Good morning all from a rather dull Lancashire. MrB and I have been out early this morning as it’s the West Coast Half Marathon today. It takes in our favourite walk, so we wanted to be out of the way before the runners set off.
Wishing you all a peaceful Sunday 🌹

Good Morning from a mild dull Co Armagh
I put too much in the washing machine and it didn’t spin ! I’ve unloaded half of the wash and got the remainder out on the line , the second lot is now spinning, that will teach me not to overload the washer !
Wishing a good day to all

Good morning from a cloudy West Sussex. I’ve awarded myself a quiet morning after a lovely, but definitely not quiet, day yesterday when the two southern DDs, two youngest DGDs and son-in-law (who was nursing a hangover after celebrating Octoberfest the day before!), came to wish me a happy birthday. Mid week I was in Bath catching up with old university friends.

Today I will be tidying up here and making ready to go to Scotland for two weeks to see the Scottish branch of the family - DD2, DSiL and twin DGSs who are, unbelievably (to me), both over 6ft tall and in their last year of school. They will be away on a sailing course during the half-term week but we may catch a glimpse of them at some stage 😂.

Lovely to see the photo of Grandmattie and Bellasnana in Malta.

Thoughts with Marydoll and others who are struggling with health challenges.

Hope all is ok with Ekwanimitee

Good morning from a dull northwest coast.
Last night to a local production which was rather boring and not helped by loud braying in odd places from an acquaintance sitting behind me. It wasn’t a comedy either. However I had a drink with him in the interval and he’s a good chap. He invited me to the last night get together but I’d had enough.

Coming out of the theatre, a woman stopped me and said “Are you going to the station?”, which was round the corner. I said no as I was popping into the late night store for some milk. She didn’t want to walk round on her own. It was only about ten. “You’ll be fine” I said. I don’t understand this terror of the night in this small town.

More note bashing today and picking windfall apples.
Lovely photos GM and thoughts to all🌺

I haven’t hosted Christmas for the family since the granddaughters were born and cars weren’t big enough to bring all the presents over to our house! I probably couldn’t cope with cooking Christmas dinner now anyway, I usually go to DD1s and do as I’m told (in a nice way!).

luluaugust Sun 12-Oct-25 09:42:02

Could I join the beach walk it looks beautiful

Grannydaisy1 Sun 12-Oct-25 09:36:56

Lovely photos from Malta and love the bag Grandmattie you are very talented. FGT I would be with you on that beach. It looks so peaceful

Grandmabatty Sun 12-Oct-25 09:18:29

I haven't cooked Christmas dinner for a number of years now. Dd took it over and maintains the family traditional menu with some new ones.

luluaugust Sun 12-Oct-25 09:10:16

Marydoll I know the feelings about not cooking Christmas dinner anymore. We are now cooked for by either DD2 or DS and DIL. I am afraid the family recipes have disappeared and they do their own thing, which is now fine by me. DIL cooks a French version. Each year is interesting!!

Good morning everyone from a very foggy Northampton shall have a day in I think. I have two sore arms, having had my Covid and flu jabs yesterday. I was joined at the bus stop by a friend whose appointment was the same time as mine. The poor lady has just got her DH into hospital - he has dementia which is worsening rapidly, keeps falling over, now has a UTI, and is becoming difficult to deal with. She is finding it difficult to cope, and has made the hard decision to find a care home.for him. She just wanted to talk to someone yesterday; her family live in Berlin and she sadly has no other family nearby to help.

An afternoon well spent at the rugby where I watched my team Northampton Saints win the East Midlands derby against Leicester Tigers. Went home a happy bunny!

Bacon butty for breakfast, then perhaps make some flapjacks, and then catch up with the weekend newspapers.

Lovely pictures from Malta!

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Love that beach photo Liberty in the late autumn sun. I could just sit there quietly on my own, looking out at the sea with a coffee and only the gulls for company.

Good morning from a grey but dry NE.
DS and GD visited yesterday afternoon after GD had spent the morning working in the charity shop.
Before dinner she did her homework and after played the piano.
Today GD is out on a hike as part of her D of E award.
Had a message from DD to say that she was coming to the UK in a few days, she is in between jobs and wants to spend some time with family.
I am going to have a lazy day, watch TV and read.
Lovely photos grandMattie, have a good holiday.
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from a misty Suffolk , a continuation of the weather yesterday it seems.

We have a quiet day today after seeing DS and family yesterday. DGD1 wishes home from university for the weekend mainly as she had a hair appt! She went back early in Sept as she was offered some work at her p/t job there and the student house she is sharing with 3 others was available.
Photo is of the beach where we had our dog walk on Friday.
I hope today is a good one for all.

Marydoll Sun 12-Oct-25 08:34:08

Good morning all from A cloudy Glasgow, where it is 10°C,

What a lovely photo of GM and Bellasnana. By any xhance is the restaurant, what we called the Green Umbrellas where the umbrellas are not green.
Enjoy the rest of your trip, GM.

I didn't have a very good day yesterday, my pain levels were so high, I feel this flare up will never settle.
It was partly my own fault, that I felt so unwell. I cannot accept that I am no longer able to go at my usual frenetic pace,
Instead of coming straight home from the Doctor's on Friday, I decided to pop in to B&M and TKMaxx on the way home. They are not actually on my way home,

To my delight, I bumped into a former high school colleague, whom I hadn't seen for years, what a boost it gave me, Many years ago, it became a standing joke, that every Saturday, I would bump into her in Debenham. Two shopaholics. It has been years since I've seen her.
However, I had to phone DH, who was panicking, because I hadnt returned home,

Later I went to get prescriptions dispensed and spent ages in the chemist, due to a mix up with the controlled drugs. The surgery had messed up again,
All I wanted to do was get home,
It wasn't to be, on the way back to my car, I kept bumping into parishioners, who were concerned about my absence.
DH was not very happy, when he realised, how unwell I looked, when I returned.
He doesn't get how lonely it is for me, being inarcerated, for he is a man of few words and I am a sociable animal. 🤫
The crux of the matter is, that I just want my life back, but it won't be happening. Adjustments are required.

