Sunday 7th September at 3pm.

Just to test the alert is working should the Government need to warn the public about an emergency including weather.

Apparently ALL mobiles are getting a GOVT test alert this coming Sunday …anyone else have any further info?

Think we’ve had these before and only last couple of seconds 😊
