Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 13° and bright. GrandMattie that kind of response is guaranteed to make my blood boil! Gingster enjoy your coach trip.
Yesterday I did an hour in the school library, chatted to some staff and had a conversation with the depute about future plans. Then home for housework. After that, the man arrived to fit the new blinds. I'm very pleased with them and at least I have blinds which work! Dinner was cheese omelette and chips. I hope Peli enjoyed hers. I contacted various family and friends to catch up. I find if I don't do it, weeks can go by. They are always quick to respond though.
Today I'll strip the bed and get the whites washed. Then the usual Saturday cleaning and hoovering. I plan on making a slow cooker pot of mince to divide into portions. I might bake as well. A quiet day ahead. Have a good day all.

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a still grey morning with a hint of some sun to come (hopefully) Another struggle to get going and am very very weary after a tough day yesterday.

I have all these appointments lined up for tuesday with the diabetic nurse and doctor etc etc., but then got a request to get a blood test before I went to this meeting. Well given very little time to organise it, and on line the best offer was the end of september!! So I had various plans for shopping and getting on with things here etc, but decided to go in person to the surgery and see what I could do. I planned to speak to the receptionist, explain it was a request to get it done before the appointments - which would give them information which would be useful etc ., that if there was a gap or someone did not turn up I was prepared to sit there and wait etc. So went down, and the helpful receptionist looked up everything and in the beginning said she was sorry there was no chance.

Then she found a cancellation about 4.30pm and I said I would be happy to come down early and be prepared to wait. She then said she had to confirm and speak to someone, so sat for a while, but she was not able to contact them. So I made sure she had my phone number and said she could ring me and I would come back if necessary. Went to do some shopping, and the phone rang, but could not hear anyone. Put the phone away and it rang again, same thing, So I then abandoned shopping and drove back to surgery. She said that she had put me in for the 4.30pm but the person who should be on duty then had not yet come in, which was not like her. They had tried to contact her but no answer so wasnt sure if she would be in. Then said that I could take a form and go as a walk in to the local hospital and get one done. So I said I would go there and she said she would cancel my appointment but I quickly said please dont do that, until I have been sure to get it done at the hospital, and I will come back and defintiely confirm that I do or dont need the appointment. So once again went back to shopping. The time was going on and when I went tot the hospital, not a parking space to be seen and just could not walk from the road to the department. So then thought that if I left it until lunchtime I might get a better chance of parking and less waiting. Once again went to do other things and quickly back home to put on a different T shirt that would allow easy access for the blood test. Back to the hospital and hurrah the plan worked. Got a disabled parking space, and took the form and went off to the vampires!! She was a very nice nurse, but as usual my veins are never helpful and though she put the needle in correctly she could not get any blood out, so that meant another attempt in the other arm , fortunately successful. So job accomplished I drove back to the surgery to confirm I no longer needed the appointment and to state that they would deliver the results on the monday so should be with the doctor for the tuesday.

After all this I felt exhausted, and was struggling with quite a lot of pain but at least glad to have succeeded with the job. So the great plans for what I would get done yesterday were in tatters, but did manage to put the rest of the washing out on the clothes horses just outside. It was no good trying to take them down to the line as the showers were coming quickly and for short times so it was a matter of going in and out of the door.