For over forty years, I have always made Christmas Dinner, but DD has ordered advised me to step down from my duties, ♥️
Yesterday, she decided to do a trial run of making the turkey. I was demented.
The landline rang quite early in the morning, but the kitchen phone was nowhere to be found. DH was last to use it, although he denied all responsibility. It was eventually found upstairs it walked up 😉 and apparently, it was my fault, because I had phoned him on the landline!!!
I recognised the phone number, as DD's. This was the format for the rest of the day: landline ( if I didn't answer my mobile quickly enough) mobile. Including video calls, where I had to examine the stuffing, (my great grandmother's recipe), photos to allow me to comment on whether it was properly cooked.
She has decided that she will be down first thing this morning , so that I can make the gravy, to my liking Bang goes my day of rest!
He greatest worry was giving me food poisoning and killing me, due to my immunosuppression. ♥️ She said her hands were raw from over washing them!
Thus is a referral to Last Boxing Day, when I was very unwell, with Norovirus, DD says it was the fault of DS2, who had invited us to dinner and poisoned us all^, She keeps bringing it up.🤣
DD has struggled with dyslexia and dyspraxia all her life and I am so proud of her and how she manages her conditions.

Babydoll and her parents are planning to visit today, I have missed her so much, but presently, I am physically unable to look after her.

No church for me again, I cannot summon the energy to dress, let alone drive. The minute, I appear, I know I will be inundated with problems, so on the P.P's advice, I am laying low.

Safe journey to Ash, *OldD^ and anyone else travelling.

Best wishes to all, especially my fellow mountaineers. 💐
Have a pleasant Sunday.

It’s a misty, moisty, morning here in South Lanarkshire. I think it will be a fine day.

It will be a fairly quiet one, I’ll go to Mass as usual then a quick supermarket sweep will be required before DH and I take both dogs out walking.

Safe trip Ash.

Lovely photo of Bella and GM.

You’re very talented Karma, and patient too.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Georgesgran Sun 12-Oct-25 08:23:45

Good Morning from a very still Durhsm. A fine, but cooler day is forecast.
My friend is 70 today and having a long weekend with her sons in North Yorkshire. I’m going down to join them for a late lunch and I’ll stay over with her tonight, as the boys have work tomorrow, so driving home before dark today.
I’m not sure my back is any better - a sense of improvement first thing, but as soon as I get going, I realise it’s the same, made more frustrating, as my Achilles Tendonitis has finally gone.
Lovely pics Bellas and gM.
Safe journey to the travellers.

Thinking of those who are unwell and those caring for them.

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning from a grey Essex coast.
We are going to watch the boys play rugby this morning, the first game of the season. Will probably go to the club afterwards for a drink.
Enjoy the rest of your time in Malta GM, a lovely picture of you with Bellasnana .
Safe travels to Ash and OD.
Have a good Sunday everyone, best wishes to all xx

Good morning from a grey W Kent. A busy day yesterday followed by a quiet day today, nothing really planned apart from some baking and a short walk.
Redcar I hope your back eases up.
Lovely photos this morning
Best wishes

Good morning all and I think I was chilly in the night. I did wake early and eventually got up , let the pooch out and made a cuppa. We’re both snuggled on the sofa now with me reading Gransnet good morning posts.

I must get on as we have family coming for lunch. I’m not sure how many will be here as the teens have other (better) things to do. 😂. How life changes from when they were so excited to come here. That’s ok though and I’m happy they’re happy! ♥️.

Safe journey Ash and oldudders.
Lovely photo Bellasnanna and GM. Not how I imagined you to look but both looking great.

Take care all and enjoy your Sunday.🌻

RosesandLilac Sun 12-Oct-25 07:54:28

Good morning from cloudy south Glos, a dry day forecast so I will bet the dogs’ beds washed and on the line.
Enjoy Dyrham GrannyIvy, we live only a few miles away and I visit often.
Lovely photos grandMattie and Bellasnana!
My back is easing thank goodness, I really am an impatient so and so when I’m unwell 😵‍💫
Nothing planned for today, a gentle dog walk first I think.
Wishing you all a good day 🌹

kittylester Sun 12-Oct-25 07:52:02

Good morning all. North Leicestershire is chilly and foggy.

We were going to watch Wolfie play football this morning but have opted out in favour of keeping warm.

I am feeling better day by day and yesterday even drove to Tesco and the egg farm by myself. I live an exciting life.

Grandmabatty Sun 12-Oct-25 07:50:33

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 9° and misty. It's a proper autumn season here, cool mornings with mist breaking to sunshine. Ashcombe safe journey tomorrow to France. GrandMattie and Bellasnana lovely photos of you both. Redcar I hope your back eases off soon.
Yesterday I was at Aldi just after eight. The fence men arrived just as I left, but didn't want rolls on sausages. When I returned they had cracked on with the job and the whole thing was finished by eleven they tidied up behind them too. I stripped the bed and got all the washing done. I cleaned the bathroom and the kitchen and polished. Then I pottered about the house.
Today I'm determined to sort out the dining room. I have a small ironing to do too. Dinner will be out of the freezer. I plan to make ratatouille and lentil soup as well. Have a good day all.
