Harrigran life can seem so unfair can’t it. 😔
Hope you can enjoy the shopping.
Good morning from an overcast NE.
Did some housework yesterday and put away all the laundry. Spent hours on and off trying to arrange flu vaccination through the website, still no joy.
My cousin remains in a coma and the only news we are getting from the hospital is " we are keeping her comfortable ". I feel so sad, she has been a widow since she was fifty so no DH to hold her hand.
Today my sister and BIL are going to take me shopping.
Have a good day everyone.
Good morning all from Glasgow where it is 5°C,
Lovely quilt GM,
That is better news Karma, dental pain can be unbearable.
Yesterday' morning,s meeting with the third year medical students went very well.
They asked me to list my conditions and I only realised I had omitted some serious ones, when the GP prompted me.🤣
The students were amazed when I could rattle of dates and medications from fifty years ago.
Some experiences are so traumatic, they never leave you.
There was much laughter, when asked when I first drank alcohol.
1972 in Glasgow University Queen Margaret Union and it was a sweet Martini and lemonade. So sophisticated, or so I thought.
I was underage.😱
Normally, afterwards, I would go to TKMxx, five minutes from the surgery,
I just wasn't well enough and wanted to go home.
I was enjoying my post lunch doze in the conservatory, when DH appeared.
The lounge TV had reverted back to the rogue router and DH was flapping, because he had lost all the stored programme,
He used to hate asking for help, but now knows, who the expert is in this house. 😉 In five minutes, I had fixed it. 😄
Today, I have a hairdresser's appointment and don't really want have to engage with people or sit in pain.
My stomach has been bad during the night and I am weary of it all..
However, the next few weeks are going to be busy with medical stuff, so I need to go, as I may not get another chance.
Best wishes to all who are struggling and for those on holiday, enjoy.
Merlotgran, I live not far from Denmans! I like it but traffic noise can be an issue. I prefer West Dean where you can find some peace
it’s sunny here, you will have a lovely day I’m sure!
Good morning from Sussex. Sunny and dry, have anxiety after an illness and going for a walk into my home town, hoping it will help me feel better. Happy Wednesday to everyone reading!
Good morning everyone from the south coast where the cloudless blue sky is just what I was hoping for as I’m meeting my sis-in-law at Denmans garden near Arundel later this morning. It’s an hours drive for both of us so convenient for meeting up for lunch and a catch up. I’ve only seen her once in the seven months since my brother died as I didn’t like to leave Peggy for too long but now I hope to see more of her. We share a passion for gardening so we’ll enjoy Denmans. It’s one of my favourites.
Only three of us were available for the allotment yesterday. We didn’t do much work but sat in the glorious warm sunshine gossiping and drinking coffee. 😎
Hope everyone has the best possible day.
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Heating back on!
Yarn group this morning and community lunch.
I began a 12 week physio run exercise class at the gym yesterday. I was in trouble for chatting..... she said they were the wrong muscles
Yesterday new plans arrived for my proposed house build which may pass Planning regs. Whether or not I like them doesn't seem to feature.
The new term began last night for Gaelic with some fun prospects. We have to learn a song and prepare a short presentation.
Poor you Grandmabatty 😢 I hate it when I can't sleep.
I'm glad your mouth has recovered
Karmalady and kitty is on the mend.
Beautiful quilt gMattie. Lucky baby!
Are you going to Sicily? Stilllearning. How exciting. Somewhere I've never been.
Hoping everyone has some joy today.
Morning Mick, morning All Cloudy just now, sunshine forecast
Enjoyed time with friends yesterday, a delicious lunch was involved. We must have looked a sight, for differing reasons three of us hobbling around while the fourth strode on and ignored us. We’ll next see each other in November for a pre Christmas get together, lots of telephone chats in between.
As we’re considering different furniture this morning will be spent with a tape measure and a lot of muttering. As our not so great minds rarely think alike about these things the temperature could rise!
Have the best day you can everyone.
Good morning from Cambridgeshire where it is 9 degrees rising to 17 later.
I am off to meet one of my oldest friends a friendship of over 50 years. We regularly meet once a month now and always lots to talk about about. It is my turn to travel to her so will need to get myself organised.
