Good morning from a sunny Norfolk where we have pack up to leave by 10 o’clock. We are going to stay with DB for a few days.
Best wishes

Good morning everyone. A dry start here in N.Bucks and the sun is trying to peep through.
Yesterday’s trip to town was successful. I ordered new glasses and got another pair free. Bought a new winter jacket in M & S and discover that my Sparks card enabled me to have 20 % off.
We got lots of ideas for the redecoration of our lounge and are now thinking of having new sofas too. DH spotted a cabinet for the hallway that he rather liked and a new rug we had ordered arrived just as we returned home.
DH is off to golf today and I have a list of ‘things to do’, mainly crafting.
Will be at DD3s this evening to look after the boys whilst she and SIL go to a comedy event in town.
Thinking of GNs who are poorly or troubled in any way and a good day wished for all.

Good morning Mick and all GN;s on a slightly breezy but dry grey morning here in North Yorkshire. Looks as though there has been a shower or two in the night. Somewhat bleary eyed at the moment as have been going through some of the 900 and more heritage places open in Yorkshire. Still havent been through them all, so will be plodding on through a few more later. Then like a child in a sweety shop I shall have to choose which ones I am going to visit! Even if I cant visit the places today, I have seen many things that I know about, but also am now alerted to some places I did not know about. For example St Cuthberts church in Marton near Middlesborough has mouseman Robert Thompson furniture to see. So I do recommend you have a look at what is on offer in your area if you have not already done so. Trouble choosing though, a couple of NT places open for free too!

Well after my good wednesday, I didnt go to the meeting on thursday as had so much stuff needed to be dealt with here, and still wading through the clearing the dresser job. So by yesterday evening I was very pleased with all the efforts, The kitchen, bathroom and bedroom all cleaned up and floors swept and hoovered, and had plans to tackle the ironing mountain with my new iron. Had been on the computer and suddenly felt very cold and back hurting so decided to go and stretch out on my bed and just watch the news and get warm before carrying on. Best laid plans of mice and men! I woke up about 9.30pm, having had nothing to eat, the iron sat on the top unfilled and so it was not worth starting then. Had to make myself a sandwich and a drink or I would have been waking up very hungry, so just did that, and then got ready for bed, and did some reading and a bit of sorting until about half past midnight. Of course, didnt feel like sleeping then but just had radio 3 on very low and eventually got off to sleep but awake by just before 5am.

So of course the ironing is ignored, this morning, as I now need to get a little shopping, something for a sandwich lunch and then it is decisions ,decisions ,about what I might get to today and planning for tomorrow and sunday to make the most of these chances to visit places. Just fingers crossed that my back holds up ok or that there are enough places to sit. My yorkshire spirit cannot let such chances go to waste and also want to support all the efforts people have made to open churches and unusual places that you dont get a chance to see on other days. So once again it will be throw all sorts of clothes in the car from walking boots to sunhats, but looks like a mac will be the most needed thing, and then have addresses will travel! Ah hurrah a little sunshine coming through and a couple of rather fat pigeons wandering around outside but no sign of the squirrel this morning.

Ah Mick , hope the weather keeps dry for your trip to Bicester, and is it a proper fair where you can have a go on the merry go round or just stalls? GrandMattie, you will have to take a dictionary with you to the tai chi class to point out the GOUT column for your teacher. Now you can do it , with your Teflon manager meeting with the residents. Try imagining yourself dressed in full mail armour with one of those spiky balls and chains, that you will ride into the meeting with teflon and demolish his flimsy armour. Your armour is your rightful armour. They are not doing their job and need to be forced into getting on with the jobs. Dont forget to have your extra back ups of talking about speaking to local and national papers about their rubbish attitude all over the country, and asking your local council to have a meeting with all the residents to be brought up to date and look at the length of time you have waited for anything to be done. Surely they are also not complying with their agreements with you all and perhaps mutterings about lawyers letters and compensation for poor or non service which you are all paying for, your time which you have spent far too much on them, which you could start charging them for , etc. Dont give up now and I know you can keep going, and we are all behind you on this. Then you can envisage the celebration meal or drink that you are all going to have when you WIN!! Also when you talk to your residents say things like , we really need this sorted by say Bonfire Night, and you have far too much to get on with in your own life to waste much more time on this lot. But most importantly, now is the time to show that you will not give way and they will not wear you down, more the other way. Good luck in the meeting and take a deep breath , stand up straight and show them you mean business, which you DO!! Bellasnana, a good job all that sorting out and perhaps when they leave you can go and look at the good job done and feel pleased at the new layout. Oh how I could do with someone to come in here and help! Karmalady, good photos. I have not got into the way of taking photos. My husband used to enjoy it and do such a good job I didnt bother but maybe this year I shall learn to use my phone in a better way

