I now know what Day 9 brings - taking down the ceilings in the downstairs hallway and kitchen 😱
Good morning from a damp Suffolk after lots of rain yesterday evening. DGD2 is 18 today and back to school for her final year tomorrow. Having had the family party over the bank holiday weekend, this weekend is her party for friends….40 of them I hear. DSinL has bought the biggest ever paella pan so he is catering for them all.
My keep fit classes restart this morning after the summer break. The tour of Britain ended in Southwold yesterday so I hope they have all gone on the next stage of their journey before I go there for my class. Thinking of all and especially of those with worries or ill health.
Good morning from grey South Lanarkshire.
Best wishes for your grandson’s recovery luluaugaust.
I have to make a trip to M&S to return some ill fitting bras today. I used to just be able to pick up my size and know that it would fit, don’t know what has happened to the sizing as it can’t possibly be me that has changed.
I need to think about packing for our holiday as we leave before dawn on Friday and will be out pretty much all day tomorrow.
Wishing everyone the best day possible.
Good Morning from MS, where the forecast is sunny & 31c. I have an "empty" to enjoy today, b/c DH is off to very happily investigate a vintage car parts yard. I think I'll make a quiche for dinner. I hope everyone has a good day.
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Dry so far.
There will be another attempt at fitting a smart meter today so I'll probably miss yarn group.
My in-laws, staying in Edinburgh, are coming for lunch.
I was up till the early hours waiting for my kiln to reach temperature. It's in a garden shed so involves checking every half hour for the last few hours.
It won't be cool enough to open until tomorrow.
How worrying for you all luluaugust I hope your DGS recovers quickly.
Nice photos of the little school children glammagran.
Wishing everyone some joy today.
Good morning from a dull northwest coast. I’m tired after my sister’s visit, gadding about and my left arm (no lymph nodes) is aching clearing the areas around two windows which will be replaced today.
Thoughts to luluaugust, hope all turns out well🌺
Morning all from a wet West Oxfordshire.
I prepared the fruit for the Christmas cake yesterday and left it to soak in run.
Then OH drove me to the surgery for my cortisone injection into my thumb. Got home and an hour or so later when the anaesthetic wore off I was in extreme pain. The sort of pain which doesn’t react to painkillers. I had been warned this could happen and last for a day or two. I took painkillers every four hours and by 1 am I finally managed to sleep. I woke at around 6 am, still in some pain but manageable.
I might have to leave Christmas cake until tomorrow.
My RA print will be delivered today.
We are going on holiday to Devon on Saturday and I have a bit to do in preparation for. My thumb will come first as I don’t want to experience that pain again. Actually the last time I had pain which painkillers didn’t touch was when I was first diagnosed with gout!
Have a good day everyone. I’m sorry for the moan.
Good morning all. We certainly had some weather during the night but it seems to have settled a bit now.
Enjoyed yesterday but managed to loose my reading glasses somewhere! Have messaged Burgh Island as we think I may have left them in the pub at lunchtime.
Today we are visiting two NT properties and shall have dinner out in Salcombe.
Healing thoughts for poorly GNs and their family members.
Wishing everyone a good day with a smile along the way.
Bore Da Mick and all GNers. Wet and windy here in SW Wales. Not a good night as we were woken just after midnight by the rain battering on the windows. It was also windy which set off all our neighbours security lights They have seven . It was a bit like a son et lumiere here for a while.
Then when I eventually went to sleep I had one of those disaster dreams where my daughter was trying to phone me and great slabs of a Cliff were falling on the houses nearby. So I was awake again.
Might have to have a snooze later and I know that dream is going to linger.
Have a good day everyone.
Good morning from Shropshire where we have rain.
luluaugust I am so sorry to hear your grandson is so unwell and hope he is soon on the road to recovery🙏🏻
Early blood test then a quiet few hours at home.First school pick up today for two grandchildren then we will take DGD to dance.
Thoughts to all unwell or with worries.
