Good morning from a sunny Norfolk. An enjoyable day spent in Kings Lynn where I found some shoes for the winter. Shoe buying is a nightmare so I am pleased. Today we shall travel along the coast and visit various antique shops.
DGS4 is now out of hospital again and has had visits from his brothers.
Happy anniversary Peli
Bellasnana enjoy your trip
Marydoll have a good day
Best wishes all round

Good morning from a bright blue sky and weak sun in Suffolk. I’m meeting a friend for coffee later and then back to do the jobs I didn’t manage yesterday, mainly tidying up in the garden.

I started reading ‘Long Island’ by Colm Toibin and that took over my day in a very pleasant, relaxing way.

Hope today is a good one for all.

madeleine45 Tue 09-Sept-25 07:56:09

Dear Mick and all GN's from a still dry and with a tinge of sunshine coming out North Yorkshire. We are promised yet again sunshine and heavy showers, but none arrived yesterday , so will see what happens today. Our weather up here doesnt listen to the forecast!!

Well I have just managed to creak my way here and a good job that I can touchtype as when the rest of me ai"nt workin well" at least my fingers can keep going. I am sat in dressing gown, waiting for Bach before 7 to raise the spirits, but havent even been able to make a coffee yet so water has to be a stand in for the moment. The best I can make of it is that as I am seeing the doctor re the pain clinic, he will have a clear demonstration today of the state I am in, and hope he doesnt ask for too many demonstrations of various movements and so forth! But I have about 4 hours to get myself showered , fed and dressed , so should just about manage it!!

But let us now get to the good news. Hurrah hurrah, I am discharged from the eye clinic, I am free free! Calling in did the trick, and I have already made an appointment for next tuesday at the options for a check up and then the painful bit finding the money for new reading glasses!! So I went to the hospital after meeting my friend for a coffee and catch up. Found my way there from a totally different direction and so saw some quite different roads and one with a lot of trees in it , looked decidely autumny with already brown leaves on the ground. Shall look forward to the simple pleasure of swishing through leaves , something I have always enjoyed . So spoke to the receptionist and said I was in the area etc etc and needed to find out what has happened with the surgeon etc. Told her I had waited in all day but no phone call and it was now a week later. She apologised that I had not received any communication and said she would go off to speak to her secretary and then we could sort something out. She offered me a coffee , which I was very ready for, and I sat there quite happily to wait. When she returned she said that Miss Oswal had phoned on the day and had discharged me etc. I could not understand as I had had no phone call, and then she said it is probably on voice mail. So got the phone out and went back and yes she recognised their phone number and showed me. Slight problem was that as this phone is still new to me, I didnt know how to get the voice mail and anything I did didnt bring it up. She had an Iphone and didnt know my phone either, so had to leave it at that and thanked her and off I went, feeling somewhat stupid that I hadnt seen the message or know how to get the voicemail but jubilant at the release

Anyway, having booked my eye appointment, today I shall be ringing the swimming pool to check that nothing has changed there and fingers crossed will go tomorrow to the disabled hour. Just the right way to start again, and will have to be content with a gentle introduction, and no doing 30 lengths again. I think it will take me some time to get back to that level. I had a years swimming pass, which gave me a bit of advantage if there was a limit in the amount of swimmers allowed, such as in Covid times. So I dont want to plunge in with forking out for a years ticket yet. That really paid off when I was doing 2 or 3 times a week, and on horrible mornings like today, when I couldnt sleep, it gave me the excuse to get up at silly o clock in the dark, and by the time I had slowly got dressed and ready I would be there for about 6.45 am ready for the doors opening. Then with the help of the disabled changing room and very slow changing and showering would be ready for the grand opening at about 7am. But this week will be glad for the lunchtime disabled hour as it will probably take me that long to get ready and there! Must remember to return swimming goggles to their correct bag, as no longer have to look so daft putting them on in the shower but they did the trick when I needed them.

It is so nice to be writing some positives today, feel I have been such a moaner lately and want to get back to being more positive and making the most of things. Today hopefully I might get some better ideas of how to cope with the pain, but not holding my breath. Think the swimming will give me the best way of sorting out stiffened muscles and being able to do exercises in water is less painful and should be more relaxed. We shall see what they have to say later.

