Good Morning Saturday 27th September 2025

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

Yesterday was a good day. We took our daughter out for lunch and it was delicious. Then OH went off to play croquet with the U3A and I drove daughter to the interesting house where I volunteered for a few years. We popped in the shop and I bought a belated birthday card for my brother in law and a jug for me!

Daughter is going back to London around lunchtime. I think OH’s plan is to watch football and rugby. I’ll find something else to do.

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a grey, slightly windy morning, so far dry but with promise of rain this afternoon if not sooner.

I have only just got myself up and sorted. To add to the usual aches and pains am full of cold and generally feeling quite rough today. So original plans for the day abandoned. When I have got going I shall be making a list and then the yellow peril rides again!! I shall get the mac on and the bags ready and get down the market as early as possible. I will get the bread and all the fruit and veg that I need and the Yorkshire post, then the plan so far is to get home, unload and sit and look at the paper whilst listening to radio 3. Quite a special railway time especially round here today. The Darlington and Stockton was the first fee paying railway in the world and there have been lots of things happening, both at the railway museum in shildon to celebrate the 200 year anniversary, and of course the replica Rocket was out yesterday and today it will be travelling its original route. If I felt better I might have gone to look from a vantage point somewhere. There have been programmes on the local tv and interviews and it has certainly provoked interest with railway enthuisiasts from round the world . From what I saw, there were people who had travelled from Japan to be here today, and a gentleman from the usa who said he had been carried on a steam train before he could walk and was a very keen railway lover, who had booked his trip here years ago for this day. The weather does not sound as though it is going to be kind to them this afternoon, but keen visitors wont mind that and no doubt much chatting and finding out about remote places with steam trains to visit will be discussed. I think the people who have worked so hard for years towards today should feel very proud of themselves and enjoy the day. It is good to remind people what inventive and creative people have and are living in the north east.

My little share in the day will be to listen to radio 3, where I think it is Petroc Trelawny who is doing some of if and they are having a journey from inverness to london by train, with associated music to accompany them. I expect that the lovely one with the little train in the Andes will be on and hope that I am not at the market when they play that!
If the promised downfall comes this afternoon, and it says chilly, it should encourage me to at last do some ironing, but right now not feeling like doing anything, and if I dont improve later, I may give in, take some paracetamol, and go back to bed and listen to the radio. If I didnt need some basic things I could just go back now! Never mind, I may be a bit better after going outside.

GrannyIvy hope you have a successful shopping trip and enjoy meeting your sister.Hoping that everyones plans for the day work out. I must reluctantly get myself going and hope to return with all necessary shopping and the paper to cheer me up.

Good morning Mick and everyone from cloudy Carlisle where rain is forecast later.
A sunny morning yesterday turned cloudy by lunchtime. I just pottered about with little tidying and cleaning jobs, adding one or two items to my charity pile. I freegled the last of my blankets recently, some dog is getting lucky apparently. Does anyone use sheets and blankets rather than duvets these days?

I'm off to town as soon as the shops open, I'm still waiting for my final bottle of pills, they're in demand on the NHS now that they've been licensed. I'll have to walk back through M&S with my eyes closed, the new autumn sweater stock is tempting but I've already bought one I really don't need. Plus...where to put them all, I'm having to stamp down my sweater drawers now.

Those homes with the verandahs are my favourite style peli but they don't seem to exist in the UK. I've seen them in Australia where I was very tempted to live but chickened out in the end.

Well, must go and make myself beautiful before I meet the public, have the best possible day everyone!

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s clear and sunny at the moment, but a bit chilly. The heating came on this morning for the first time (without my intervention) as the thermostat had gone below its set temperature. I went to the garden centre yesterday and bought a few things. I planted some daffodil bulbs in a pot with some violas, hope they’ll make a nice pop of colour in the spring.
Some ironing to do today and I need to wash the garden table (it’s glass) before covering it up for the winter. Otherwise nothing much planned. I don’t know if I’ll see family this weekend, they’re usually busy with children’s activities.

Thinking of all those with mountains to climb.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 10° and quite grey. It looks damp out. Peli such a lovely verandah. Bellasnana how nice to see your boys. Sar I'm glad S is on the mend. Poor girl.
Yesterday I worked in the school library for a while then headed home. I spent the morning doing housework. I achieved everything I wanted to do, got the washing done apart from the bedding. I nipped into dds with a book for dgs1 on Ronaldo but didn't stay as she was working for a couple of hours. I cleaned all the windows in the afternoon, even a challenging one in the kitchen which requires the steps. To my surprise, DD popped in with macaroni cheese for my dinner. She has been feeding me this week. I think both of my children are worried that I'm about to fall off the perch! Ds has invited me to breakfast on Monday in Edinburgh to a place called Dishoom.
Today I'll meet my friend for breakfast at the local garden centre. We haven't met up for a number of weeks, so much blethering will be had. Back home, I will strip the bed and wash the whites. I hope to get to Aldi for a quick shop before I go to breakfast. I know I won't want to go later. Then some pottering. I'd like to continue weeding, little and (not so) often. This weekend I'll brave the steps again to get the autumn decorations out. Have a good day all.

