Princess Anne

Ive always liked Anne because she doesnt give a dogs damn what anyone thinks of her and goes her own way. She is said to have a very dry sense of humour and I can well believe the anecdote about flying.

I was working in a large punlic building where she opened a new wing. One of my colleagues was being presented and I taught her how to curtsy properly (my colleague not Princess Anne). It was many years ago and the plaque said Princess Anne, Mts Mark Phillips. I wonder if that plaque is still there.

She always does her homework and knows exactly what she is talking about when she meets members of the public.

Not a fashion horse either, but always looks smart and well-represented.

She’s a very grounded, down to earth princess, who, like her father, doesn’t appear to suffer fools gladly. She declined titles for her children, however, many years ago a friend spent time with her through the riding fraternity. A group of young women doing horsey things together, she was inadvertently referred to as Anne. She was not amused and remarked ‘ Princess’ Anne to you! That was them told 🤦‍♀️. I think she’s mellowed over the intervening years and is certainly a great asset to the RF.

I agree with the last post that she has certainly improved.
She attended a school very near to the school where I attended so was seen when there were various matches. At that time she was known to be spoilt

People began to realise Anne wasn't some glamorous type like Diana or a socialite like Princess Margaret, but someone who worked hard, loved horses and didn't want the media chasing her around. As Anne became older, people realised she was a good person and attitudes to her improved.

She's my favourite Royal because she doesn't need or want to be anyone's favourite Royal... I think she works hard but has a certain disdain for the trappings of whatever Royal life is.

I’ve always admired her steadfastness and discipline, it’s been good to hear she's recovered from that odd injury a few years ago.
I imagine she has a wicked sense of humour and is a valued friend.

Royals get lumbered with their roles tbh I can't imagine a worse life but when my daughter was eventing we often saw Princess Royal at Gatcombe as she presented the prizes and Zara was often at events competing. Like most "horsey people" they seem pretty down to earth, horses don't care who you are as long as you can do the job and can cope with a bit of humiliation and both were really good riders.

Strikes me a workhorse who doesn’t suffer fools gladly but is quite probably very kind and loyal to those she trusts and appreciates. She’s a safe pair of hands who gets on with the job and I’m sure KC relies and leans on her when in need of wise advice.

She epitomises what the Monarchy is about.

Doing the boring, everyday ‘stuff’ alongside the State Banquets and Ascot.

Not a clothes horse, not trying to be a ‘Queen Of Hearts’, just getting on with the job, and doing her duty.

She will be sorely missed when she is no longer here.

She is the only member of the Royal family that I have any interest in now.

I think she's very self contained and unflappable.
I've always liked her. She presented me with my degree at The Royal Albert Hall in her very first year as Chancellor of London University.

I read recently about when she landed at some airport and a member of the welcoming party asked how her flight had been.
It was reported that she asked him if he had ever flown, when he said yes, she said ,well it was like that.
I just burst out laughing.
If true I could have totally believed it.

My favourite member of the royal family.I am no royalist but she is the best of the bunch,

Apart from Queen Elizabeth 2nd she has always been my favourite royal. She is no nonsense and extremely hard working. I liked that she decided not to accept titles for her 2 children which allows them to choose their own career path. Even her divorce was civilised. When I wrote a letter to her after the Queen's passing I had a lovely reply.
I know a few people who have met her through their work for charities and they said she was knowledgeable and so easy to talk to with a good sense of humour. They both said she stayed longer than her schedule as she seemed to want to talk to everyone she could. They were very impressed.

What impressed me was the fact that she became an Olympic standard horsewoman which must have taken a great deal of effort and dedication.

She’s always been my favourite

A relative has met her recently and said how interested in and knowledgeable she was about the behind the scenes of the ceremony she was performing. She spent most of the day there and spoke to as many people as she could. Everyone was impressed. Mid 70s and certainly not "invisible" as some of us tend to feel.

An interview she gave many years ago, can’t remember with whom, “the people wanted a princess but they got me” . And there were her sisters in law who must have irritated her. She didn’t play games with the news media so there was little interest in her.

She has always been the best of the bunch for me.

Yes, think she is the most grounded and hardworking Royal now. I never had time for her but now like her no nonsense style.