I am still wading through the dresser items but even yesterday, when I came in , you could see some improvement, space to walk into the room safely and it was great coming in to washing up done and rubbish out etc. It made me feel I am making some progress, if very slowly. Had planned to do more this morning, but the way I am at present, it is probably going to take me all morning to get ready and collect up things and get to the surgery in good time. Not a cat in hells chance of parking in anything other than a disabled bay, so will have to be there early and cruise around waiting to pounce on a space as soon as one comes free, so shall have radio 3 on to soothe the spirits and attempt to go in in a calm frame of mind. Well hopefully shall have some reasonable ideas on pain relief, but expect some frowns from the diabetic nurse, as both the physical difficulty in cooking from scratch and the pain itself means that in rough times I just have to go with what is easy to prepare and have no great ideas on what I want to eat, when in a lot of pain often feel quite sick and have to make an effort to eat anything. That is the time to resort to Weetabix for breakfast, tastes of nothing much , but gets me to have my needed intake of some milk, and lets me take my tablets, which I have to eat something before taking them. So that is when I eat more snacks, more sandwitches, as the easiest thing to make and I can sit down to do it, and tend to want more comfort type food, so that is when the toasted tea cakes with butter on and coffee, can make quite an entrance into the food diary, but very satisfying on all levels as these days they charge a lot of money in a cafe for a teacake, so my four in a pack from the bread shop is much better value, and more than that made at home they are lovely and hot when you get them to eat straight away. No doubt my sins will be noted from the blood tests, but whilst I may duly shake myself up about taking more care with what I am eating now, I have no regrets for my indulgence at the moment.

So being a bit later , I get to see more posts. Often there are few sent in before I add mine and by the time I have written my screed there are more posts to read, but not seen before I join in. Mick , sorry to hear you were not so well yesterday, and hope that it is only a blip and today you will be fine for your trip to Bicester. GrandMattie , wish we could beam cake through the atmosphere. Would love a slice of the coffee cake.Bellasnana A lovely photo of the dog, I have been following your posts, but have not seen them before I put something on. Looks to be a great trip and I have never had a catamaran ferry so it should be nice and smooth. Greyduster what a great photo, well done. Peli , a very happy Anniversary to you, hope you have a lovely day.Another lovely photo too. Susan56 , I send you my condolences, you have had a very sad and difficult time and do hope that you will be feeling better and it is good to have old friends to talk to. RoseandLiLilac , hope the mattress turns out well, it will probably feel a bit odd on the first couple of nights until you get used to it , but should be a great help to get dome decent sleep. Grandmabatty, sounds as though you had quite a hectic day yesterday, hope today is a little calmer for you. It is good to see some of the painting done and you can at least see an end in sight . Mind you for the first week or so when it is done if you are like me , you dont want anyone to walk on the carpet, touch the clean walls or make any mess at all, but it soon reverts to your own house and you can enjoy living in a clean place in the colours you choose.

Hope everyone has a good day and is successful, whether it is getting the shopping or speaking to a friend or family.Or even actually getting through to the correct person in an office that you have been trying to get hold of such as the Teflon manager!!

Morning from S Hants, blue skies.
Happy Anniversary peli 🥂
Enjoy your trip Bellasnana ☀️
We came third in quiz last night, hurrah! It’s been a while. The voluntary phone was relatively quiet yesterday, MrJ resumed indoor bowls and I made dental appointments I’d been putting off.
Garden tidying today if it doesn’t rain, we’re sliding into Autumn.
Thoughts with the poorlies Blossoming and others.

Have a good holiday Marydoll, lovely photo. I am guessing you are going to Bamburgh Castle, enjoy. Northumberland is so scenic.

Good morning all and another lovely day forecast here in Essex. Tomorrow the weather is turning. We will be pleased of some rain. ☔️ here.

Yesterday DH’s blood test showed he has diabetes. No surprise to me. Docs on Thursday.

We spent time in our tiny garden, chopping and clearing. Dh can’t do too much as he can’t stand for long and his balance isn’t good. DS1 will come at the weekend to chop what we can’t reach.

Play reading this morning but not sure I will go, as I have Bridge this afternoon and I don’t like to leave Dh all day. Having said that, I’m meeting my old work colleague tomorrow for a trip down memory lane with lunch involved.

Peli happy anniversary. 💞.
Lovely photo 🦋.
Bellasnanna that dear dog. 🐾. Have a lovely day in Sicily

I hope all poorlies feel a little better today.