Wishing everyone the best day possible.🦩🌻
Good morning all from a damp Stockport.
Thank you Madeleine for the heads up about the Boots calendar, I had done the priority thing but missed the email.
I checked and today was the last day for ordering, it is a gift so I have just ordered.
I am sure it wouldn’t have been a problem later but it is done now and I can forget it.
A busy day for me today, hair cut, Sainsbury’s delivery and my friend coming for coffee and biscuits this afternoon.
I had a domestic day yesterday cooking for the freezer, something I haven’t done for ages.
My GS’s day at school was not as bad as anticipated so I hope today is the same.
Some unwell people and GS’s today.
I hope very much things improve as the day progresses.
Good morning from a dull wet Cambridgeshire 17 degrees and 100% rain forecast.
I’m not sure of my plans today. I should be catching up on household jobs but I feel like escaping out somewhere but as it is wet where to go what to do…. Just feeling a bit unsettled and worrying how first day back at school will go for my DGC.
Hoping today will be a good one for everyone, have the best day possible 💐
Good morning from a grey and rainy S E Essex ☔️☔️☔️
Day 9 of the builders, only one here today.
The Imp and 10yr old are back to school today, cannot believe it’s the 10yr olds last year in Primary School, where have the years gone?
luluaugust I hope your DGS is on the mend ❤️🩹
Have a good day 🙋♀️
I hope your GS is ok and has only a brief stay in hospital luluaugust. How worrying for you and your family.
I’m sorry hear you have a broken tooth Bellasnana. Good luck.
Good morning Mick and everyone from dark, rainy Carlisle.
The window cleaner is due but I hope he'll cancel. The windows are filthy though, it always seems to shower soon after he's been.
Yesterday, household chores and admin in the morning, in the afternoon I put together one of the two raised beds I'd bought. They're to go in the corner where solid clay just below the surface has been making it impossible to get anything thriving. The only plant succeeding is one I put in a raised bed.
I found a monster slug heading towards my lettuces and gave it a flying lesson in a roadwards direction. Now the rainy season has started, war has been declared! I don't know where these monsters have suddenly come from, I've only had the little species up to now.
Today, the ironing and then the putting together of the remaining raised bed. Then a quiet day of admin and reading, I may even find time to do a little cleaning...spurred on my spick and span looking utility room which I gave a good going over yesterday.
Have the best possible day everyone.
good morning everyone from a wet mid Essex. We had quite a few heavy showers yesterday and the garden is beginning to look a little greener. Heavy rain forecast for us today, a bit of a nuisance as I’m meeting some Australian cousins for lunch today, we’ll all get wet walking from the station to the restaurant. I haven’t seen them for 16 years, they’re here on holiday, and are off to tour Scotland tomorrow.
I’ve been awake since 3;o’clock until I propped myself up on extra pillows to ease my cough.
Have the best day possible everyone, enjoy the Muker show madeleine!
Thinking of those who are struggling at the moment.
Good morning from soggy Wiltshire. Selfish, I know, but can we have the 🌞 back.
Youngest GC started school yesterday and seems to have enjoyed his first day. His sister has already been at school 3 years. She is by far, the youngest in her year, starting school 3 days after her 4th birthday. I think she was quite anxious in reception but definitely has seemed much happier since. At 2 years and 8 months younger, GS2 is not that much smaller than his sister. He’s quite big for his age and she is a dot. They have the same shoe size. School pickup later for both of them and dinner here.
Been trying to arrange a family Sunday lunch out for 14 for the end of the month when it will be my 70th. Think of herding cats. 🤔 Two have very specific dietary requirements which must be adhered to. I can’t wait though.
On Monday we are going to Crete for a week - looking forward to that. I’m in the 3rd week of a head cold which is on the mend now. I’ve had to take decongestant spray which I’ve only ever used once before. I’ve not had anything since Covid on NYD 2024.
