Anyon remember Erika Roe, the Twickenham streaker who decided to liven up half time by doing a streak across the pitch way back in 1982? I have looked online and Ms Roe, who was briefly a glamour model off the back of her streak, now lives in Portugal, owns an Air B and B and grows fruit. Odd when I saw the rugby last week I started thinking of Erika Roe and wondered what became of her after 1982.

I suppose a lot of Big Brother winners would fall into this category as the show's popularity has fallen over the years. They'll probably get a feature in a celeb mag, be plastered all over a television station's website for a week, and then fade away,

B hell! I do usually check! 'She was on'.

LadyBridgerton Sun 21-Sept-25 18:49:58

How does 'She was I'm morph into Abscess???

Not quite so long ago but a similar academic superstar was Gail Trimble. I just looked her up. She was on UC in 2009. I remember Mitch Benn wrote a song about her on the Now Show.

Abscess on Only Connect a few years back.

I can remember a singer called Joe Dolce who had a number 1 hit in 1981 called Shaddap Ya Face, where he sang with an Italian accent. Never heard of again.

Twinkle - Lynn Ripley

Kate1949

Twinkle was actress Fay Ripley's aunt.

Well, there's a claim to fame!

Does anyone remember the documentary in the 80's called The Family? I think it was classed as the 1st fly on the wall at the time. It followed the lives of a mum, dad and their children.

I remember watching a documentary programme featuring the Wilkins family from Reading during the 1970s but I can't remember what it was called.

I think we might be talking about the same programme, first shown in 1974, but maybe not.

I can remember there was a programme called The Family, I think I watched some of it but can’t recall any of it except I think they have been dysfunctional..
Am I correct?

I remember that, the first reality show ever wasn’t it?

Anyone remember Fergus Fish? It was an hilarious cartoon. I loved it.

Calendargirl Sat 20-Sept-25 20:17:08

P.S.

Just looked it up, Carol Dilworth, ex The Golden Shot.

Calendargirl Sat 20-Sept-25 20:14:37

I thought Chip Hawkes was gorgeous. 🥰

Trying to think who he married (Chesney’s mum) without googling it.

She was blonde, think she was a hostess on a game show…

Allira Sat 20-Sept-25 19:39:17

Ps who are the Kardashians?

Allira Sat 20-Sept-25 19:38:50

So why did you ask?
🤔

M0nica Sat 20-Sept-25 19:37:27

I have no interest whatsoever in popular music or entertainment. I only know about people in that world when they appear in the news, rather than entertainment or show biz news. So I know about Taylor Swift, the Kardashians and others because they are in the ordinary daily news.

Just shows how quickly she was forgotten, I thought her name was Sparkle.

Who is Chesney Hawkes?

Who is Chesney Hawkes?
I won't tell DD you asked that 😁

He had a No 1 hit called The One and Only in 1991 although I don't think he wrote the song; his father was in The Tremeloes.
He still writes for others and is a producer. He has appeared in many TV programmes over the years, too.

Oh yes, Tiny Tim who was 6'1"! He died on stage during a performance.

And Twinkle.

Both died too young ☹

Just asked Mum who has popped in, I couldn’t think of any but she says ‘Twinkle’ and ‘Tiny Tim’ who were one hit wonders back in the 60’s.

So many people think "Oi'll give it foive" was Juke Box Jury! As said above, it was Thank Your Lucky Stars. Not sure what became of Janice!

GrannyGravy13 Sat 20-Sept-25 14:25:07

Chesney Hawkes has returned to live in U.K. with his family after living in L A for many years.
