Good Morning Everybody ,
Its dark and its wet outside here in Brackley this morning.
My usual routine after breakfast , housework plus getting the bus to Bicester for a shop and meet those I know.
My health is OK, I looked back at my weight chart and I was my average weight 12 months back, as I have cut back on beer drinking this is probably the reason for weight loss.
Take Care,
Mick

A late good morning from the south coast. I’ve overslept due to being woken up by last night’s heavy rain beating on the conservatory roof.
Coffee with DD this morning. It’s her day off and as I haven’t seen her for over a week it will be nice to have a catch up.
Hope everyone has a good day.

aggie Wed 10-Sept-25 09:40:02

Good Morning from a wet Co Armagh
I have just recovered from my short break in Co. Wexford, it was very enjoyable, but I’m not used tomorrow so much entertainment!! I needed a few days of quiet , the area was very beautiful and dripping in history
Wednesday club restarts this am , so I’m off out now
Enjoy the day xx

Fine at present but serious rain threatened for later but as I only have singing I doubt if it will matter much. Lots of references to places where we have had lovely holidays in the past so I have enjoyed remembering them as my travelling days are behind me now. I seem to be spending my money on keeping the house in good order instead - gutter cleaning this week, very exotic!

Feelingmyage55 Wed 10-Sept-25 09:08:56

Good morning from autumn in the north of Scotland. I am stuck at home a lot just now for health reasons and family reasons so thoroughly enjoying all the fantastic posts of places that are being described here. So many enticing descriptions and photographs. I am making a list. Thank you all.

The heather around our village has been glorious but the best is over and the trees are turning autumnal very early. Thankfully we have some rain.

Wishing you all the best day you can.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 10-Sept-25 08:57:04

Morning all from a rather damp Devon. We visited Castle Drogo yesterday - amazing. I drove us and the rain coming back to the holiday house was the most insistent I have driven in for years.

We will go out for lunch today and also visit a nearby large house and grounds.

My thumb is much improved. I’m not wearing a support but still taking the odd painkiller.

Have a good day everyone and I’m thinking specially of the FGT2S and the MDs.

Jaxjacky Wed 10-Sept-25 08:36:26

Morning from a soggy S Hants, heavy rain overnight that was on the periphery of my sleep, more to come today.
Fingers crossed for choir Ashcombe
Good to see FGT and himself are being supported in a timely way.
Yesterday was more gardening, green bin is full, tomatoes will be next when it’s been emptied, the garden looks neater.
Granddaughter is having a contact lens fitting today, she has a special eye shape apparently.
I really ought to sort out my wardrobe…

Good Morning from Durham where there’s a grey overcast start to the day.
I never stopped yesterday, but can’t see much change, given my labour. Just re-arranging the deckchairs on Titanic comes to mind.
I’m meeting 2 friends for coffee at 10, then psyching myself up for a tip run - why do we hang onto leftover paint for years and years?
Could see the beach was absolutely heaving with tourists MD!*. It’s glorious, isn’t it? Are you nipping over to Holy Island - check the tides!

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning Mick and everyone from dry and brightish Carlisle. Showers may be due but they have been passing over in the last few days.
I have slept longer this morning, I expect it's due to the later dawns, the days are shortening so rapidly now.

Yesterday, I blitzed the bathrooms, today the kitchen and, just maybe, the ironing.
I made a start on bulb planting yesterday afternoon, someone came to collect some stuffing material I'd freegled and the plumber diagnosed that there wasn't a problem with my stopcock and showed me what to do...that's a relief.
Today, I need to do some chasing on the phone, someone's taking far, far too long to get something done.

I may start a new book though magazines are piling up. I just finished Craig Brown's A Voyage round the Queen which I thoroughly recommend, a standard biography of Her Majesty it isn't, a view of her via interactions with others largely. It's a hefty tome.

And wishing you all the best possible day especially if you and yours are suffering in any way.

Good morning from a dry NE, forecast is okay but it is not sunny yet.
SIL arrived 15 minutes after hairdresser left so I was ready to go shopping.
Returned home and had a lunch of ham, cheese and salad with black olive bread.
Rest of afternoon was spent online looking for a new computer for me, nothing wrong with the one I have but it is Windows 10 and support ends soon.
SIL found one with the spec suitable for my needs and we bought it, being delivered today.
Next job is to buy new TVs, mine won't let me access netflix or iplayer.
Quiet day today, just waiting for the delivery.
Enjoy hearing about holidays.
Have a good day.