Good morning from a sunny NE.
Set the alarm for 7.30 but was wide awake at 6.30.
Hairdresser coming at 10am followed by SIL at 11am. Today is going to be shopping day as SIL has appointments tomorrow.
I rang GP surgery yesterday to ask for my appointment time to be rearranged, she said not possible and cancelled the one I had and told me to ring at the end of the month when they release appointments for next month. Last week I tried to book flu vaccination but was unsuccessful with that too.
Happy anniversary peli.
Enjoy your day in Sicily Bellasnana.
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, where we have a lovely blue sky and sunshine so far. Maybe a shower later?

Lovely photos this morning, thank you everyone. Enjoy your holidays, those who are away.

I slept so well last night that i am having trouble getting my brain into gear this morning! Hope I’ll feel more lively soon.

Have the best day possible everyone.

brook2704 Tue 09-Sept-25 07:36:00

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a sunny and bright start to the day
Some gorgeous photos this morning, thank you all
Happy Anniversary Peli 💐❤️🥂
I’m off to the gym for a couple of classes today, there’s time in between for a coffee with some friendly gym ladies. I’ll then do my usual riverside walk back into town and get the bus back home
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 09-Sept-25 07:28:11

Morning all from Devon. Rain is forecast again.

We are going to an NT place today - we decided not to go yesterday as I was exhausted from having little sleep. We went to a Fish Restaurant nearby and a drive to a beach.

I will ring my brother in Australia later. He rang yesterday but I was still in bed and half asleep.

Have a good day everyone. Here’s a picture of the sea.

Oh, crossed posts Ekwa mammogram is good, belt and braces but more worry

Ashcombe Tue 09-Sept-25 07:26:35

Good morning from a late (by my standards!) to the party contributor today from Torbay where it’s quite a pretty start with blue sky but some clouds around.

I slept later than usual, probably due to the exercise class which does give us a good workout. The teacher is so enthusiastic and supportive and I generally do feel better for going plus I’ve made some good friends there.

Your neighbour sounds like an ideal companion, grandMattie so I’m sure your visit will go well.

This is a useful website which gives up to the minute information about which trains are running, hollysteers:-

Those lucky children to have your interest in their school garden, RosesandLilacs and fruit freshly picked to enjoy!

Some well captured photos today of aspects of our wonderful world from big to small!

A good day to all, whatever befalls! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

karmalady Tue 09-Sept-25 07:26:19

Good morning from s somerset, goodness we had a lot of thunder and torrential rain yesterday and today will also be rain and cooler

*Ekwa I hope your visit to the doc was ok yesterday

I had to have something to do so made bags and then cleaned and oiled my very heavy sewing machine. It is a good solid make, a Bernina record 930. I hope the owner knows I am looking after it. These machines need to be cherished

I had a long long chat with my neighbour last night, she is an independent widow like me but younger and is always out driving long distances. We get on very well but are not in each others pockets. I am still being very tentative with new neighbour, widow, pleasant, needy. I don`t want to be digging a hole for myself

Small delivery of organics today, a walk in between showers and there are long periods of rain in the offing. Just knitting I think and ooh yes I watched `like father like son` after the recommendation the other day, very enjoyable. I can recommend `housewife 49` too, also on youtube. There are lots of hidden gems on there

Have a good day

EkwaNimitee Tue 09-Sept-25 07:19:05

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle.
The skies were clear at dawn, Venus shining high in the east and a huge moon in the west. How annoying that it was invisible behind heavy clouds for the eclipse. Lovely photo Greyduster, it wasn't golden here.

My visit to the surgery yesterday resulted in a mammogram being booked. Goodness knows when that will be but I'm not concerned about the lump.
I got out in the garden later, put a shrub in the border then planted another in one of my new raised beds.

Today I'll finish the laundry and clean up the bathrooms and kitchen. I'd like to start planting some of my many bulbs later. And mustn't forget the plumber is due to pop round to investigate my stopcock, my water supply won't turn off.

Enjoy Sicily Bellasnana, what an interesting island it is. Loved Taormina and edgy Palermo.

Do have a good day all of you if possible.

Marydoll Tue 09-Sept-25 07:16:42

Good Morning all from Berwick, I've no idea what the weather is like!

Just checking in and then out, there is no WiFi and I'm having withdrawals symptoms.
No novella, fortunately. A lucky escape, for I did I have a tale of woe to tell. 😉

We are having a lovely time. Change of plan, off to Bambury

Happy anniversary Peli.
Bellasnanna, I am green with envy.
GM, enjoy!

Enjoy your day all.