Well that bit of sun seems to have gone in now and it is grey again so I had better get going and get into the shops before it gets busy and get my local paper to see what is happening round here this weekend! Hope everyone has a good day, and gets a chance to do something they want to as well as all the things you need to do. Enjoy your day

Good morning from a bright and sunny midlands.
Granddaughter is 18 today. I won’t get to see her but I did send stuff in the post.
Also a great friend is 80 today. Won’t see her either because we live 200 miles apart.
I can’t cheer up lately and must go to the doctors - more black dog days.
Hugs

brook2704 Fri 12-Sept-25 07:26:49

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve grey clouds, it looks windy and with showers in the forecast
It’ll be so hard to say goodbye tomorrow Bellas, I hope you can keep busy over the weekend, safe travels to your DD
I’ve got a lunchtime class at the gym but other than that nothing planned. It’s not much of a gardening day so will probably get on with things inside.
Well done with sorting out your clothes roses I’ve still got all that to do
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Grammaretto Fri 12-Sept-25 07:17:32

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It's cool and showery. I left my raincoat at the yoga hall where it's locked in until next week.

It's my usual Friday shift at the community store this morning and a friend for supper tonight.

What a successful Summer you've had Karmalady with so many creations.

I hate goodbyes too Bella 😞

Good luck with your management dealings GM

Wishing everyone a good day.

Morning all from a damp Devon.

This is our last full day here and apart from torrential rain we have enjoyed our holiday.

Lunch out and then a trip to a large property. On our return we need to start packing. We have to leave the holiday house by 10 am tomorrow.

Yesterday was good. Lunch followed by a visit to a glass blower - I bought a glass bird as a present for our granddaughter. Then we popped into a pottery where I bought a beautiful bowl. OH got chatting to the potter about our recent experiences. She kindly gave us some advice and a demonstration on the wheel!

Have a good day. I hope your telephone consultation goes well MaryD and I’m thinking of FGTS2.

Redcar Fri 12-Sept-25 07:05:15

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. Another lovely bright sunny morning, I think a few showers are forecast again. Yesterday was fine but breezy and cool until school pickup time, when the heavens opened. My newly seeded patches of grass were well watered.
It’s lunchtime bingo with friends today, then my hairdresser will arrive to tidy and colour my shaggy mop!

susan a sad day for you yesterday, but comforting that so many came to support your brother at the funeral.
cornergran I hope today is a better day for you!
Have the best day possible everyone.

RosesandLilac Fri 12-Sept-25 07:04:37

Good morning, it’s wet, chilly and the skies look stormy here in south Glos, welly boots on for the early dog walk.
I didn’t sleep well for no obvious reason 🙄, exasperating.
I enjoyed my trip to the hairdressers yesterday, had another perm so mophead is me! I do love my curls.
I bought fish and chips for lunch, very tasty and a real treat.
I spent the rest of the day swopping over my clothes, there are two bags of them for the charity collection next week - Anglo Collection pick them up from your door, very convenient.
I have art group this morning, looking forward to seeing everyone again.
I hope today goes well for you all 🌹

Good morning from Glasgow, where it is 10°C with showers.