Lovely quilt GM
Pleased the pain is subsiding Karma hope you have turned the corner now.
Greyduster I feel your frustration when you have waited so long. My bil is a painter and decorator and is always so busy. Mind you I have been awaiting months for DH to start decorating our bedroom, I think I may now have a date for him to begin😂
Wishing everyone a very good day.
Good morning from a chilly W Kent.
gM beautiful quilt.
After the cancellation of my newly made hospital appointment I have decided I am probably going to have to sort myself out again. I shall start with the lovely chap who sorts our feet out every so often. I guess we slip into a different category after 75
We enjoyed our afternoon with old friends yesterday and and today I am seeing a friend for a catch up., we shall be sympathising with each other as she has similar walking problems.
Best wishes to all
Morning from a sunny S Hants, bedding about to be washed, it should dry well, we’re off to the seaside later. I’ll be showing MrJ where my paternal Granny lived, right on the beach where I spent many happy days as a child.
Chicken and sweet potato curry from the slow cooker tonight.
🦩🦩
Karma I know what you mean. There are some who post here who are in constant pain and who gets on with life as best they can.
Good morning from sunny N Bucks but cool as Ginny says - but promising to be a glorious Autumn day. I (whisper) finally succumbed last night and set the thermostat to about 17 - and the heating has kicked in! Decadent or what
I went to see “Inter Alia” yesterday at MK Gallery cinema. It might as well have been a Silver Screen showing - but wasn’t at £20- the average age had to be over 70! Powerful play and reminded me vividly of an incident at a party D went to about 30 years ago involving two friends, a boy and a girl, in their group. Although it never came to court it was traumatic even for the wider group. No social media in those days and, I am perhaps ashamed to admit, different attitudes
Oh dear Ginny there is little as seductive as the smell and taste of warm, freshly baked bread just crying out to be eaten! Irresistible and death to the diet - nom, nom!
The Winter/Summer clothes changeover is finished and took me two days
Rediscovered some things I love and made up two huge charity bags of things I will probably never fit into again.
Lovely to read your news but sad for those of you who are struggling- bon courage
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 6° and sunny. Susan I hope the injections aren't too painful. GrandMattie the quilt is lovely. Madeleine listening to music in the morning starts the day off well. I'm listening to The Four Seasons and Winter is playing at the moment as I look at the residual frost on my car! Kitty I hope you can get a sleep today. Greyduster that's extremely annoying for you.
Yesterday was a very quiet day. After I dropped off the boys, I lay down as I felt extremely tired. My day turned into a lazy one and I felt out of sorts all day. Dd had given me homemade red pepper and tomato soup which was delicious. I hope she makes it again.
Last night was a bad one and I saw every hour. Paracetamol didn't work and I finally resorted to cocodamol at four o'clock and have had three and a half hours sleep.
Today I will try to get to the school library for an hour despite the nerve pain in my feet and legs and the hip pain too. What an old grouch I am! I'm picking up the boys later because their other gran is going to hospital for a procedure and will be out of commission for a while. Baubles the early childcare is fine in the summer, but now the cold and darker mornings are here, it's more of a bind!
I have rubbish to put in the driveway ready for the council to pick it up tomorrow, so that will be today's task. Dinner will be something from the freezer. Have a good day all
Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny but cool Carlisle. 5°C at the mo.
It will probably be like yesterday when I got out in the garden to find the sun very warm on my back. I installed my final raised bed, it's quite hard work getting it into the heavy, clayey soil. Then I filled it and spread more bark mulch around. I'm wondering if the mulch encourages the proliferation of slugs and snails. What I need are hungry birds scratting around in it but we are a bird desert here, worse since a neighbouring cat chased off the blackbirds which had been nesting nearby for the last 3 years.
Today, more sorting out of clothes and general tidying up. There seems to be very little that I want to get rid of. I'm reluctant to pass items on to the charity shops if I suspect they won't be able to sell them and will finally bin them.
Really lovely quilt grandMattie, you have an excellent eye for combining colour and pattern.
Wishing you all a pleasant day!
Thank you for your best wishes re the tooth and jaw pain, if anything it has made me much more aware of the pain that several on here go through on a 24/7 basis. Such stoic people who get on with life. I do think of you constantly but never really appreciated how incapacitating pain can be. There are 2 at my craft group too. Life is full of lessons and I have learnt a little more, to add to my empathy. Certainly it did not kill me and has made me stronger.
