Good morning all from a cloudy south coast where sun is promised for later.
Covid jab this morning then my food shop. This afternoon Vodafone have promised to phone me back and hopefully solve my broadband issues. It took an hour to get through to them yesterday! I cannot get my router to work following the outage and they don’t seem to want to get their act into gear. I’m running out of patience now.
Hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning all and it’s cloudy here in Essex. Same as the rest of the country it seems. It’s so still out there, not a breath of wind.

Today Dh has a hairdressers appointment for a tidy up and we expect the gas engineer this afternoon to give us a quote .
I haven’t been to Bowls for some weeks now as things have cropped up but hopefully will be back by November. Since DH’s stroke, routine has changed but fingers crossed life will improve

I hope you all have a ‘good’ day. 🌻.

Good morning from another dull day in Suffolk. How cheery some sun would be but I doubt there will be any today.

I have my stretch class soon and then I’m meeting a dear friend for coffee which usually extends into lunch. We haven’t seen each other for more than 3 weeks now and so we’ll have a lot to catch up with. We always enjoy lots of laughs so I always look forward to an entertaining time with her.

I’ve enjoyed hearing all about Malta as it is at least 10 years since we visited. Lovely reminders about lovely places there.

Hope all have the best day possible whatever your circumstances.

Good morning from a cloudy East Midlands. Dog walking today but apart from that nothing much.

Wishing everyone a good day.

Grandmabatty Thu 16-Oct-25 08:06:52

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 5° and very grey. Hopefully it'll lift, like it did yesterday. GrandMattie glad to hear that you are home safe. Marydoll enjoy your day with Babydoll. Peli I love the decorations!
Yesterday I had a lovely catch up with my pal and we blethered for a couple of hours. Back home, I felt unaccountably tired and retreated to bed where I slept for a couple of hours.
I was up a couple of times in the night, but slept well and I'm not long up. Today will be a morning potter then art class in the afternoon. Have a good day all.

Good Morning from a still, overcast Durham. Coffee/lunch with my poorly friend today, she still is very underweight, but serious illness has been ruled out. Her RA is progressively worse and she’s suffering from the side effects of her long term post cancer meds.

Later, I might wield the duster, but feel I need to take advantage of the fading light, while I’m able. I’m not a winter fan.

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning from Shropshire.Another dull start but sunshine promised later which will warm the conservatory nicely.

I too am hankering after a return trip to Malta,

DGD was unwell yesterday and so missed dance but luckily DD was well enough to attend her hospital appointment. We had set off to take them but had a call to say SIL had come home from work early so a relaxing evening instead of chauffeur duties.

Today DH has physio so I will drop him off and then park in a nearby car park until summoned to collect him.Parking at the hospital is impossible mid morning. This afternoon we will start preparing the kitchen for decorating😬

No wonder you are tired Ash with all the driving but brilliant you can do it after how unwell you were👏🏼Definitely a few restful days for you.

Wishing everyone the best day they can manage🦩🌻

Morning from a groundhog grey, cloudy S Hants. One in - happy holiday ginny and one out - welcome home gMattie, with Bellas holding the Maltese fort.
Great picture peli thanks.
Tesco delivery this morning, once that’s put away it’ll be upstairs cleaning, I’m keeping tomorrow clear, dentist at 9 for an extraction.

Good morning from cool and dry South Lanarkshire.

Fabulous Peli. A few years ago we had an October holiday in Florida with DD and her family. We were all entranced by the beautiful Halloween decorations which were a feature of most of the houses.

I spent a chunk of time and money in the dentist’s surgery yesterday. Hopefully now my very poor teeth will last another while without needing any more work.

Indeed it is Bellasnana. ❤️

I’ve a baby gift to drop off to DH’s brother for their first GGC, a happy event in the family.

Thinking about those with difficulties to overcome.

Good morning from a grey W Kent where once again I have a morning of painting. I should be Michelangelo by now but unfortunately not. I am sure there will be lots of chat. DH has suggested a bit of lunch out.
It occurred to me that half term no longer has any meaning in our house, youngest DGS is now a grown up 14 and very busy with sport and friends. Hoping to see DD2 at some point.
Best wishes to all

Good morning from s somerset, dismal and dry today

My trip to Wells went well yesterday but the `farmers` market was a complete disappointment, nothing at all like it used to be, only one fruit and veg stall. Some fish, sausages, spices and cheeses but that was it, the other stalls were tat

I now have my pass for the cathedral, bishops palace, grounds and the lovely events, talks, walks etc. It was too cold to hang around yesterday, so I came home. There was a massive diversion and it added many miles to my journey. The bus would have taken much longer