I do hope Blossoming is OK. I’m not sure what is wrong with her though. I’m so pleased that Himself is home with you FGTs. Long may it last. What a headache GM for you with Anchor. Marydoll your battles never cease. I’m glad your DD1 is home Kittylester.
Have as good a day as you can everyone.
Morning Mick, morning All from a grey, wet corner of Somerset.
We now have a wonderfully insulated loft space. I was very nervous about it after the debacle of the first attempt, the emptying process isn’t fun. We were told the installers would arrive around lunch time. Imagine the consternation when 9am saw Mr C in the shower and the installers on the doorstep being greeted by a madwoman with dripping wet hair. Thankfully they waited while morning processes were completed. Two very pleasant men who have yet another story to tell. More relief later when new bank cards arrived. Ten days in the post rather than the 3-5 advised by the bank. Everything we can manage is back in the loft leaving just two items needing more muscle than we have between us.
Mr C has an appointment with the practice physio late morning, I’ll go with him to describe how his heel is hampering his day to day life. Nearly ten weeks now. The practice physios are based a 30 minute drive away, we’ll stop for coffee as we go. This afternoon I’ll tackle my mobile provider and update card details on a couple of parking apps while Mr C reads, possibly through closed eyelids.
Good luck with Anchor grandmattie. I understand the frustrations, our home is freehold on a managed site which also brings challenges.
Have the best day you can everyone.
luluaugust I'm sorry to hear about your grandson. Bellasnana commiserations on your tooth. I broke one of mine in a similar way.
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 11° and grey. We have a pretty good chance of rain today. I'm sorry for all the poor sleepers. I'm usually within your rank.
Yesterday the boys were very good at getting ready in the morning. I dropped them off and hared home for the tv men who arrived just after me. They were efficient and cheery and I have a new tv up and running. It's quite a bit bigger than the last one which is disconcerting. The rest of the day was spent tidying up the boys stuff ready for them to go home and playing with the tv. I picked up the boys and dd and Dsil arrived very quickly afterwards. I think they were very keen to see their boys. Last night was a quiet, peaceful one for me
Today I'm working in the school library for an hour or so. Then doing an ironing. At some point DD is coming round for a couple of things I forgot to pack for the boys. Then I'll look at the photos and paintings that are still cluttering up the dining room and decide what I'm doing with them. The blinds are going to be fitted on Friday afternoon. Another tick in my to do list. Dinner will be chicken curry I think. Have a good day all.
Sorry to read your news luluaugust, I do hope your DGS will get well very soon.🙏🏻
Good morning from Malta where it is currently 24°C rising to a pleasant 32°C later.
Whilst eating some granola yesterday I suddenly realised I wasn’t crunching nuts and discovered my tooth had broken so, like you Roses, I shall be visiting the dentist today. Not until 3pm and I expect it will be an extraction as it doesn’t look as though there’s much left to save.
Took Bertie for a walk yesterday evening, he trots along pretty well for an old chap. He’s 14 but doesn’t look or act it!
I’m meeting a friend for coffee this morning which will be lovely as we haven’t managed to catch up in ages.
Wishing you all a good day.☀️
Good morning from a wet and windy W Kent
We had bad news yesterday that our DGS who had an appendectomy last month is back in hospital with worrying complications. We are far away from our DD which is hard.
Good morning from the Essex coast where we have rain and much cooler temperatures.
I too didn't sleep well and have the start of a throat infection, my voice is very croaky. I haven't felt like this for a very long time.
Not a lot going on here today and that suits me fine.
Some of the grandchildren start back at school this morning, some tomorrow and the eldest two at college. I hope they all enjoy the first day back 😢.
I'm thinking of all those with worries or illness and hope that life improves for you. Best wishes to all xx
Good morning all from North Leicestershire where it has been raining since about 4am.
As you can tell, I too had a really bad night.
Our cleaner is due at 9, dh is off to the gym and I need to sort out the spare room.
We may go to Derby to see DD1 this afternoon.
Have the best day possible everyone.
