Sewing Bee Final

I recorded all episodes of this year's Sewing Bee so could fast forward Sarah Pascoe. Sods law that the final didn't record due to a 'power failure' which didn't affect my place so odd. Anyway I was surprised to read that Caz won and not Orla. I'm now curious as to what the garments were like they made and is the general consensus that the right person won? I don't have access to BBC iPlayer

The right one won on the night. Sewing Bee is a knockout competition, you are only as good as your showing in each show. It was a very very close contest, but Orla's dress was really weird.

I agree with Monica, it was too much really. If it had been a bit more of a wearable dress but much like fashion shows it was very “ out there”. Orla should have a great career ahead as she was superb imho.

The dresses for the made to measure final had to feature a trompe l'oeil element. Can made a dress featuring a ribcage as last year she had open heart surgery. Orla's dress was a long black gown cleverly designed to be all black from the front, but with rainbow colours from the side. This picture is from Facebook.

Caz designed this dress because she has had open heart surgery. Her final garment was the best and her story behind it swung it in her favour. Very close though. Lovely series.

Cat’s daughter modelled it, which was nice.

Thanks everyone and, wow, what imagination and skills from all three. I can sleep tonight now!

I watched it on Catch up only this afternoon as I was on holiday, when it was broadcast. All good sewers this year but always thought Cas would be in the top 2. Her dress was brilliant.