I popped in to waitrose and came out with a small box of oat biscuits and 2 small avocados. Nothing is going to change here with my shopping, which will continue to be local or online organic, it is much better for choice and quality

My room is still warm, I lit my stove when I got back, it needs only a small amount of fuel to keep the house at a comfortable temperature. However my boiler repair will be done today and I am glad of that. I will clear everything out of the way and empty the manifold/stop cock cupboard, he will have a lovely cup of coffee when he arrives and then I will bu**er off to my living room while he gets on with the job

Have a good day

Good morning from exhausted of Essex 😴😴😴

We had a fabulous day yesterday, my dear friend was once again flabbergasted when by the time we exited Fenchurch St station we had been joined by her two other oldest and best friends.

We had a wonderful day, starting with fizz at The Sky Garden, the views was somewhat limited by the clouds, it we w joules ourselves. We then went to a seafood restaurant on just off of the Southbank, the clouds cleared and we had a delightful view of London at night. (What a waste with all the buildings lit up, and nobody in sight working in them, still lit up at nearly midnight)

Today another friend is having a 70th birthday lunch, this will be more sedate, phew….

I am now hankering after a return trip to Malta…

brook2704 Thu 16-Oct-25 07:25:38

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s just getting light and it looks a bit cloudy. We had lovely sunshine yesterday so hoping for a bit more today
I’ve a volunteering day ahead, I’m going into the centre this morning and then back home for an online session this afternoon
I must put Malta on my travel list Bellas it sounds so very interesting!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Marydoll Thu 16-Oct-25 07:17:04

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 7°C,

Another bad night coughing, has left me exhausted.
However, I need to give myself a shake and get a move on, before Babydoll arrives,
Bellasnanna, your comment about a sleeping grandchild resonated with me. 😍

Yesterday, we did a bit of a garage clear out, ending with DH going to the tip. It has made little impact as far as I can see. It is a work in progress,
We hoped to find Dollie's old cycle helmet, because Papa won't let Babydoll play on the scooter, until we find it. Unfortunately, it was nowhere to be found, Apparently, Papa said No and Babydoll now won't speak to him. I will buy one tomorrow,
On a positive note, we have enough toilet rolls to last for years and sufficient pairs of secateurs to last me, until I go to the garden in the sky!!🤣
Items from DD's Covid garden wedding were also discovered, buried under long forgotten tools etc.
They belong to DIL, who decorated the garden, I am palming them off returning them to her today.😉

First thing I will run over to the surgery and leave Babydoll with DH. He cannot cope with the traffic congestion and parking and I cannot cope with his not coping!!! 😉

We will then have a wander along the main street to pick up yet more medications and investigate the new shop, which apparently sells everything!! I need some items for church.
The plan was to go to the Sports Centre and soft play for coffee, but it is mid term, so it will be too busy.
Frankly, I am relieved, I have no energy, nor inclination. My stomach problems continue,

I'm so envious of your trip Ginny, have a great day.
Peli, Dollie would be in seventh heaven, if she lived in your neighbourhood! 🎃👻

Have a pleasant day folks and as always hugs for the mountaineers. 💗

Bellasnana Thu 16-Oct-25 07:14:54

Pantglas you make me sound like the Pope!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Would love to see you on your next visit.🤗

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, where it’s getting light. It’s dry and cloudy again. We did see the sun briefly yesterday, good to know it’s still there!
I went for a short walk yesterday, but my usual dog walking friends weren’t around. Also cleaned the garden table and covered it for the winter. Arranged for the tree surgeon to give my silver birch tree a trim, another task ticked off the list.
I’m dog minding today at DD1’s, I think we’ll be confined to two rooms as she has builders in, altering one of the bedrooms.

Good to hear about interesting holidays being enjoyed by some Gransnetters.
Thoughts to those who are struggling with issues of any kind.
Have as good a day as is possible everyone.

Grammaretto Thu 16-Oct-25 06:54:46

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders .
I had a lovely but tiring day. I hosted a U3A family history group to talk about my historic house and the family who lived here from the early 1800s. We didn't run out of conversation!
After community lunch I collected my DGD who are staying with their other GP for the half-term holidays and they made pottery. I hope to have them again on Saturday.

I'm glad you enjoyed Sicily Stilllearning and that your health scare was just that. I have tickets for the Seagull for Saturday. smile

Today yoga and U3A . I also have some reports to write and calls to make.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Greyduster Thu 16-Oct-25 06:36:46

Good morning Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is still dark and nine degrees.
Yesterday afternoon was taken up with a talk to our writers group by three published authors. They talked about what and how they wrote but mainly about the process of getting work published and how that has changed now, so that it’s now more marketing led than publisher led and there’s not a lot of money in it these days unless your name is out there. Fortunately, although they say there is a book in all of us, it’s not a problem I shall ever have to worry about!
Today the plumber is coming early and then, although it will be too late for walking group, I’ll go and have my usual lunch with DD. I so look forward to the couple of hours we have together during the week.
Have the best day you can, folks.

