I object to autocorrect thinking it knows better by changing what I type. You are not the boss of me, Mr Auto Correct!

They couldn’t be “little” enough for me,
As a cocktail lover anything with Campari in it is a no-no.
Autocorrect?
I have had some real laughs with some, most of which I have managed to correct before sending/posting saving my blushes.

We call it Autocarrot. A carrot would probably have a better idea of what is likely to be meant than some of the corrections imply. It used to refer to words you used often, but mine is starting to correct 'the' to 'thee' every time, as though I'm in the habit or writing prayers in text (I'm not), so I assume it now uses a generic vocabulary.

I find it very amusing !!

They are the bane ( to wit, it just changed this to babe!) of my life drive me absolutely mega ballistic, but it proves a point, some English speaking countries (who shall remain anonymous) have simplified the language to the point where their low IQ can cope with it, English is and forever shall be, one of the most difficult languages in the world, and the idiocy of spellcheck proves my point.

A friend messaged me asking had we had a nice meal the night before ( we had gone out for my birthday) and asked where we went to eat. I told her we had been to a lovely Italian restaurant called Il Forno. Autocorrect changed it to Il Fornicate 😳. I didn’t notice and pressed send.

Going slightly off piste, try watching a YouTube tutorial given by someone with a regional accent with the sound turned off and captioning on.

I had a boss once whose name wasn’t typically of English extraction, typing the minutes of a meeting and autocorrect changed her name to Rancid Scrawny - wrong but quite appropriate as she wasn’t a particularly nice person

The one I loved was a grim 1960s school in a likewise council estate. It has been named Bushfields which was ambitious in itself, but spellchecker always changed it to beautified.

I messaged my daughter suggesting we get together for a FaceTime and it autocorrected to facelift!

I am sometimes irritated by it and at other times have quite a laugh at its useless idea of what is an appropriate word. But of course I know its grandparents!! I used to get the Guardian and as we called it the Grauniad was priceless at times with the most amusing spelling mistakes, and we also thought that in some cases a mischievous type setter had added or taken away letters especially pertaining to political articles. We would look for good mistakes to relate to other grauniad readers, so think that the more intelligent of their offspring went round the world to cause havoc in other areas, whilst the most stupid became the idiot corrector on here, with occasional flashes of inspired stupidity to make you grin!

I texted my daughter to say sorry she was poorly, but it was changed to sorry she was porky! I am glad she has a sense of humour!

I once answered the door incapable and in tears when autocorrect changed “passage of Venus” to “passage of Penis”.
Juvenile I know but my daughters and had ended up in one of those wonderful giggling loops when just when we thought we should grow up someone smirked and off we went again.

A spooky thing happened to me when my Dad passed away. I was texting someone and one of the words (can’t remember what it was) auto-corrected to ‘graveyard’😳. He was actually buried rather than being cremated.

My friend texted me to say her newly married daughter was going to become a nun!! She had typed mum.

About thirty years ago I was typing an essay and mentioned a monk called Eosterwine. No autocorrect in those days but the spellcheck decided to alter it to "housetrain". I haven't trusted spellchecks and autocorrect since!

When my husband was Bursar at a school some years ago he acquired some sort of device that allowed him to dictate e-mails.
It always changed the word ‘Headmaster to Headmonster’ ,he had to be very careful to always check before sending!

Once while looking after my 10 year old grandson I texted ...he's fine I have him on the wine