GM, you have such a busy life and I know from experience, it sometimes can be too much for our tired brain and body.
Good luck with your meeting.

Our journey home from holiday was relatively uneventful, ( unlike the journey there) apart from the Edinburgh traffic jams. I thought Glasgow was bad!
DH stopped at McArthur Glen, where I was hoping to buy my Molton Brown, Rose Absolu shower gel, which is much cheaper at the outlet.
It was only when I got out of the car, I realised I had left my stick at the holiday venue. Panic set in, for I am quite unsteady these days, it has an ergonomic handle and was measured accurately by the OT for my very short leg length. 😱
I got my phone out to message DS, who was staying another day, to find missed cals and a photo of Babydoll walking with my stick.🤣
Fortunately I keep a spare folding one in DH's car for such situations.
On the way round the centre, a lady stopped me and asked where I had got my purple stick, I said, The boot of my husband's car 🤣

In addition to the missed call from DS, there were a number of missed calls from the surgery over the last two days.
I could feel the knot in my stomach twisting, for I knew that my test results would be in.
It would have been necessary for me to put my phone on speakerphone, (my hearing is still problematic), but I certainly wasn't doing it in the middle of a shopping mall, so decided to wait until I got home.
On arriving home, there were also messages on the landline answer machine, this did not bode well.
This afternoon, I have a telephone consultation with a GP to discuss. the results of my recent tests.
I am not looking forward to it.

To the Gransnetters, who live in Northumberland, what a beautiful area, you live in, it is stunning! Everyone I met was so friendly and kind.

Susan, I hope that you managed to get through yesterday's events, especially as you have been so poorly. 💐

DH in his wisdom has organised a visit from the Virgin engineer today, which is the last thing I need, 😔
I'm off to Sainsburty's!

I wish you all a pleasant day and of course, my very best wishes for all with mountains to climb. 💐

Sar53 Fri 12-Sept-25 06:53:47

Good morning from the Essex coast where it is a little chilly but bright and sunny.
We have a meeting with a Travel Agent in town this morning then DH will drop me home before going to his beloved boat.
Have a lovely day everyone and a good weekend, best wishes to all xx

Susan56 Fri 12-Sept-25 06:47:39

Good morning from Shropshire.A dry day forecast.

Thank you so much for your kind words and messages yesterday. They really helped. It was a beautiful service celebrating the life of my niece but obviously very sad and a lot of tears. All of my cousins travelled to support my brother which was so kind. Some who had never met my niece travelled hundreds of miles to support him.So many friends with stories to tell and memories to share.

I haven’t slept much which was inevitable but I am sure I will tonight.I will have a quiet morning then collect the children later for their usual Friday sleepover. We all have the beginnings of a cold so will be a quiet time.DH hopes to mow the lawns as rain every day after today for a week if the forecast is to be believed.

I hope Blossoming is feeling better and that Marydoll is safely home.Thinking of FGT’s.

Wishing everyone a good day🦩🌻

Good morning Mick and everyone from a grey morning in Cheshire. I've got a day of people coming to do various jobs, plasterer, decorator to give an estimate, usual morning for cleaner, man coming to sort out my rose trees, Why do I do this to myself? Cup of coffee then will get showered and ready to face the day.

Teen GS is coming to stay overnight and I'm looking forward to spending time with him. He will set up my new laptop.