Good morning from a greyer Norfolk. Lovely sunny day yesterday pootling around the coast. Today we shall go to the large antique centre so loved by Bargain Hunt.
Best wishes to all

BlueSapphire Wed 10-Sept-25 08:04:42

Good morning everyone from a cloudy and damp Northampton, thundery showers expected today.

Yesterday was bright and sunny apart from a sudden heavy downpour just after I got home late afternoon. We had a lovely walk in sunshine beforehand followed by coffee and chat, and then the heavens opened. A new walker joined our group yesterday, and halfway round I suddenly realised I knew of her once she mentioned her daughters' names. Her children were a couple of years younger than mine and had been at the same schools. We ended up having a good chat.

Nothing planned for this morning, but like Pantglas I shall be meeting a friend this afternoon at the cinema to see 'The Roses'. Better take my umbrella and raincoat I think. Have got a chilli out of the freezer for dinner when I get back.

Discovered last night that I had lost a filling, but it is good timing as I have a check up at the dentist booked for next Monday!

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Gingster Wed 10-Sept-25 07:39:01

Good morning and I think we’re forecast rain today.

I’m off to meet a friend, a few stops along from my station. We’ll have a wander on a trip down memory lane (where I was brought up). Then we’ll go back to her house for lunch and a long chat. We only see each other once a year.
We met at work nearly 60 years ago and have always kept in touch.

Dh has the chiropodist this afternoon and will enjoy his peaceful day.

Take care all 🍂🍁

Good morning from the Murathi in the Chania area of Crete. Weather is prefect being in the low to mid 80’s.

The hotel is ok. It’s all very Zen with everything square and lots of tinkling water everywhere but it somehow seems soulless. It’s also eye wateringly expensive to eat here (though breakfast is included). 24€ for a chicken ceasar salad for lunch seemed excessive. Today, we will have a very late breakfast and skip lunch. I’d say it only has a third occupancy and virtually nobody eats there apart from breakfast. We walked 1/3 mile into the village and ate there last night which was nice. Then today or tomorrow we will get a bus to Chania town about 20 minutes away.

Unfortunately, when we ate in the hotel on Monday night after we had arrived I broke part off a back tooth on some sourdough so hope I don’t inflict any more damage on it before we go home.

Have a good day everyone.

Grandmabatty Wed 10-Sept-25 07:37:13

The wild turkey bourbon was for Dsil. I'm not a big drinker these days!

ginny Wed 10-Sept-25 07:36:16

Good morning from a dull N.Bucks.
DH is off to golf in the hopes that the rain stays away.
My job this morning is to prepare apples for the freezer, not one I enjoy but I do like the apples.
I have an online sketch class at midday and then I shall be making sugar mice and gingerbread. houses all out of felt in preparation for our craft clubs entry in the Christmas tree festival. Don’t like to think of Christmas so early but these things take a lot of preparation and organisation.
Wishing all a good day especially those who are struggling in any way.

Grandmabatty Wed 10-Sept-25 07:36:15

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 13° and quite a bit of cloud. Bellasnana your day yesterday sounds wonderful. Ashcombe fingers crossed for the choir. Susan 💐 it's such a rollercoaster for you with your mum.
Yesterday I had a good day. The boys were fairly well behaved. Dgs1 has a lot to put up with as his wee brother is so tempestuous. I dropped them off at school then headed to Tesco to pick up a Colin the caterpillar cake for Dsil. Dd had asked if I could. I picked up magazines for the boys too. Then home to tidy and potter until I headed back to Tesco for Wild Turkey bourbon (Scottish alcohol laws). After I dropped them off at home, I tidied up again and had a pleasant evening TV watching.
Today I'm going to work in the school library for an hour then head over to my brother's with his birthday present. He has the same birthday day as Dsil. Then over to Stirling for lunch with a group of friends from school. I'm somewhat on the periphery of the group (always was) but it's nice to catch up a couple of times a year. Funnily enough, ds messaged me to ask if I wanted to go to Edinburgh for breakfast today. I've had to pass as the timings wouldn't fit. But it was so nice to get the invite. Dinner will be a sandwich. Have a good day all

GrannyIvy Wed 10-Sept-25 07:32:05

Good morning from a wet Cambridgeshire but we are on route to the sun today. Yesterday I travelled to have my hair cut and coloured with my lovely hairdresser of many years and did a little shopping. All the autmn clothes are in and there seem so many drab dark colours about this year! I love all the seasons but summer and the bright colours are my favourite.

Bella your day in Sicily sounded wonderful. A very long day but what an adventure. I loved Taormina when I visited many years ago.
Susan 💐
FGT 💐
Also all the best to everyone have the best day possible.

