yes, I'm awake having a cup of tea and a biscuit at 4.45AM. I shall be back in bed trying to sleep in half an hour and look later to see if anyone else was about!

(19 Posts)Yes I am awake.
Woken up about an hour ago by a nearby car leaving. I had surgery a week ago and my sleep pattern is all over the place. I find it better sleeping on the sofa so that’s where I am now with a glass of water. Fingers crossed sleep will come.
I'm up - thx to UK time difference, lol.
Hope you manage to sleep soon!🛌
Not sure if being around now makes me an owl or a lark, but it’s annoying. I’d rather be asleep.
I’ve slept and have been awake for nearly 2 hours. I think I’m an extreme lark…
I’ve stopped worrying and now unashamedly have a nap after lunch!
I usually wake at 5 I did get annoyed a laid there trying to sleep. Now I just read for a while make a cuppa about 7 but I don’t seem able to nap.
I usually wake up around 5am too, lie in bed until about 5.30. Then I give up and get myself up and shower, make the first of my two daily cups of coffee and catch up on the news.
Do get to see some beautiful sunrises!
A cuppa and a bickie sounds good to me!
It depends on what my shifts are like, but when I'm off at night, I love sitting on the edge of the bed, lights off, in the dark, guzzling a mug of PG Tips in the early hours, sometimes with a jammy doughnut!
went back to bed and dozed for a while gave up at 6am go up shower hairwash redy for day.. hope I get a good stretch of sleep tonight.
When my dog wakes me up two hours before I want to wake up I listen to Jason Stephensons Get back to sleep fast on utube and before I know it I’ve had the two extra hours sleep I needed to function properly. I did actually mention that to someone I spoke to in a doctors waiting room and when I came out of my appointment she said she’d almost fallen asleep in the waiting room.
Get woken most nights for a loo visit then find I cannot go back to sleep for a couple of hours. So back to my favourite occupation. Music on & book to read. Wake about 7.30 ish to find book is on the floor & music playing to itself!
You get used to weird hours if you have pet dogs or cats, some keep 'human' hours, but others don't!!
I find it easier to nap in an armchair, with the TV on (low sound). Hence most nights when the Main News is on, I'm doing (in fact we're doing) zzzzzzzzz well before the weather comes on.
I get woken up most nights (it happened last night again) from a nightmare in which I’m desperate for the loo but can’t find one. Of course I wake up because I need the loo. The latest one was particularly traumatic as I’m still somewhere ‘in the zone’ of that dream but unable to quite remember what was happening in it which is very frustrating. I also can’t get to the loo very quickly these days because of my dodgy knee.
I go through periods of insomnia where I dont feel sleepy, I watch the clock go round and this upsets me so ,if its dry I wrap up warm and sit outside star gazing.I used to try and force myself to stay in bed and sleep, it didnt work I just got a headache, so now I accept how I am and often read a book at 3am with my cat cuddled up bedside me. I ĺive on my own so my sleep patterns don't cause any issues. Have tried all the " usual" remedies but none helped, calm purring is the best relaxant.
Sorry that everyone is not sleeping well. I dont sleep well and am often on here about 4am, but didnt see this today, or I would have joined in. Often think what a shame that we cannot have a little light or signal on the phone to tell you a friend is also awake and we could ring each other up and chat, but not invented yet. I keep a pad and pen by the bed. If something is worrying me, or I need to remember an appointment I write it down, and even if I dont get back to sleep I have removed that from my mind in a way. I sometimes read but the best thing I have found which I pass on and hope it helps is that if you put channel 9 on the tv, they have about an hour of just bird song. It is lovely, so I put the tv on, but turn my back on it so that I dont have the light of the screen and then just let the birdson waft over me. If I am lucky I get back to sleep , but ifnot it is very cheering and relaxing to me so do try it folks.
I have nights when I simply cannot get to sleep. If I’m still awake 45 minutes after turning off the bedside lamp I do get up and either read, crochet or just make notes of stuff I need to remember - which is probably what’s churning around my brain in the first place. Watching tv would no doubt disturb my OH as we live in a bungalow.
It’s the fear of oversleeping the following morning that worries me when I’m having a disturbed night.
I am awake most nights between 1am till 4am play LBC on my Alexa and it's like having friends to listen to on many topical subjects of the day.
Friday / Saturday / Sunday 1am till 4am Clive Bull lovely smooth listning voice.
I just love listning to my radio family
I’m a frequent insomniac, but looking at a screen when I should be asleep makes things worse. I have a cheap “Codewords” puzzle book from The Works. Each puzzle is just challenging enough to take my mind of whatever is whirling around in there, takes about half an hour to complete, and usually does the trick. Back to bed and off to sleep 🛌😊
I had problems sleep for a few years eventually i went to the doctors after my family told me too because it was so upsetting and i felt awful
Well i got some medication and a refural to a mental health nurse who went through my life trying to find out any issues eventually she signed me off as couldnt help me
so continued with the pills the doctor prescibed me but after 7 months i read the instructions in side because they gave me a different box of pills telling me they were the same just another brand Inside it said you should only be taking these for no more than 5 to 10 days so am worried