Good morning Mick and all from a dull northwest coast.
Off soon for a couple of days away in Hay on Wye with old friend. I’m bothered as there have been disruptions on my connecting line here with bus replacements before I meet him in the city. Timetables say they should be cleared by 8, fingers crossed. I should find a book or two I don’t need in Haye on Wye…

Lovely photos Peli and congratulations.

NannyJan53 Tue 09-Sept-25 07:00:57

Good morning from a bright blue skied Black Country.

Yesterday was full on, a 4 mile walk in the morning and an hour and 20mins Line dancing in the afternoon. My legs ached when I arrived home, had to have a little lie down! Not sure how much longer I can do both on one day, one will have to be ditched.

Over to Mums Bank today, to discuss and register with them the Power of Attorney. Then take Mum food shopping.

Happy anniversary to Peli flowers

Enjoy your day in Sicily Bellas I was there 2 years ago, would love to go back one day.

Wishing you all the best day possible

kittylester Tue 09-Sept-25 06:56:31

Good morning from a chilly but bright North Leicestershire.

I have a singing lesson at 9.15 and then I intend to finish sorting the children's bedroom.

Have to best day possible everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 09-Sept-25 06:52:13

Good morning, we are forecast a dry, sunny warm day.

Day 11, builders are making the most of the weather and shall be outside all day.

I have curtains and duvet sets to pick up from Next (children’s bedroom) I will also look in Dunelm for throws and cushions to match, along with new bedding for our room.

Then I have to post my sisters birthday gift, which I didn’t get round to yesterday, get a key cut which is near my favourite independent coffee/tea shop so it would be rude not to pop in ☕️🍰

Beautiful photos, Bellsnana we had a glorious holiday in Sicily when our children were much younger. Loved Taormina.

Thinking of our friends who are poorly and struggling with what life brings them 🙋‍♀️

Grandmabatty Tue 09-Sept-25 06:32:07

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 9° and dry. Dawn is just breaking with a fairly clear sky. Peli happy anniversary to you both. Bellasnana a lovely photo of Bertie. I couldn't join you as I am a very bad sailor. Greyduster such a gorgeous moon.
Yesterday went fairly well. Dgs2 ran the gamut of every emotion by ten in the morning, however he had a good day, mostly. Dgs1 is very forbearing of his tempestuous little brother. Soft play it was then back to grandma's house where the painter was busy at work. I am very pleased with the outside paintwork. It looks crisp. Later I dropped off dgs1 at his football training and dd arrived to pick up dgs2 not long after I got home.
Today I'll give the boys breakfast before taking them to school. Dgs1 has requested croissants. Dgs2 will have Weetabix. Then I need to nip to Tesco for a bottle of whisky for Dsil whose birthday is tomorrow. I have the rest of his gifts bought, if not wrapped yet. Later I'll drop off a present at my brother's house whose birthday it also is tomorrow. Then pick up the boys from school. Have a good day all

Greyduster Tue 09-Sept-25 06:28:47

Forgot to say Happy Anniversary!🥂💐

Greyduster Tue 09-Sept-25 06:28:05

Peli that’s a wonderful photo of a species we certainly don’t see hereabouts.

Nannyangel Tue 09-Sept-25 06:24:32

Good morning from Turkey . Back from walking the dogs by the sea and it’s going to be a lovely sunny day .
DD and GD staying all of September and my best friend from school ( friends for over 50 years) coming to visit , along with another lovely couple from UK . Happy days making memories smile love these times .

RosesandLilac Tue 09-Sept-25 06:15:34

Good morning from a hillside in south Glos, it’s a tad damp in places here after a deluge yesterday evening.
I love the thought of going to Sicily for the day Bellasnana , how envious am I (though the catamaran bit doesn’t appeal as a bad traveller)
Yesterday I spent an enjoyable couple of hours in the school garden, weeding and pruning. It was gloriously sunny with a definite autumnal tang to the air. I came home with pears and apples from the overladen fruit trees, there’s plums, quinces, two pear trees, seven apple trees and a medlar so a huge amount of fruit this year. The children can help themselves to the fruit at break time from the baskets in the big Wendy house.
Today my new mattress arrives! I so hope it’s more comfortable than the one it’s replacing. The store is taking this one back.
I want to do some watercolour painting today, I haven’t done any for a while.
I will take tiddler out first thing, bigger dog has her dog walker, before I get on with housework etc. A normal humdrum day today.
Wishing you all a happy day 🌹

Susan56 Tue 09-Sept-25 06:12:29