Good Morning all from Northumberland, where we have a beautiful sky.

I have just spent the last hour looking for my glasses.
They were beside the bed, when I went to sleep, but nowhere to be seen and there no space for them to fall down. I fear am going mad.

mama thank you for the info, DS2, who is usually au fait, knew nothing about it.
They were planning to visit that area tomorrow anyway!!

I had a fabulous day at the castle yesterday, such lovely and welcoming people.
I did smile when I was asked if I would like a ride on the accessible buggy and did my carer wish to come with me. I suspect I may be DH's, rather than him being mine.😉
Of course I did! It was only later, I realised, how steep the climb was!
However, I did sadly reflect on the fact that this is how things will be from now on, I need to accept that I must be careful and follow advice.
I had frequent breaks and sent the others to do their own thing, while I admired the glorious views.

Babydoll was quite feverish last night and wakened a few times.
DS is adamant that I have not to get up, saying I needed to rest. My grandmotherly instincts cannot deal with that!!

DH has an upset stomach this morning, so may not be coming out to Berwick itself. We will see how it goes.

Bellasnanna 💚💚💚💚💚💚 What a wonderful trip!

I wish you all the best of days and best wishes to all,, especially, those who are coping with illness and sadness. X

Greyduster Wed 10-Sept-25 07:23:39

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where there was a moody sunrise and I think we are in for a wet day. GS and I had a long and busy day yesterday - some heavy work in the garden, then we went out in search of more paint samples. They all look wonderful until you get them up to the wall and then they won’t do! Under my supervision he cooked our evening meal and then we watched Bake Off. Today there won’t be such an early start. We’ll see how the day unfolds. He has a telephone call scheduled with his other granny at lunchtime and then I’ve promised him we’ll make a shepherds pie.
Have the best day you can, folks.

madeleine45 Wed 10-Sept-25 07:21:16

Good morning Mick and all GN's from a slightly breezy but grey morning in North Yorkshire. With promises of heavy showers we shall see what arrives. Yesterday promised rain, but not a drop. Well definitely in swaledale and wensleydale they have their own microclimates and dont seem to take notice of the forecast!

So first part of the morning not in the order I intended, as managed to spill milk , and quite a lot of it as it slipped as I took it from the fridge, so dressing gown somewhat drenched and milk smells awful so no option but to get it in the washer and collected a few other things, and got that all shoved in the washer and myself sorted out , but at least moving a bit better today and not such a hassle. So rain or shine the washer will be whirling about, The dressing gown is quick drying, so even if I have to be putting it in and out on clothes horse it should be fine and dry and smelling good by this evening.

Much to celebrate as now signed off from the eye people and got the diabetic stuff and the doctor am now free to (hopefully) get back to a better routine. Tried to ring the swimming pool to check on todays session for disabled, but a load of hassle trying to get through and so must ring them this morning and check it out. So again my wednesday routine will be decided by what I hear from them. I used to have a years ticket, but that has finished and need to see how I get on first before lashing out a large sum of money.

You used to get priority with a pass to book a place when there was limited amount of people in Covid times etc, but dont even know if they session is still running on wednesday so it is check it out. If I can go today, then it will be checking on the swimming bag, trying to remember what else I used to take, then doing jobs this morning , having an early lunch and going down this afternoon where I shall swim, have a coffee, get the car filled up, and stay down there and probably have a chinese, that I can eat in my car with all my bits and pieces that I keep there as it wont be worth coming home before going to the whist drive in the small village. So I should be there earlyish and be able to read in my car until the doors open. So that is one plan, if however I cant get in or they have changed the day or whatever I shall be trying to get more of the dresser stuff sorted and clearing up here and then just going down to the whist, so we shall see how things pan out. Anyway I feel much better mentally, as I feel now a bit more in charge of my own life and dont have too many appointments with medical stuff for the next little while. I totally understand when you have to fit your life round other peoples for genuine reasons, but when you seem to be at everyones beck and call and cant call a day your own it is infuriating and of course reminds you of what a crock you are becoming that you need to do this!! So no special things today but will be very happy to just sort myself out and will be pleased to either swim or get more mess sorted.

