I have one bad habit that I wish I could give up. I get the munchies in the evening and end up raiding the biscuit tin or the fridge.

Too many sweet things -far more than I ate before .
Too much wine if it's in the house .
Too much TV .
Too much time on my phone .

Salted peanuts in the evening. My only vice.

Picking at 2 or 3 am! Poor sleep has a lot to answer for. Book/Kindle often aren't enough.

Spending too much time on GN and MN.

I've the same one as you, Babs. I'm sensible with food all day but can't resist picking at bits and pieces in the evening. I wish I could stop it! angry

Feeling the need to do at least half the puzzles on THE i PAPER app before I take our dog out. That sometimes means I’m ready to go just as the rain starts!

I'm afraid I have a habit that is worse than all the above. I.......take a deep breath and admit it.....smoke sad. Just can't kick the addiction habit.

Ruminating.

It's a type meditation really you know.
It's relaxing too, don't worry, ruminate. 😊

Spending too long on GN when I should be cleaning, washing, gardening on my allotment etc.

valdavi Fri 12-Sept-25 16:30:33

I argue too much, I dont take time to think if silence would be a more effective response...
although most people don't trigger my "argue" button, but a fair few do...

Ruminating.

Another vote for procrastination
My saying is slightly different
Never do today what you can do tomorrow
Plus hopefully you might even forget about it

Lesley60 Fri 12-Sept-25 16:22:11

I spend far to much time on my I pad playing candy crush and I even purchase extra lives

Babs03 Fri 12-Sept-25 16:15:52

I admit to procrastination as well. My saying is never put off till tomorrow what you can do next week. The trouble is the amount of time I spend worrying about the things I have to do isn’t worth the extra time gained.

AGAA4 Fri 12-Sept-25 16:06:35

Definitely procrastination with me. It certainly is the thief of time.

Labradora Fri 12-Sept-25 15:31:29

Procrastination ( I'll do it next week....)
Worrying about stupid trivial things when I know how many people worldwide have real, unbelievably serious troubles.

Kate1949 Fri 12-Sept-25 14:57:56

Too much wine

dogsmother Fri 12-Sept-25 14:49:30

Babs….me too I’m a terrible picker, my strategy is now to try with healthy snacks. Nuts, fruit and such like. But I am very much greedier as day goes on. I was a smoker many years ago and my habit was to start at lunchtime and have more and more as the day went on so it’s a habit much like that was. Glad it’s not alcohol, maybe I’ll be able to change it down to something else.

Another one here Crossstichfan
I actually stopped biting my nails years ago but the damage to them, probably the nail bed, is so severe that although they now grow, they split both vertically and horizontally as soon as a decent length is reached.
I have to cut them very short and the best description is neat and workmanlike.

hollysteers Fri 12-Sept-25 14:03:15

Crossstichfan You have my sympathies 👍

Crossstitchfan Fri 12-Sept-25 13:44:28

Similar to me, Hollysteers. I bit my nails from the time I had teeth. I started wearing false nails in 1965 when I got married. I still wear them now because if I didn’t, I would bite them again, and also, they look so disgusting. The trouble is, after all this time, they don’t really grow, so on the odd occasion I have left the acrylics off, I have immediately bitten them again. Nail strengtheners and all the products recommended to stop me biting them have been useless. I am embarrassed and annoyed with myself.
75 years or so is a long time!

hollysteers Fri 12-Sept-25 13:33:37

I used to pick my fingers, especially my thumbs, all the time, going about with band aid wrapped round them. I’ve solved it with acrylic nails, replaced every few weeks. I don’t want acrylic nails really, but I can’t pick with them!
The habit is there and would return if I stopped the acrylics.

I have a desktop computer and I spend hours on it
