Apparently ALL mobiles are getting a GOVT test alert this coming Sunday …anyone else have any further info?

Think we’ve had these before and only last couple of seconds 😊

NotSpaghetti

Mine remained silent.
No message either.

Have you checked the settings, it's possibly set to ignore the alert. Some older phones, or those not using 4G/5G may not receive the alert.

Mine went off exactly as announced beforehand and was not intrusive or frightening.

All the family were in a restaurant, only about two of the mobiles sounded the alarm. We could hear them in other parts of the restaurant. The staff were ignorant of the alert and some thought it was a fire alarm.

My went off on time not as loud as I expected and no message

REKA Sun 07-Sept-25 21:58:46

I disabled mine.

Delila Sun 07-Sept-25 21:53:51

I was lucky then! Twice.

Ziplok Sun 07-Sept-25 21:28:55

No verbal message delivered by an American accent, though.

Ziplok Sun 07-Sept-25 21:27:13

Mine went off twice, about 10 minutes apart. They weren’t especially loud. However, I did have to click the cross to get rid of the message, so even if I hadn’t heard the alarm, I would have seen the message as it remained 7ntil I removed it.

Delila Sun 07-Sept-25 21:15:51

I received the signal (twice), on time, certainly not loud enough to distract from driving. It was followed by a message delivered in an American accent at breakneck speed.

rafichagran Sun 07-Sept-25 20:31:47

I was out and forgot my phone, but came home to the message and my partner said his and my phone went of at the same time.

NotSpaghetti Sun 07-Sept-25 20:18:32

My husband's did go off. It was late (by about 10 mins I think).

NotSpaghetti Sun 07-Sept-25 20:17:43

Mine remained silent.
No message either.

I opted out. I am seriously disturbed by loud noises and once had to kill a faulty smoke alarm with a heavy hammer.
If there was a genuine emergency my phone would be dead or lost anyway and I’d rely on the chap over the road, same as I do regarding rubbish collection days.

BrightandBreezy Sun 07-Sept-25 19:27:49

Mine did didn't go off but my husband's did. 🤔

NoodleNut Sun 07-Sept-25 19:22:58

* 15 mins late!

OldFrill Sun 07-Sept-25 19:21:37

If you were working nights you may not want it to wake you. Could freak out your pets. You might be in a situation you didn't want to be disturbed. You might be particularly sensitive to noise. You might just find it intrushve

NoodleNut Sun 07-Sept-25 19:21:19

My husbands phone went off 15 late. confused Both my work and personal ones went off on time.

ginny Sun 07-Sept-25 18:33:48

Yes, I can understand that. But , people I have heard saying they would turn it off were not in that position as far as I know.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 07-Sept-25 18:25:49

ginny

Am I the only one who wonders why you would switch off a trial of something that could save you or your property if real ?
It’s only a couple of seconds.

Women in abusive relationships who have a hidden phone definitely should have turned it off

Charleygirl5 Sun 07-Sept-25 18:23:23

Mine showed the signal on my phone but not a sound.

Allira Sun 07-Sept-25 17:30:28

Mine didn't go off - same last time.
It's just been upgraded too.

DH's went off, but not very loud. We have the same phones 🤔

TerriBull Sun 07-Sept-25 17:28:38

I didn't think it was that loud, we were in a crowded, noisy pub having a late Sunday lunch, most diners had their phones visible, they all seemed to be going off intermittently for a while. It wasn't really a surprise to anyone looking at the faces around me. It did appear that most were pretty prepared for it judging by the expressions around us.

Well I thought it was a lot quieter than the last one something and nothing really I was expecting a loud siren noise 🤷‍♀️

Mollygo Sun 07-Sept-25 16:13:39

Well that wasn’t much to listen to, but I suppose if I wasn’t expecting it, I’d have wondered.
One of my sisters didn’t get the alarm or the notification that she’d had it.
