I know Allira, but I was pointing out that the Boat People are not illegal, until so proven.
Nicola Sturgeons husband pleads guilty.
Robert Kenyon, Reform's candidate for Makerfield. Would you let him in your house?
And they will keep on coming. Shabana Mahmood has her work cut out.

Absolutely please don't take your post down Sparkle, because as Oreo pointed out, only two GNs believed it, so no harm done. In fact it might make us more aware of online incorrect facts.
Sago just trying to help here, is this the thread you meant?

Like most members of the public, if the efforts and results from France to stop the boats were more apparent I might start to believe it more!
I am not naive in my thinking when I hear from a friend sitting on the beach in northern France that a group of men rush out of nowhere into the sea.
This is an issue for Europe as a whole and needs to be addressed by countries acting together, we will never build a fortress around the UK and we shouldn't try. I thoroughly recommend reading The Wall by John Lanchester, a dystopian novel but pertinent to our present time.

Whilst I agree that doctors in say Austria and Germany earn more compared with UK, in France doctors actually earn less than UK doctors, but I'd need to check current figures.
The UK could save money to pay doctors more by not wasting it elsewhere like handing it to France tonotstop the boats!
Like most members of the public, you seem to have little idea of what France has actually done over the last few years to "stop boats". It's naive to think that not sending money to France would make no difference. In fact, France's actions have meant that the hubs have had to move to other countries such as Belgium.

Escaped it's cheaper to employ foreign trained doctors . We've increased the uni places for medicine but the places for the further training have not been increased sufficiently nor have UK trained doctors been prioritised. We are potentially facing huge shortages of doctors in many specialisms and already have a huge shortage in cardiology, psychiatry, emergency medicine and GP etc I the NHS would grind to a halt without foreign trained doctors!
I think the answer lies in not relying so much on employing foreign trained workers in the first place. Then additional asylum seekers would be of little use to us. Take the NHS, for example where over 35% of doctors are trained abroad.
That's crazy. I know the reason is that our own training cannot meet demand, but other countries seem to manage this. Here in France, for example, foreign trained doctors account for only 7%, mainly from Tunisua and Morocco, so they actually speak French too. The same applies to carers.
If France can grow their own, why can't we? It's not that the NHS doesn't offer attractive career development either. The reason is just that we stupidly don't train enough people initially, so maybe that's where it needs to start?
I think any asylum seekers who aren't in full time employment after 6 months in the UK, (and I'd get them doing some form of job from day one), should be sent elsewhere with no benefits and few comforts, if all they want to do is to sit around.
The irony of course is that many people who voted to leave the EU were motivated by thinking it would help the UK have better control over "illegal" immigration , when it's had the opposite effect.
I use the expression " illegal" because I think it's important to remember why they are classified as "illegal" when prior to 2023 and the introduction of a new act brought in by the Conservative government, people arriving like this would not have been considered "illegal".
There's no doubt in my mind that although we do have to find a solution to this increased level of migration it has been weaponised and is scapegoating these people unfairly. Yes, it's a problem for very many countries and as the EU have got their act together and are working more successfully to move migrants on it's making entry to the UK even more attractive to people desperate for a better life. However, IMO it's not the most important issue to face this country and it's not the cause of the stagnation that's facing our economy either but Reform and the Conservatives would like us to believe it is and sadly, many do.
I don’t think anyone thinks huge numbers of undocumented migrants is acceptable or sustainable. I do think the hysteria about it is whipped up by Reform and the media ( BBC in particular) making it the most important concern of the country we should all be focusing on, ignoring the numerous other important issues in the world. A bit like Brexit really.

I find a lot of posts on here ‘offensive’ but I’d never stoop to getting them removed. It seems to me that if you’re for unfettered immigration then that’s ok. For others such as myself people find our posts ‘offensive’ and want them removed. No debate allowed just agree or be deleted. Trouble is, in the real world, as we are seeing people won’t be deleted. They’ve found their voices and won’t be silenced. Intimidation tactics don’t and won’t work. People don’t want non documented migrants flooding into this country which is why the government are running scared belatedly.
Why do you assume someone reported it? HQ don’t remove posts just because they have been reported unless they break certain guidelines.
Sparklefizz I think you don't need to take your post down. I think we mostly think it was repeated in good faith.
Unfortunately not everyone has read the whole thread and so it has been repeated again.
- but we can all only report what we have heard and read
Some of us are trying to engage in a dialogue and a few are not really.
So come back Sparklefizz I think we are all OK.

Was the number of boats wrong then, Casdon?
Do you disagree with that number?
I was talking about her perspective rather than her post that started the thread - evident from the ‘people who agree with many of us on here’.
So was the number arriving by boat wrong?
Should we not be concerned about the number
without being accused of not caring about the problems of those arriving by boat,
or being worried about those in the UK who are homeless, needing food banks, or unable to afford dental care or get registered with a doctor?
No, I didn’t say the number of migrants (I assume that’s what you mean?) was wrong Mollygo, nor did I say you shouldn’t be concerned about the number, or about any of the other things you mention? I didn’t say anything at all about migration in fact, and I won’t, as I said earlier in the thread.

Sorry SueinEspana, those people are asylum seekers until their asylum plea is accepted or rejected.
If rejected, that is when they become illegal immigrants.
Hope this helps.
Actually, there are many illegal immigrants in the country, not living in hotels but living amongst us all.
We really have no idea how many but changes brought in hastily this year to try to solve the problem have caused problems for genuine visitors to the UK who wish to come here on holiday and then return home.

No I don't think it is my style Casdon, thankyou for that. Nor yours for that matter.
I have seen much worse than utter drivel of course, often under the guise of 'some posters'.
Me too, and sometimes people have reported them, and sometimes not - quixotic I guess, it depends on how affronted people are. I still think it’s discourteous to say somebody else’s post is utter drivel though, whoever says it, and whoever they say it to.
FriedGreenTomatoes2
Okay.
I won’t mention the huge numbers anymore. You all must think it’s acceptable, not worth mentioning - and that we can afford accommodation, 3 meals a day, clothes, a doctor and dentist on tap plus extras for all who wish to arrive.
I’m in the minority on here then, which I shall now accept. Not a peep from me going forward concerning this topic. 🤷♀️
I’m absolutely with you, FGT. How can anyone think this is sustainable or acceptable!
Casdon
I don’t believe that is the case Mt61. Groundhog Day posts never generate the same level of debate as those about new topics.
Maybe not on here Casdon, but people in general are getting fed up.

Oh, sparklefizz, don't do that. Everyone makes mistakes ( except me because of the perfect thing) or posts something that they might regret. It can get a bit feisty on the politics threads, but generally people on here are OK.
Please please can someone explain which posters on here are “for unfettered immigration”
I begin to feel Mr Trump’s determination to forget any notion of good manners or balanced debate is being replicated on here
Galaxy
I am perfect and anyone who disagrees is talking utter drivel.
Yes, of course they are Galaxy. I’m not though, and I’m pretty sure you haven’t been that discourteous to another poster, that’s not your style, is it?
Don't be put off, Sparklefizz. You have acknowledged it was fake and have apologised.
I can understand how it happened, not everyone checks their sources, you're not the only one.
The problem is, other posters keep repeating it.
Perhaps if other people bombarded GNHQ with reports they might delete it for you.
Hi Everyone - I asked for my post to be taken down this morning, as I said I would do. Unfortunately Admin haven't yet removed it, and I've reported it for the 2nd time tonight.
I posted it in good faith. Perhaps some of you are right and it IS fake. I humbly apologise. I won't be posting on the political threads again.