RosesandLilac Thu 16-Oct-25 06:35:47

Good morning, dry and cloudy here in south Glos too.
I made two banana loaves yesterday, one for the freezer, one with added walnuts 😋. I don’t bake much but I do like banana bread. Usual housework stuff, I really should start sorting the garden for the winter so that’s today’s plan. I will do it bit by bit, it’s a small garden but crammed with plants and full of plants that are still flowering so plenty of insects benefitting.
Online nature journal tutorial this evening, a very enjoyable couple of hours with a lovely tutor who I have met in person on a residential course.
Best wishes to everyone 🌹

Pantglas2 Thu 16-Oct-25 06:25:47

Good morning early birds, from a cooler north Wales where each morning starts off depressingly dull and grey and then 🌞 makes a matinee appearance and I end up peeling cardies and tops off!

A quiet week at PG Towers with my General Factotum tending to garden furniture ready for winter, whistling merrily with screwdriver and brush in hand - frequent tea and praise keep him happy in his work😉

Lovely to see Malta has been the holiday hotspot this year with so many GMs popping in, some managing an audience with Bellasnana too 👋 (I’m hoping for one on my return next year and to visit the museum and Gozo too)

A hair trim and trot to bingo this evening the sum of today’s excitement after a day of doing notalot - hope all with worries and health woes have a better time of things 💐 and let’s have some 🥂for all with celebrations 😋

Bellasnana Thu 16-Oct-25 06:18:14

Good morning from Malta where a rainy day is forecast with a high of 29°C. Better take your umbrella, ginny! ☔️

Went out yesterday for a bit of retail therapy and a coffee, fortunately avoiding the thunderstorm, before the boys and DD3 arrived after school.

They were full of beans and very happy with all the gifts which my dear friend brought for them. It was like Christmas came early!

DGS2 had a nap on my knee - I think having a grandchild asleep in your arms is one of life’s greatest blessings,

Today is set to be wet again and I can hear thunder already so not sure what we will get up to.

Spoke to all four of my children yesterday! DD1 was working her last day at a hospital in DC where she has worked for six years ( she is a radiographer specialising in MRI’s). She starts a new job today, nearer to her home in a small outpatient clinic which she’s hoping will be less stressful.

DD2 hasn’t found a permanent job yet as they have recently moved state, but she has been nannying for two families and called me as she does frequently. The baby she was looking after is almost six months old and absolutely gorgeous! Very smiley and seems a very happy, contented little chap. I love babies!

Glad you are safely home grandMattie and that you had such a good time. It was lovely meeting you and I have been using your little bag every day. It has been much admired so thanks again for that.

Stilllearning I’m so glad you enjoyed Sicily. Yes, the road up to Castelmola is rather hair-raising isn’t it! I have every faith in the bus drivers but can understand your sister covering her eyes as it does seem as though you’re about to go over the edge at times!😂

Sorry for the long ramble. Have a good day all.☀️

Good morning from a very dark and cold start to today from the east coast of Fife. I’m off to Tenerife November 28th - 5th January with a company called Limitless travel and I just can’t wait. That’s the heating turned up in this old cottage I must keep an eye on my bills.

Have a good day all and keep safe x

peli Thu 16-Oct-25 06:03:29

Sunny & 29c here in MS, another good "swimming at the beach" day for the tourists. I have another item to drop at the P O, & then have ☕️w/ the breakfast bird crew. Hallowe'en decorations are up now in the neighbourhood - I hope no-one minds the scary photo.
I really hope all the poorly people have a much improved day today, & feel brighter, & that everybody has a pleasant day!

ginny Thu 16-Oct-25 05:49:29

Good morning from Malta. Our journey was uneventful and in time yesterday.
Up early this morning as we have a full day trip to Gozo.
Wishing all a good day.

Ashcombe Thu 16-Oct-25 05:46:15

Good morning from a fine but still dark Nogent le Bernard.

Wall to wall sunshine is forecast today. Yesterday found me very tired and I dozed for some of the morning. Packing up followed by two half days of driving seems to take more out of me than it did when DH and I first got together in 2014. Sadly my motor insurance doesn’t cover DH to drive my car as he doesn’t have a UK address. Luckily, I do enjoy driving and he’s a supportive navigator!

I hope grandMattie arrived home safely and those facing health issues have a better day. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩
