Harry and Meghan have been awarded, ‘Humanitarians of the Year’

Yes, it was the Project Healthy Minds’ annual gala in honor of World Mental Health Day (October 10).

They were given the Award for their “exceptional global efforts in building a safer, more equitable digital world for families and youth, and their meaningful contributions to advancing mental well-being worldwide.”
This is on the back of the Archiwell digital parenting platform... I'm afraid I don't know much more than that butvits trying to help people be better parents I think.

It is one of a few similar awards, I think.

The award was given by Project Healthy Minds.

It seems to be an American online not for profit, that basically signposts people to other charities/ not for profit/providers that offer help for mental health.

It says its help is free, but I’m think that is just the signposting element. I’m not sure all the services listed are free though. I couldn’t see that Healthy Minds offered any actual mental health support of its own.

The Archewell Foundation made a substantial donation to Project Healthy Minds. The award followed that.

So basically it’s an award from an organisation that gets funding from Archewell.

Is this the same H&M who caused so much pain to H’s family and the same M who has disowned her own elderly, father who is in poor health? The same M who has dropped any friends who are no further use to her? They are great humanitarians!

That is really good to hear, Deedaa. There are so many organisations and charities who should be awarded these accolades, and don’t benefit personally by financial gains.

I do wonder about these awards, there seem to be so many for nothing in particular. With reference to mental health in which Harry is heavily invested, there was an article a while back about "Better Up" one of Harry's associations, deemed to be a most toxic environment to work in. I often think when one or two people complain about an individual in the public eye as being not a very nice person, then it could be a clash of personalities, but when those become a tsunami of disaffected people working as a team with such individuals at the helm, Ellen de Generes, James Cordon to name but two, then I think one has to assume it's down to how they treat people. How those at the top of any hierarchy treat subordinates says a lot about them as a person imo. There are numerous complaints on both sides of the pond and beyond about these two.

And add in the complaints that do not hit the headlines, how they have trampled on other people's lives, ie the staff, seemingly regardless of the distress they cause and leave in their wake.

My nominee would be the wonderful lady who runs the Dogs On The Streets charity in London. It may sound an odd choice, but her work is as much involved with the owners as it is with the dogs. Finding shelter for the homeless, finding rehab for the addicted, constantly answering calls from Police, ambulances and hospitals because people refuse help or treatment if it means leaving their dog behind. People like her, literally saving lives, working on a shoe string are the real humanitarians.

I’d agree any day with Medecins sans Frontieres, but not any UN organisation. A dd has worked in the humanitarian sector for many years - virtually all UN staff with whatever branch of the UN are paid far more than staff in similar roles elsewhere, plus dd has often had to liaise with branches of UN orgs and has often found them very arrogant and obstructive.

From what I can see from the ceremony, the black trouser suit was a huge improvement.

Let's give these awards to the UNICEF , Doctors without Borders, UN and other leaders and staff who do the serious humanitarian work on the ground.

It’s just bought. It doesn’t mean anything except their image consultants are working hard to create positive publicity.

I don't understand the obession with these two. For people who seem to dislike them so much they certainly seem to give them shedloads of attention...