Today it will be the great concert for Norman up at Muker and I had very much wanted to be there. It will be a great get together of so many banding people and there will be some great sounds I have no doubt. But, I just cannot manage it. I am really struggling with the pain today, and no doubt all the stress yesterday did not help things. So I am going to have my coffee, listen to Bach before 7, and then go and get the Yorkshire Post and any bits and pieces I think I need, and it will be a quiet day at home, but hopefully get a bit more done here. I shall have a nice dinner today as I bought a small pork joint in the reduced box, and so will hopefully make myself a very nice roast dinner with roast potatoes and onion , some lovely runner beans I have just got etc. So the great plan will be to have this good dinner and there will be plenty of the pork left to be able to make a salad with for tomorrow and a sandwich too, so one lot of cooking will provide me with a couple of meals and save me having to stand up and cook. Even have a cooking apple so with sauce too! That is cheering, both for the thought of a good meal and not having to do much tomorrow. So not a very exciting day planned, but I do hope to get a bit done and feel that things are at least slowly getting back to some sort of routine. This week seems to have been non stop and I dont seem to have got far with any plans. All the washing is clean and dry but the mountain of ironing is still there, and if I need to sit down I think I shall try and tackle the north face of the mountain, as I will be sitting down to do that! Havent looked at the radio times but hope there are some good concerts on radio 3 to cheer the day. Sounds quite a boring day, but after the week I have had I am very happy to spend the day recuperating, and if the weather improves later will hope to put my chair out and sit outside with coffee to hand and erad the paper, bliss!

Mick hope your engineer comes on time and does a great job. I have quite a few friends who are having to get someone to sort their phones out and are quite anxious about how it will work as they need that lifeline to be there 24/7, and as usual dont think that a lot of thought was put into how they would deal with peoples needs . GrandMattie, glad you got your hair done, but it feels a bit sttrange for a while with the shorter haircut doesnt it? I see that the pathetic management have not improved their attitude and hope you and the others can keep up the pressure and not let them get away with their rubbish attitude. I think that someone else who does the coffee should give the others a large hint that they should pull their fingers out and make an effort to bake something and give you a well earned rest. In fact I would have thought that the vicar should be looking at this and suggesting that they are all expecting too much of the willing person and time for someone else to make a bit of effort! People just saying how good our baking is and how they enjoy it , is not really enough, as I know myself , having beein in the same position. When one person said "Oh but your gingerbread is so good we couldnt match it" I replied that I had run out of ginger at the moment and so they would have to think of something else to make. I then did not make anything for a couple of weeks, and finally the message got across and someone made a rather nice coconut sponge, which was a change. Of course I went back to baking things but it does no harm to remind them that you are not the only one to do it all and they should do a fair share. Pantglas the sound of cocktails in the sunshine is lovely. Wish I was a bit closer and could join you. Ah well my version later this afternoon may be some good fresh black coffee in my china cup with a slug of Baileys added!!

May we all have a good day, some success with jobs or visits and a little treat of some kind or another for ourselves. Let it be sunny in the daylight and then pour down tonight to help the gardens and us. Have a good day everyone

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. A bright clear start.

My shift yesterday was busier than I've known it in the community café. We ran out of plates and tables at one stage. We were down 2 staff.

My studio is set up for today's art trail. I'll deliver my cake and flowers for the Town Hall as usual.

Cocktails at the beach sounds good
pantglas. 🍸 👌

Hopefully you all have a happy weekend.

Good morning from Cambridgeshire. It looks very grey outside this morning.

Today we have a get together in a neighbours garden early afternoon to celebrate a significant anniversary for them. I had a busy day yesterday tidying the garden and planting Autumn pots and hope to continue with this today but need to pop out for more compost.

Hope everyone has the best day possible

Good morning all and we’re due a fine day here in Essex.

Yesterday our journey home from Suffolk was very good considering it was Friday evening rush hour. Most of the traffic was heading the other way.

Today I’m off on a coach trip to Audley End. Somewhere I haven’t been for many years.
I’ll have my cuppa, shower , walk the dog and go to my friends who will take us to our meeting point.

Enjoy your day, whatever it brings 🌼

Usedtobeblonde Sat 06-Sept-25 07:09:25

Good morning from Stockport.
A better night for me with warmer bedding put on yesterday.
I didn’t realise it would make such a difference.
A quiet day and visiting a friend tonight for a Chinese takeaway.
I have seen very little of her recently, she had a hip replacement in July and lots of family visiting to take care of her.
She has made a fantastic recovery which frankly was a surprise to most of us but she amazed us all.
A good day weatherwise is forecast here so I hope you can make the most of it.