Enjoy your day whatever you have planned. Kind thoughts for those with worries. flowers

karmalady Fri 12-Sept-25 06:31:37

Top abd squashes

karmalady Fri 12-Sept-25 06:30:55

Good morning from s somerset, rain and fairly bright today

The walk did not happen yesterday, I got the urge to go to the allotment, to prematurely cut my crown prince squash, they are big, the leaves are dying and rain is forecast day after day, they can do their curing at home in my mini greenhouse. I also brought some pears home from the communal table

Top two is finished, those tops take about two hours to sew. This one is warmer. Today I am just crafting and generally pottering plus having my hair cut

That was an awkward time GM, there but not able to do or say anything. Its a pity that dd had not established a rule about no phones at the table

Cooling is definitely happening in the house, I have a warmer dressing gown on

Have a good day

Good Morning fr MS. Sunshine & 33c. Thinking of everybody.🌸

grandMattie Fri 12-Sept-25 06:21:44

No, ash, I think it’s regular behaviour from Iris as they talk about family take it their stride and generally don’t plead with her. This seems to be usual mealtime behaviour. I find it exhausting.

Ashcombe Fri 12-Sept-25 06:10:16

Good morning from a breezy but dry Torbay with sunshine forecast. Squally showers punctuated periods of bright sunshine yesterday.

I guess Iris was making the most of all three grandparents being there as an audience, grandMattie. My DGS2 behaves awkwardly at times when we’re there although I gather this phase is passing now he is in Y11. I hope your residents' meeting goes well.

An early start for me to buy a few things in Lidl and take advantage of some offers on my Lidl Plus App., including some freebies!

Thinking of those who are in difficulties of any kind. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

cornergran Fri 12-Sept-25 06:04:05

Morning Mick, morning All from a very wet corner of Somerset.

The least said about yesterday the better. It passed! I’m looking forward to my volunteer stint this morning and with luck a quiet afternoon.

Hope all goes well at your preparatory meeting grandmattie.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Bellasnana Fri 12-Sept-25 06:03:10

Good morning from Malta where today’s high is forecast to reach 35°C. No sign of summer ending just yet, thank goodness.

Yesterday DD1 was an absolute star helping me sort out my garage, a job I have been putting off for years.

She is more ruthless than I am and not sentimental so has a more practical approach to getting rid of things. She also packed it all in her car and took it to the tip, saving me the trauma!

I had not kept an eye on the time so was late for my nail appointment. No time for nail art, so they are just plain pink but I’m happy with that.

Nothing much to do today apart from hairdo later and tonight a family dinner as DD1 and Bertie depart at 5.30am tomorrow.

It never gets any easier having to say goodbye. I’m dreading it.

grandMattie sending you a big hug. You’ve got so much on your plate, no wonder you can’t sleep.💐

Wishing a good day to all.☀️

grandMattie Fri 12-Sept-25 05:40:59

Good morning from Bristol.
We are having another squally day; it seems that the usual October equinoctial storms are occurring now.
Yesterday went well. At my taichi class, the teacher does a lot of acupressure. As I’m having trouble with gout atm so asked him for suggestions last week. He is Portuguese, misheard me and devoted all the class to gut problems! 😆
Dinner at DD’s was stormy as Iris had her usual tantrums. She never takes notice of requests, especially re. mobile during meals, then flounces out in a rage/tantrum if told off. It’s very wearing.
DD’s in-laws were there. They are perfectly pleasant but I always feel like the proverbial gooseberry as they talk about people and events I know nothing about.
I came back early as I had a meeting about the village Christmas festival. Streets are closed, buses rerouted, mulled wine and mince pies, carols…. The church is a bit of a haven as it is quiet, free, with things for children to do things.
I’ve had a bad night, probably as I’m feeling very anxious about chairing a residents’ meeting. We want to establish what will be discussed at the meeting with our Teflon area manger on Monday. This will be most unpleasant, but we want to avoid it being stormy. The management seems to be tired of our complaints and doing something about it, especially before Monday’s meeting. I’m not holding my breath.
May today and the weekend be full of contentment and peace.
FGT and family 💐
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good Morning Everyone,
A dark but dry start to the day here in Brackley.
My usual routine after housework , get the bus to Bicester ,mind you cannot use the proper bus stop because of the Annual Town Fair , so a temp stop just a seat and no shelter .
Watch TV and the last few days of the Tour of Spain which has seen its fair share of protestors trying to stop the event.
Health OK
Take Care,
Mick
