One final word - I thought the term gypsy was offensive so perhaps that is what dotpocka meant when she said xenophobia is getting worse on here.
Apparently, he's a boxer who is an Irish traveller, as distinct from Romany.
Tyson doesn't find the term Gypsy offensive.
He wears clothes with " Gypsy King " on the front.
He's an Irish traveller, he's a Romany, same thing .
What is offensive is if you call a traveller a diddicoi .
At least some of you have learnt something from my threads so not all bad .

A bunch of TV 'slebs' famous for being famous. Yawn.

Nan I took this as a light hearted thread, I know who Tyson Fury is, and the reason the engagement was interesting to some people is the age of the couple.
This is not a strange thread, and if people are not interested, why comment. If its not interesting to some posters there are lots of others to read.
I have noticed with some posters if they are not interested in the subject matter they are moaning.
My feelings exactly ! If you don't like the subject just pass by .
I didn't know who Tyson Fury was until about a couple of years ago when I came across a documentary he was doing and I found it interesting. He's a Gypsy champion boxer , I don't like boxing but I found his story about his life and that of his family very informative. I've since learnt more about other members of his family and that's how I learnt who Molly Mae was . She was on Love Island with Tyson's brother , Tommy, I don't watch Love Island either. Surprising what you can learn here and there . I'm finding GN depressing , it needs more lighthearted topics and less bitchy comments.
I was trying to be lighthearted earlier and made what I thought was not a dig but a rolling my eyes comment about the ages of the engaged couple. Exactly the sort of response I would give when chatting with friends. But I suppose things don’t translate that well on a forum.
Have had threads I started dismissed etc., it can be annoying but have had it happen to me so often that I just ignore it now. And funnily enough people come along and enjoy the thread anyway.

I was just about to text my SIL who is Venezuelan and ask her about this. Then I put my brain in,

But there are some things which are instantly forgettable 😁
Every day I learn how out of touch I am with the "influencer" generation. I've now resorted to googling Molly Mae and according to Wikipedia, she was a runner up on Love Island in 2018 so she's been around for quite a while but I had never heard of her until a few days ago.
Apologies about the BAFTA information, it was the NTAs, something else I don't watch.
This thread has been a learning experience for me, to say the least.

OP. Is it something that interests you? As you can tell there’s not much interest on here.
The same reason anyone would be interested in what the fish batter bits are called from the chip shop !
Not really.
I think most of us know what fish and chips are and the batter bits too (scraps).
Not many know the subject of this thread.
You are always free to start one!

I did. And I voted for Rob. Yours sincerely bored retiree.

It is sad. Another old fuddy duddy here. It's a different world now.
Apparently she won an NTA (National Television Award) for an authored documentary. There was a backlash afterwards as many thought that the Rob Burrow's documentary was far worthier of an award but apparently it was a public vote.
I find that sad but then, I didn't even know there was an award up for vote!
I don’t watch much tv as a rule but whilst looking after dad, flicking through mums tv I came across this documentary, or reality show, Never heard of Tyson Fury, but got quite into it. How the other half live- think he has bi-pola.

Times have changed. Hard for me to accept that an 'influencer' or whatever she is won an award rather than Rob Burrow but that's how it is now.
Yes, I find it sad.
But then perhaps I'm an old fuddy-duddy.

There is a lot of negativity on this thread. I often wonder why post on a thread to say they're not interested in it! What a waste of time. Join in on something you are interested in instead of being negative.
But the heading of the OP was confusing; posters were drawn in because they thought something had happened in Venezuela.
Still no clearer about Molly Mae. Famous for being a 'personality'?
Rob Burrow, yes, of course, I think most of us know who Rob Burrow was. An inspiration, along with his friend Kevin Sinfield who carried Rob over the finish line in the marathon, having pushed him all the way round. They raised over £15 million for MND charities. Heroes, both of them.
Nanna3. I apologise. You are perfectly entitled to post whatever you want (within guidelines). Just because some of us have never heard of these people doesn't mean you shouldn't post something which is of interest to you.

Whispers very quietly -
Who is Molly Mae?
Molly Mae recently won a BAFTA for a documentary about her life, I think it was on BBC3. She got quite a bit of stick for this as everyone thought the Rob Burrow story would have won. She now advertises washing powder.
I'm trying to keep up with the yoof of today

Nanna3 of course I ve heard of Tyson Fury but I don’t know his children or grandchildren I just thought it seemed odd but if you were doing it to be lighthearted that’s all good
As for Molly Mae she’s driving me mad with her washing powder commercials seems to be on all the time !!!
I do think unless you follow boxing most on here wouldn’t know much about him he’s not done much lately has he ? been a bit of a wild lad with a lot of mental health problems
I enjoy watching boxing

dotpocka
nan dont worry about i there a lot ofnasty people on here lately i live 7000 miles way and i know who he is i dont like boxing
xenophobia is getting worse on hereWhere are the xenophobic posts on this thread?
Thats an inflammatory remark to make where there is no evidence of xenophobia.
I think your reading into the fact that most posters aren’t interested is due to Tyson Fury being from the Irish traveller community.
Your wrong.
As most posters don't know who he is, then dotpocka's remark is pointless as well as inflammatory.
She is correct, though, that there are of nasty people on here lately because that was a particularly nasty accusation.
Pot, kettle, black.
