First Memory

My niece and I were talking about first memories and I said I'd ask the Grans and she wanted me to let her know what the Grans said.

Mine is from when I was new to knickers. My father found a poo behind a chair and asked who had done it. I replied

"Mummy".

3 years old, dress in a red coat, bonnet and gaiter type trousers and my.maternal Grandma had just had a row with my Dad .

Sitting in my high chair, watching my brothers play table football.
I suppose I was about two.

Do you remember saying "mummy" or do you remember being told about it?

I have a memory of being in pushchair type contraption and my mother was chatting endlessly to someone - another woman. It was near a beach on a country lane and I was very fed up.

I know where it was and told her about it as an adult.
Apparently I must have been only 2.

I remember my twin brother and sister's christening. I was with a nanny watching from a gallery and being given 'satin cushion' boiled sweets (an unimaginable treat). I must have been about two as there is just under two years between us.

I have numerous memories from when I was two and from then on I remember events, people, places, food ( I was a greedy child) and my clothes. My memories are all visual, like watching a video.

As a toddler - standing in the garden in the early morning and being entranced by a shining drop of dew in a small orange flower. I can see it to this day ...........

I was 3, it was a lovely sunny summer day and I was in the back garden. My baby sister was in her pram and I was standing on tiptoe reaching in to tickle her, making her laugh.
My memory is like a black and white photograph.