We stand together as a group, thanks to Mick, through thick and thin
A quick good morning from Buxton after a gloriously sunny and warm day yesterday. We had a stopover on the way here in Newark and found the area around the enormous parish church, shrouded in scaffolding and closed til at least December, fascinating.
Off to Matlock and Eyam today and I’m hoping for as lovely a day today as yesterday! Te hotel, where we stayed with the children in 1993 is now part of a chain sadly and any changes have been bad,ly and probably cheaply done. The revolving doors at the entrance remain though which the children loved,
Hope all have the best day possible.
Good morning all.
How annoying for you Greyduster so thoughtless.
That’s a sweet quilt GM. They will love it.
Hair appointment this morning and then on to meet my two db’s, one sil, one nephew with new girlfriend, who are over from Germany and one pooch. We are going to our usual Friday place for lunch. It’s a lovely pub/restaurant which you can always rely on for good service, delicious food and relaxed atmosphere. It’s DH’s favourite.
Friend who did our LPOA has just messaged to say it’s all complete. What a wonderful lady and friend.
That’s another thing ticked off the never ending list.
Take care all and enjoy the day as best you can.
I wouldn’t mind, but I booked him back in March, and September was the soonest he could fit me in (or not, it seems!).
Good morning Mick and all from a brightening South Bucks.
Hope you begin to feel better soon Kitty. You may need an afternoon nap, a good book and a Take Away evening meal. 💐
Good morning from a dry cool N. Bucks
Yesterday DH bought a bread maker. We don’t eat a lot of bread but when we do we find it so bland. He made a small wholemeal loaf and it was delicious.
Not much in the diary for today so after a quick tidy round and a walk I shall indulge myself in a day of finishing off a few craft projects.
WI committee meeting this evening.
Wishing you all a good day with a smile along the way.
Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s cloudy and a slightly less cold 10 degrees at the moment. A fine day is forecast. I didn’t wake up unto 6.45, but as I didn’t go to sleep until nearly 1.00 I’m still a bit short on sleep.
Managed some gardening yesterday, a bit of weeding and then planted a witch hazel in the garden, it had been in a pot for months waiting for the soil to become damp enough for me to dig.
Nothing planned for today, ironing to do and a telephone meeting regarding my godmother, to discuss how much help she will accept from carers. It could be a difficult call.
karma a relief for you that your mouth is finally becoming less painful and hoping that the recovery continues quickly now.
greyduster that is so frustrating for you, I hope you can get outside again today to get away from the clutter indoors!
Have the best day possible everyone, thoughts as ever to those in pain, physical or mental!
Good morning Mick and all GN's on a grey still morning in North Yorkshire. It has taken me so long to get up and dressed, I feel exhausted from the effort!! I got a load of washing done yesterday afternoon and planned to be out at first light to get it on the washing lines. However it is sitting here waiting for me to be able to walk down there.!
I still have not found the key to the yellow peril and it is now becoming imperative I get it sorted, so will have to get out the manual and contact the makers, and as I bought it second hand there will be no doubt much faffing about proving it is mine etc. I have been leaving it , in the hope that the sorting and tidying up would miraculously find it. Ah well not doing it today, I have the programme for that sorted already!! Basically, when I can walk, washing out, some ironing done, as I can sit down to that and then this afternoon, will go with great relief to the disabled swimming session, and hope to loosen up a bit. all the usual aches and pains are defininetly having a competition to see who can cause the most problem for me at the moment. They have also decided to add a very painful shoulder to the collection, which is hard to deal with, as I have not worked out compensatory ways of moving. Thank goodness for the swimming pool. Ah well just another crappy morning to add to many others!!
I did have a happy time visiting my friend. The weather was quite nice, and you could see the beginnnings of the autumn colours coming out. There is a layby on top of quite a big hill that gives you a lovely look out over the countryside and I usually stop there , just for the pleasure of the view and get a breath of fresh air. Then it was a bit of a rush to get home in time to have something to eat and do a couple of jobs before going to the games night.
