Time to get the jumpers out

I tried on all my jumpers yesterday and filled a bin bag with ones to donate. Am I wrong to be delighted that I might need a few ones now?

My winter wardrobe is in my one big wardrobe with all my other clothes, I never put winter clothes away, pulled out my most comfy old jumper yesterday, a bit bobbly but still good to wear in public, is just the right length resting on my bum, and feels like a hug.

😂my downstairs cleaner lives under the stairs. I don’t let them out very often if I can help it.

Going to ask my cleaner to move in to my upstairs cupboard now! That would be very convenient. I feel much better now for only having two wardrobes although they are crammed full!

No jumpers as yet here in the South West , temperature still pretty mild, wind though ferocious !
This morning did have to accept socks required. Hate that moment.
Will sort out warmer clothes at some point but will delay as long as possible.
Wind has brought down masses of apples which are now sorted, wrapped and stored so not all bad news.

There are four wardrobes in my house. In one I keep dresses, skirts and trousers another one has tops and cardigans. Coats in another and the last wardrobe is home for my upstairs cleaner.

No putting away and getting out as the seasons change for me.

@beechnut. You employ a cleaner for upstairs and she lives in a cupboard. Do you live in a mansion?

I never put seasonal clothes away as I tend to layer up in the colder months. I did finally put the duvet back on my bed last night after waking up the previous night with freezing cold feet and hands.

I have a few cotton long sleeved jumpers that bridge the gap nicely until real jumper weather.Mornings and evenings are feeling nippy now tho.

Trying to delay putting on winter jumpers.
We have just returned from a holiday in Menorca. It was very hot and humid and I am shocked how cold it has suddenly become in the UK.
It's only September 14th but it's freezing!

I’ve just got back from lunch at DD’s. She greeted me with,
‘Ooh, love your top. Is it new?’
Nope but feels like it because I only wore it twice before the weather changed earlier this year.
Now, I wonder what else is awaiting rediscovery.

We put the central heating on last night. I changed my 4.5 tog quilt fur a warmer one and I am wearing a jumper.
My winter drawers are definitely on.

I felt it a bit cooler today, had socks on yesterday and today, thats the first for months. still wearing summer tops as I don't go out much, and I can't stand it if the house is too warm, OH always turns the heating up..

I'm still in the cardigan wearing stage and need a couple of new ones. Out shopping today I felt frustrated at what was in the shops- mostly very short cropped styles which would not suit me at all. When I did find longer styles they were all such dull and boring colours... can't wait for jumper weather!

I meant to add, I love “rediscovering” my winter clothes, it feels like a whole new clothes shopping trip.
And easier on the wallet.

My winter stuff is packed up in the loft and I need to wait for my cleaner on Wednesday to help get it down. Fortunately I do have some warmer clothes still down or I’d be a very chilly Millie by now!

ginny Sun 14-Sept-25 14:40:52

For the first time today I have had a jumper in from first thing. I want to sort and put away summer stuff but we are going to Malta next month so will need them again.

Grandmadinosaur Sun 14-Sept-25 10:39:09

For various reasons my winter jumpers never got put away. I’d left them in a pile in the back bedroom to go away in the top boxes. Waited for DH to do the honours but nope just stayed there.
So now they are ready for me when I need them. Saying that I’m a person who hangs on to summer stuff as long as I can and I live in the north.

Decided yesterday here in South East it would be a good day to put the short sleeved teeshirts away . I also sorted out summer skirts that I haven't worn for years so they're ready for the charity shop. DH's mobility is not good so also raided his wardrobe. I don't think he'll notice as he always wears what nearest to him in the wardrobe!

Jumpers are packed away at the top of the wardrobe. I get quite excited when I get them down as I'd forgotten what I do have and how many.

Still hoping for an indian summer but I'm ready in case it doesn't happen. Really cool here today. I'm sure I'm not the only one.
