A bit serious, but …..

Oh and PS. I only use my iPhone which has absolutely zero search functionality so not a chance of catching up on anything!

Ahh, I seem to be a bit behind. I wasn’t aware this was previously discussed but I’m sure it must have been at some point as an ongoing forum for some years. I’m not sure what ‘aroma’ I’m missing, maybe I’ve been preoccupied and missed a lot. My childcare duties have ramped up recently and I haven’t been online so much. I do miss certain people’s posts, MissA being one. Thank you all for your comments.

Popular posters like GSM, Biglouis and others disappear and in some cases we never know if they have been susended, decided to leave or died. I suspect that some of them have re-surfaced but are reluctant to make themselevs known due to snitches and poor quality moderation.

Come off it!
Small world is one thing, coincidence another.
But identical holiday anecdotes - really?
Or somebody is passing them off as their own without attributing them.
I’m with Old Frill on this. confusedconfused

There's a very familiar aroma .....

We never did find out if BigLouis is still with us did we ?
I d also love an update on MissA if Petra is around please?

I d be happy for anyone I ve had contact with to tell you if I pop my clogs

We have had threads on this before and some grans have resurfaced to say “I’m still here, but not posting much” or “I’m still here but under another name ) or to tell us “Yes, so and so has chosen to leave” or sadly to inform us of a significant bereavement or even more sadly, a death.
If the Search function was working properly (sigh) it would be possible to find such threads but you could try Google- “missing posters- Gransnet “ and see what that turns up.

I have friends on here whom I email occasionally, and have met one lovely GNetter, but I doubt they would publicise my demise, nor would I want them to, and I imagine not many other contributers would notice I wasn’t there anymore.

Sometimes we do get answers it really depends if the person in question has made friends with anyone online and messages them

Galaxy Sat 27-Sept-25 12:47:40

Sometimes yes.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 27-Sept-25 12:44:58

I sometimes wonder about that too, but don’t have an answer.

I was wondering, people come and go, as in all walks of life, but if somebody on Gransnet is very poorly, or if a member dies we don’t have any way of knowing. I guess it’s not our business strictly speaking, but there are a few contributors I enjoyed but no longer see posts or responses from them and I wonder if they are okay. Does anybody else think about that?