They had a new - to me - game to try, and it did leave my brain rather reeling and somewhat frustrated, They had played it before and of course understood all the rules, so could spare the time to see what other players were trying to do and block them etc., but I was struggling hard to even work out what each thing could do . Each different "character" had its own rules. So for example say purple only gets any points if it is totally surrounded by other pieces, whereas orange only gets points if it is on the edge etc, So it is like juggling balls in the air as you not only have to make towards your chosen goal but remember what they all do, and what your next move will do to the pattern. Somewhat weary and feeling more rubbish at the game as I went on, but the others were encouraging and said I had done a good score for a first attempt. We then thankfully played another game that I had at least done once before, so not so taxing on the brain and made a reasonable fist at it, at which point I bowed out gracefully and left them to play a much more complicated game. Sometimes I just watch them play a difficult game to get some idea of how it works, but last night I had had enough and was glad to say goodnight and go home, sort the washing out and watch a little tv and go to bed.
Today I shall stay down in Thirsk after the swimming, probably do a little shopping at the big Tesco and have a sandwich and coffee at cafe nero and then be one of the first to arrive at the whist drive. I am glad it is this way round, so that the frustrations and struggles with new games are on tuesday, and then Whist is wednesday, where I am a competent and reasonably good player. So that lifts my spirits up , to think I am not such a dunce, and it is always pleasant whether I win or lose as they are a very nice crowd of people and I enjoy the banter and also see what else is going on at the village hall etc. A soothing and relaxing evening. Well that is life isnt it / We are sometimes the teachers and sometimes the learners, and I think the variety does keep our brains in working order (I hope!)
Hope all goes well with your check up today Mick and you have an easy journey.Baubles , you have an early start and your family is lucky to have you nearby. Just how life went , but I was never living near my family when my son was young. I remember a lady at the playgroup in england mournfully saying to me that she was moving and would be two buses away from her mother and didnt know how she would cope. Then she said I hear you are moving too. Where are you going to ? j simply replied Damascus, and she just gasped and said Oh . !Karmalady, so glad you are having a bit of a respite from the pain. At least, if it begins to hurt again you will know that it can feel a bit better. It really takes it out of you doesnt it, with constant pain. Somehow you have to use part of your energy to live with it and keep going.t is good that you have a friend coming, as you then wont be tempted to do more than you need today and have a rest. It can also be distracting from the pain to have someone there with you. Hope it all continues to improve day by day. Greyduster how infuriating for you, when you have worked hard to get it ready to be done. I hate that situation when you cant do anything about it yourself , but are at the mercy of others. My two answers to that are , when making the bed, give the pillows a good punch or two, or do the same to the cushions. It relieves the feelings and gets rid of some of the pent up annoyance. Then out come my trusty good secateurs and I go round the borders chopping and snipping in a very vicious way!! The borders look a bit better and I feel pleased with the effort besides relieving my fury and annoyance. Hope that the writers group cheers you up this afternoon. Susan56, hope all goes well at the doctors and you enjoy your day with DGD
Well I have heard my Bach before 7, and just heard a lovely Monteverdi piece which I like but cant remember the name of. The 2 pigeons are wandering about on the ground but no sign of the squirrels so far. Plenty of light to go to the washing lines, but think it is going to take me another cup of coffee and a bit of stretching around and getting my swimming bag ready for this afternoon, before I am ready for the expedition to the washing lines!
Have a good day everyone, hope plans work out, and pains diminish for those of us creaking around.
Good morning from a brightening northwest coast.
Music club as usual yesterday but I didn’t realise feel in the mood, despite singing four songs. Just one of those days and I think I have overpractised too, which takes the bloom (if any) off the voice. It’s difficult to know how much to do with the voice, it’s not like a piano you can bang on all day long…
I too have a decorator lined up Greyduster.🤞 He was meant to start yesterday, but rearranged for today. Add in my now elusive plumber and who knows?
So glad your tooth pain has subsided Karma and lovely quilt Grandmattie🌺
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s chilly after a clear night and a dry sunny day is forecast
Gorgeous quilt gMattie thanks for the pictures
I’m off to the gym this morning then coffee with a pal before heading home for an online volunteering session this afternoon. I might get time for a potter in the garden later too
That’s frustrating greyduster hopefully all will go well from now on
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