Good morning from a bright W Kent. A trip into the local town today to collect a picture I have had framed combined with a bit of shopping. Said goodbye to DGD2 last night and she is off to University today. Heard from DGS4 that he had found a job at a well known retail outlet, as with many others it’s was not his plan but any work at present is good and having been so ill he wants to get going.

After a busy week I’ve no plans today except to take it easy, potter in the garden if it’s dry and a bit of housework. I was awake early, that sometimes happens if I’m a bit over tired so I might even get a nap in later

Good morning from a quiet hillside in south Glos, it’s dark so I haven’t looked out yet.
I enjoyed art group yesterday morning, I did more to my drawing of clematis flowers and leaves, then a friend and I went to the Range in Bristol. I’ve never been there before and I was very glad that she was driving! No way would I have known where to go and the traffic was horrendous (perhaps that’s normal for Bristol?)
We had a good look around and a coffee before heading home, all very pleasant and civilised.
I did buy a few bits and bobs, including a beautiful cyclamen and one for my friend too.
A lovely day.
Nothing planned for today apart from the usual.

Good morning Mick and everyone from Cambridgeshire.
Yesterday was mainly spent in the Eye Clinic where scans confirmed the lesion in my left eye is still causing problems but thankfully not requiring treatment. They will keep me under review every few months. I then just felt washed out and spend the rest of the day resting. Today I plan to meet my sister and go to a shopping outlet. I need new autumn/winter clothes and shoes and we will have a lunch out together.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Still dark this morning but no planets in the eastern sky so it must be cloudy. Yesterday I went to the gym early and went straight from there to Aldi to do a small shop. No visitors this weekend so I didn’t need a lot, but bought some of their good dark chocolate to make brownies today. DD and SiL came last evening and brought fish and chips which were very welcome - I don’t eat them often so they are always a treat. I had to do some moving around of furniture flotsam and jetsam in order to get us all round the table - my house resembles a junk shop at the moment - but we sat in the conservatory afterwards where there is a little more elbow room.
I have no plans today except to bake, and start cutting back all the spent plants in my garden ready for the next green waste collection.

Good morning from Turkey. The weather here is the same each day, hot, around 30°.
I was happy to hear that S is home, full of meds but feeling better.
Unfortunately she only started her college course at the beginning of September and has already missed a week, hopefully she will be able to catch up.

Good morning from s somerset, no sun today and rain this evening

Yesterday I went on a longer cycle ride, on my 19 year old e -bike. My husband knew what he was doing when he bought this German brand, it is still whisper quiet and efficient. Deceptive weather yesterday morning and I am glad I wore several layers but the cobwebs blew away and it was good for me

I lit some candles last night, in storm lanterns by my fireplace, it was a lovely light and in a safe situation. Then I watched the last of the youtube film series of Edward vii, 13 episodes, another very enjoyable watch from the old archives.

Some more of my unused, not needed stuff, has been removed, this time from my ottoman. I need to do some work on a foot problem so have ordered a folding foot spa, which will reside in my ottoman, with room to spare. It took me 1 hour to clear that stuff and tidy what remains. I like those satisfying jobs

My plants did not arrive but I will go to the allotment this morning. I am thinking about bringing some tools back, to clean, sharpen and oil. I am going to split and plug the junctions between downpipes and water butts, I need to remove some water so that ice can expand and I will chop a green manure on one bed, cover with cardboard and leave that to decompose over winter. A slow steady start to my winter prep

Good morning from Malta where we are promised a day of thundery showers and a high of 27°C.

It rained for a short time yesterday just as I went to the hairdresser, but the sun was out again by 2pm when I emerged from a trip to the supermarket.

The boys came to see me after school which really cheered me up. They look so sweet in their uniform and had enjoyed their first day.

I was hoping to go to the air show this afternoon but will see if the weather is going to put paid to that.

This morning I shall watch the tennis from Tokyo.

Good morning from Bristol. It promises to be another sunny day. The mornings are very chilly, aren’t they?
The Spanish class was good. This year our tutor asked us what we wanted to do l. One student is very candid, asked for all sorts of things including a short dictation! She now wants to have sentences to translate into Spanish every week! Although quite happy to speak, my grammar isn’t very good; I get the imperfect and preterite muddled, for example. Ah well…
I took the rest of the day off. I labelled the mincemeat and put it away to mature, had a long nap, then spent the rest of the day catching up on various tv programmes.
I know it’s infra dig but I watched the Masterchef final. Although I liked the three finalists, I was glad when Harry won.
Today is quiet, empty.
