The Sting is a brilliant film. And Jeremiah Johnson.

The Sting is the only film I can recall where the cinema audience stood up, clapped and cheered when he opened his eyes at the end.

Loved Robert Redford. Loved his looks, his acting and his films. Also admired his character and the dedication to the film industry as a whole involving himself in so many different aspects. Also his charity work.

My sentiments entirely - had the same effect on me.

He was perfect opposite Meryl Streep in Out of Africa - one of my all time favourite films.

I can’t watch Out of Africa again.
Just this morning on the radio they played the Mozart piece from the film where he had died and Karen was left with nothing.
I welled up 😥

Loved him.

RIP Robert Redford. He was my first heart throb when I saw the film The Way We Were, one of my favourite films of all times. He founded and leaves a great legacy in The Sundance Film Festival and Studio - a beautiful man inside and out.

I remember reading an interview with him years ago . He said his children used to skit him saying ‘R, R , Superstar , who the heck d’you think you are!’
Obviously they kept him grounded . 🤣

He was certainly a screen presence for many years but he lived a full and long life that is to be celebrated.

I've thoroughly enjoyed Robert Redford's films except his portrayal of Denys Finch - Hatton in Out of Africa .
DFH was very upper crusty and English and Robert Redford wasn't.
RIP 💐

And don’t forget him in Sneakers a very entertaining movie that often gets overlooked.

One of those bits of news that make one feel extremely old. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid was the first grownup film I saw with friends and not with my parents!

Impossibly handsome - as a teenager I loved him at first sight; he had a strong moral compass too. Terence Stamp, and now Robert Redford.....it's too much.

Oh I hope we get a few of his films on TV very soon. Barefoot in the Park with Jane Fonda is one of my favourites, it’s 58 years old and (hopefully) still very funny. Can’t think of a film of his that I didn’t enjoy.
RIP Robert Redford ❤️

The end of an era. He was 89 but I'm still finding it hard to believe sad.

RIP Robert Redford. An indecently beautiful man and , as someone has already said, a decent actor to boot.
Wonderful Films; The Way we Were ; Butch Cassidy; Out of Africa; All the Presidents Men ; Horse Whisperer...............
What a loss . I had no idea he was that old.!!
Died in his sleep. A blessing.

Not forgetting The Horse Whisperer. Another tearjerker.

I loved that film too. The older he got, the handsomer he became.

Looking forward to TV playing all his films as a tribute to him.

So sorry to hear this today. He had a remarkable film career, my personal favourites, Butch Cassidy, certainly the only western I have enjoyed, mainly because it was different from all the rest. Out of Africa and The Way we Were. Maybe there'll be a run of them now.

RIP Robert Redford you gave us some wonderful cinematic experiences.