Good news Mick when you see a reason for the weight loss and are not worried about it . Hope the day goes well and you dont get caught out in the rain. GrandMattie, I have a friend who is a great needlewoman and I will be telling her about the exhibition so that she can watch out for it coming and also pass it on to other sewing friends. I would like to see it myself but as an admirer, not a sewer who will be looking at it with more knowledgeable eyes. Bellasnana glad you had such a good day but no doubt glad to have a rest today. We do tend to forget how much effort it costs us to do things we found easy in the past and are surprised at the time needed to recuperate. I sometimes think that not only we forget how much extra effort it is these days, our children see us looking just the same as 10 years ago and dont remember it takes us more effort these days either. Susan56 you recognise this today I am sure. Hope you can get a rest and take things steadily today . Ashcombe hope you get in and enjoy the Bach B minor, a wonderful piece to sing and listen to. Sadly there is no choir doing any Bach this term so wish I could transport myself on choir nights to your one! GrannyGravy hope the rain holds off until they have got the scaffolding put up and a good idea to make your escape.

Well time to try and ring the swimming pool and check on their offerings and then that will decide my programme for the day, unless something else comes up unexpectedly. Hope there is something positive to get done today anyway, Fingers crossed we can all have a good day and manage to do something we want to do. All the best with your days

Redcar Wed 10-Sept-25 07:03:43

Good morning everyone fro mid Essex. It’s a bright morning but with quite a lot of high cloud, showers are forecast for later. Hope we get some rain soon, the ground is still quite dry here. Yesterday was a lovely sunny day and pleasantly warm.

Nothing planned for today, I need to go to the post office and have some ironing to do.

grannygravy sitting outside in the sun with a coffee and a book sounds a very pleasant way to spend an hour or two!

roses andlilac I hope the dental appointment goes well.

Have the best day possible everyone.

karmalady Wed 10-Sept-25 07:03:11

Good morning from very wet s somerset. lots more rain with dark skies due today

Yesterday afternoon was an indoor day, it was pouring, so I cut out two tops, a pattern I must have made a dozen times over the years, stylearc maddison. It has elbow sleeves and is raglan. I was wearing my last good one yesterday and wear two old ones on the allotment. Just perfect for this weather. I had stash, bought while I had a code during the sew-a-long weekend. It was cheaper than this and both are border prints and very different, this one is french terry, the other is slightly lighter stretch cotton

www.fabricgodmother.co.uk/multina-tiles-border-french-terry-jersey-ivory/

It was fun trying to get a top out of each but I managed to cut so that the sleeve hems have the borders. I really don`t like all the cutting faff if not in the mood, all the tidying away etc

I needed a break from the gansey so did an hour back in my sewing room during the evening. I have a new serger, I did buy it 2 years ago for my birthday and Christmas combined, I used it once and reverted back to familiar old faithful. I want to release that one for a dgd soon, it never even stuttered on me, in all that time. New serger is wonderful and it threads itself, I will quickly get used to it

I slept better last night after having started one top, I was horrified to use black thread, when under the serious lamp, the background is actually dark maroon not black, luckily I only did darts so none of it was visible,I can change colours today

Today I need to think about meals and am expecting my new led serious lamp, the old one is fine but is too warm on my face as I need it close to my knitting. That old one is moving to my reading chair. I want to sew, to wear the first new top tomorrow

My butternut squashes are now ripened and will keep for months, I need to clear a convenient area in my garage as I will have 20 squash to store. I doubt I will do the clearing today though, I want better weather for that and the butternuts are fine in my mini greenhouse until I am ready

So I am back in my slow and calm pace of life today, as befits autumn

Have a good day

kittylester Wed 10-Sept-25 06:58:01

Good morning all from a rainy North Leicestershire.

DH is off to the gym and our cleaner is due at 9.

We are going out for a Champagne afternoon tea this afternoon. A present for my birthday (in January!!) from DH. We've had a busy year.

We eventually watched Thursday Murder Club yesterday afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Have the best day possible everyone.

brook2704 Wed 10-Sept-25 06:57:27

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dry with light grey clouds
Sounds like you enjoyed such a lovely day yesterday Bellas
I’ve a busy day ahead, a volunteering session this morning then a quick change before onto the gym for a couple of classes later. I’ve still got to do a proper food shop sometime too
Hoping you get into the choir Ash 🤞
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Sallyforth Wed 10-Sept-25 06:52:36

Good morning Mick and everyone from a bright morning in Cheshire. A 'squadron' of geese were flying as I opened the curtains.

The second day of my house alterations and yesterday went perfectly. The men were very skilled and worked solidly for 5 hours. Next phase today. Very pleased with it all. Unfortunately the current blinds at two new windows won't do, so I need to search for new ones. The old ones 'don't owe me anything' as the saying goes, but I do like them.

A trip to Ikea is necessary, but will meet my DD there. Everything is ordered so it's just to pick up.

Enjoy your day whatever you have planned. Kind wishes for those with worries. flowers
