I recieved a text to say I have a message on the above app. Can I access it....no I can't. I just get a blue circle that goes round and round. Has anyone else experienced this problem.
If the powers that be can't get this app to function correctly it's worries me with the current idea of digital ID.

I have problems with a lot of the new apps. I need a new phone, but there are so many choices, I have put it off.

The NHS App never works for me either, I've spoken to two different receptionists at the surgery and a G.P. they all shrugged their shoulders so if they aren't bothered there's not a lot I can do.

My information, at present, is between the surgery and myself, and while it can be a pain at times to either go myself or ring them, it ensures that there will be no scammers getting my private information, for as long as I can ensure it.

Madeleine but how do you know what is in your medical records? There could be all sorts of stuff in there that you’re not aware of. The advantage of the app is that you can see what the GP surgery has written about you & correct it if it’s wrong.
As for ‘scammers’ what do you think they’re going to do with the information that you’re on 25mg/day of drug xxxx or whatever?
You lay yourself open to scammers every time you access any website on the internet, especially if you use wifi in public places.
The best protection is learning how to recognise them & block them as soon as they appear.

\If you have a computer you can log in to NHS on there. I don't like apps so have never tried to acquire one, but I use the NHS website to order my repeat prescriptions, and it works well.Oh, you'll need your NHS number .

According to my App I only have two rather minor health conditions. However, I have several quite serious ones including having had a heart attack! I carry a list of my heath issues and medications in my handbag at all times because, even if the App was up to date, doctors never look at it!

My only issue with the app is that you cannot update your address when you move.

You must phone or email your GP, your rheumatologist, the xray department, the MRI department, the Ultrasound department and every hospital you visit as a patient. So for me, that’s my local hospital, the prosthetic hospital and the one where my rheumatologist is based. All quite close but across county lines, so technically different places.

I thought that having one app would be for making things easier. The NHS is not the problem, it is not having a national computer system.

I asked my GD very recently if she would install the NHS app on my iPad.
She got a fair way on with it but then came the problem of identity.
I have neither Driving License nor passport.
I apparently have to go to the GP surgery and they will help.
As it is difficult for me to get there I shall have to wait until someone is off during surgery hours to take me.
If we get identity cards as is mooted I shall be ok.

I am perfectly au fait, with using internet, and reading messages etc. However, whilst I do see the point of having the information available quickly should you be involved in an accident etc. , I have no intention of giving any information into a system whose security is about as appalling as the post office. My information, at present, is between the surgery and myself, and while it can be a pain at times to either go myself or ring them, it ensures that there will be no scammers getting my private information, for as long as I can ensure it. As you have seen from above, the thought that you could end up with someone elses information on your prescription, which at the least is a major hassle for you to follow through and ensure that this information is removed and a message put on there to prove that it is incorrect, should you need to speak to insurance about it etc. That the possibility at its worse that you might receive the incorrect medication, that your information should be available to who knows who, and that you may not realize these facts until there is a problem. Heaven forbid that you could be unconscious and be given the wrong medication. No way Jose!! For the moment I make sure that my prescription is up to date, and carry a copy if I travel abroad, to be sure that if there is some medication that is not allowed in a nother country, it is clear that I am entitled to use it. If I travel with someone else, I ensure that they are aware of any relevant possibilities, and make sure that the correct numbers and emails are there for my family, should they be needed. I am darn sure that I take more care of such things, and have both lived abroad and travelled abroad and had no problems at all. Cant say the same when you look at the latest scams, the poor level of security in many areas including the government, who only seem to worry when there is a major problem.

App tells me it needs information from my Doctors Surgery which I cannot seem to get any help with! So far nothing I have tried has worked so I have given up & just use my surgery’s online form for results etc.

teepee55 Mon 29-Sept-25 14:34:56

Go into your Surgery, the office staff will sort it out

Edwardo Mon 29-Sept-25 14:24:28

Yes this happens regularly on my Samsung phone. Just click on the 3 bars at the bottom left of the screen and select close all apps. This should clear the probl em.

janeainsworth Mon 29-Sept-25 13:13:24

Worryingly, mine’s currently showing two serious health conditions that are obviously from someone else’s records and I am trying to get them removed - apparently I have to discuss this with a doctor before it can be done.
That’s awful Maggie - not only could it lead to you receiving inappropriate treatment if you were admitted to hospital in an emergency & hospital staff accessed your GP record, but if you needed travel insurance for a trip abroad it would impact that too.
I wouldn’t be just seeing the GP to get it changed, I’d be making a very pointed complaint to the practice manager as well.

I've never had a problem with the NHS app. Maybe restart your phone?

Astitchintime Mon 29-Sept-25 10:30:22

Mine is ok……the only problem I have is remembering the password 🤣

Mine has been fine. Delete and re install.

Maggiemaybe Sun 28-Sept-25 07:29:42

I’ve had problems with the app. It’s very hit and miss as to what is recorded and what isn’t, and messages don’t always show there. No doubt all down to human error rather than technical problems though. Worryingly, mine’s currently showing two serious health conditions that are obviously from someone else’s records and I am trying to get them removed - apparently I have to discuss this with a doctor before it can be done.

ERICA23....thank you for this info I will try and see if that resolves the problem. I've never had any problems in the past and use the app each month to order my repeat prescription. I'll let you know if it works.😊

Erica23 Sun 28-Sept-25 06:03:21

Hi. I’d try deleting the app and reinstalling. I have had to do this in the past.

Aldom Sat 27-Sept-25 23:17:50

Sorry you are experiencing a problem accessing the NHS App.
I've been using the app for a long time without any difficulty. I too have just booked flu and COVID boosters through the app.
Hope you soon manage to use the app.

Grannybags Sat 27-Sept-25 23:10:51

I’ve never had a problem with the app either.
Could it be your signal isn’t very strong at the moment?