Good morning from s somerset, sunny and warm today

New serious readers lamp ordered yesterday in the sale. I cannot be doing with it being so difficult to see my very dark knitting. Then I ordered brighter light bulbs but in warm white. I am going to change several light bulbs in my house. I was thinking of changing shades but bulbs are a lot cheaper

I have a small Normann Copenhagen trolley in my hall, the castor fell off and the trolley left a horrible black mark on my white wall, I noticed that this morning and am fixing both, the castor with matchsticks as nothing else is working

CH now tested and is working, ready for the boiler service next week and as today is going to be lovely out, I may well go to a NT property and walk the grounds

Cycling to the allotment yesterday was lovely, I chatted to some horse riders and walkers and waved to a couple of cyclists. There are hardly any weeds so I just spent 2 hours titivating and on the way out picked up a few fresh runner beans from the share table

Really I have no set plans for today

Have a good day

Good morning from a bright and sunny Essex coast.
I'm not 100%, with a nasty cough and croaky voice, which I've had for a few days.
Today, eight boats from the club are following our rowing gig to Burnham on Crouch, where we are all mooring for the night. There are 31 of us booked into a local pub for dinner.
Tomorrow we follow the gig back to our home berths.
It will take about 2/3 hours for the rowers, a team of 4/5.
A fun weekend and the weather is looking good.
Enjoy the weekend everyone, best wishes to all xx

Morning Mick, morning All. A dry, sunny day forecast for our corner of Somerset

A quiet coffee by the sea wall began our day yesterday. Today it’s breakfast for 17 to wave our granddaughter off to university. If the traffic allows we’ll then wander further along the coast for a change of scene.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning from south Glos, a sunny day is forecast so I might even sit in the sun for a bit and keep my fingers crossed that the photosensitivity doesn’t kick off.
I enjoyed art group yesterday, a lovely couple of hours in good company. I started a drawing yesterday afternoon so I will get on with it today. I treated myself to some water soluble wax crayons, they should arrive today so I will have a play with them later 😊
Little else happening here, I will do a walk from the village this morning, the views across the valley are always uplifting and I love watching the countryside change with the seasons.
I have no idea what we’re eating for dinner, I need to sort out the fridge and see what we have- it might be a hotchpotch day today!
Best wishes to you all 🌹

Good morning from a grey but quiet SWWales.
Another quiet day today as DH is still not up and running , although has progressed to a stick.
We are due to go away soon so I am hoping he is fully recovered by then…..although there will be no long walks when we are away.
Enjoy your Saturday everyone

Ashcombe Sat 06-Sept-25 06:37:10

Good morning all for a day that is still making up its mind in Torbay.

At least it’s dry so I might go shopping in Lidl early as I find Saturday to be a good day for there being less traffic around therefore fewer people wanting to park near my flat.

I’m sorry your meeting wasn’t more productive, grandMattie. We have similar frustrations with the management company for the block of flats in which I live.

Cocktails in your beach hut sounds very civilised, Pantglas2!

Happy weekend, where possible! 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Pantglas2 Sat 06-Sept-25 06:00:26

Good morning all from a dry and still dark north Wales where I’m about to enjoy my chamberpot of Yorkshire Gold ☕️ then trot off for a newspaper.

As today is the last of the sunshine 🌞 for a while Ive invited a friend over later for cocktails in my little beach hut probably the last ones this year as I think of them as summer drinks and stick to wine in winter 🤔

Will pop along later and catch up with your bizzinesses…

grandMattie Sat 06-Sept-25 05:34:44

Good morning from Bristol. We are promised a sunny, dry day.
Yesterday’s meeting went well, but my excoriating letter to the immediate manager was met with patronising “calm down dear” type wording. It made me a lot angrier!
The salon was good and my hair feels incredibly short (it isn’t), but much easier to look after. The other two seemed happy with their cuts too.
Today, I’m serving coffee in church and that’s it for socialising. I made some flapjacks.
I’m half amused/half annoyed that when I’m just a punter, I’m asked why there is no cake. My stock reply is that the servers are perfectly able to do their own baking!
I hope you all have a good weekend. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
