Morning all, still dark here.

Will get the 10yr old off to school, then I am off to the gym.

Flu & Covid jabs at lunchtime (I am dithering as never had them both together before)

Thinking of the poorly’s 🙋‍♀️

I had mine both together for the first time and it was fine. I know everyone is different though, so I’ll wish you luck and hope you have the same outcome 🤞

Thoughts with the fgts and all with troubles.
Pleased you’re home, Blossoming

Good morning from cloudy East Lothian. We drove up on Monday and are happily ensconced in our wee flat. DD & SiL are down in the Borders in their caravan, having a half-term break while DGSs are on a sailing instructors course. We all went to Abbotsford for lunch and a walk in the woodland garden. We spotted lots of interesting fungi - someone had cut a pair of eyes into this one 😀

We need to visit a flooring retailer to arrange a measuring up visit for new vinyl plank flooring to replace the stained carpet that was here when we bought this flat (we’ve tried removing the stains but no success and I hate the carpet anyway).

As with all on this community Mick has created, my thoughts and hopes are with the FGTs, Marydoll and others suffering pain and anxiety. I’m so pleased to read that Blossomimg is home - take it easy!

It was lovely to read about Babydoll - that girl will go far 😂

Peli, your Halloween decoration photos are great - just what we need as the weather gets colder with wind and rain forecast.

Ashcombe Fri 17-Oct-25 11:20:03

Lovely feeeling to be home surrounded by familiar things, Blossoming. Bliss!

Georgesgran Fri 17-Oct-25 11:15:21

Was it Dorothy said ‘there’s no place like home’ Blossoming.
Bet you’re pleased to be there.

Redcar Fri 17-Oct-25 11:05:38

Pleased you’re home blossoming, take it easy and just enjoy being home!

dragonfly I hope your DH’s operation goes well and that he makes a speedy recovery.

marydoll babydoll sounds so much like my littlest, who is adorable but a real little madam!

Grandmabatty Fri 17-Oct-25 10:52:35

Blossoming I'm glad you are home. Relax now

Blossoming Fri 17-Oct-25 10:48:35

I’m home! Feeling overwhelmed right now so am sitting quietly enjoying a cup of decaf.

GrannyIvy Fri 17-Oct-25 09:39:48

Good morning from another grey Cambridgeshire. My DD1 and family are in Zante and it’s even chilly and rain forecast all week there🙈

Marydoll I love hearing about Dollie and Babydoll your post did make me laugh out loud. I have someone like papa here😂

I’m doing a bit of running around today I need to go to the farm butchers, Waitrose, collect a Next parcel and choose my new glasses frames! Then school pick up and cook them dinner later.

Oh my goodness I find it so difficult to choose new frames for my glasses I know I will end up with something pretty much what I already have🤷‍♀️ A bit like DH always buys the same shoes!!

FGT’s ❤️

💐to all those struggling along today

Wishing everyone the best day possible

merlotgran Fri 17-Oct-25 09:21:04

Good morning all from a cloudy and dry south coast. I woke up with a very sore arm following my Covid jab yesterday. Worse than the last time.
My broadband issues were finally solved yesterday thanks to a phone call from somebody who knew what he was talking about and who I could understand. Such a relief to have it up and running again.
DD is coming for coffee this morning and to bring round my tulip bulbs from Farmer Gracy. We did a joint order to save on postage. Too early to plant them though.
Hope everyone has the best possible day. Like everyone my thoughts are with the FGTs.

Ziplok Fri 17-Oct-25 08:48:15

Good morning,

It’s very dull and grey here today, and not expected to change through the day. At least it’s dry.

I didn’t read the GM thread yesterday, so missed your update, fgt, and was saddened to read that Mr fgt has been so badly affected by the chemo send you both my best wishes. I do hope that Mr fgt can build up his strength once back home with you. 💐

Sending best wishes to you and Mr dragonfly, too, dragonfly46 💐

dragonfly46 Fri 17-Oct-25 08:41:16

Good morning from murky East Midlands.

DH’s consultant rang him yesterday to remind him that he will see him at 7.30 tomorrow for his op. I am a lot more nervous than he is.

Pilates and dog walking today.

Hoping Mr FGT is home now you are both in my thoughts [flowers

Marydoll Fri 17-Oct-25 08:33:58

This was my grandmother's cast iron soup pot.
DIL is going to use it as a witches cauldron on her doorstep.

Marydoll Fri 17-Oct-25 08:31:30

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 7°C.

I was sorry to read yesterday's sad Post from FGT.

Thank you Peli for the photos yesterday.
Dollie and Bavbydoll are so excited about Halloween. At Babydoll's insistence, I was forced to buy her a packet of orange , (her favourite colour) spiders. She was going to put them in daddy's red hair and he wouldn't see them. She thought this was hilarious,

Baby was on top form, but exhausting,
We had trouble getting her in the car seat, the straps were too tight, but DH had difficulty loosening them. He was getting more and more frustrated and cross.
I sat in the backseat with Baby cuddling in, who was defiantly refusing to go in the seat, saying, she didn't want to go home! (We were only going to the pharmacy. but she wasn't convinced.)
DIL, Dollie's mum appeared beside papa, trying to help, then Dollie's granny appeared on my side of the car, trying to coax BabyD, then finally Dollie appeared too, much to BabyD's delight.
It was like a family convention.
Eventually, I gave in and bribed her with jelly babies, In a split second, she became this happy, smiling toddler. The same could not be said about grumpy old Papa! 😡

Later she kept the queue in the pharmacy entertained. She is not allowed a dummy outside, but had sneaked one into her poaket. She has started to copy her other granddad's pronunciation of certain words.
She speaks politely, with random Scottish words thrown in. It is quite funny.
In the pharmacy, she put the dummy in her mouth and I pointed out that dummies were for inside (along with her inside voice, which she wasn't using). She argued that we were inside, I said we weren't. Then she pointed to the ceiling lights and said, 'Look Ga Ga, inside". I could not argue with her logic.
The people waiting in the queue were taking great interest in the discussion, to see who would win. I did not!

Later, we were walking in the main street, kicking through leaves and clutching orange spiders when Baby ordered me to sing Incie Spider. She joined in, singing at the top of her voice.
I looked up to see this man laughing loudly. I prayed, that I wouldn't see anyone I knew.

The plan in the afternoon was a walk down the drover's track to look for leaves etc.
We got out of the drive, but she refused to move, terrified of the noise from gardener"s sit on mower in the field beside us.
Feet planted firmly on the ground, she refused to move, insisting we play in the garden instead,
Unfortunately Papa had left the hose switched on, I too need to purchase a puddle suit. 💦💦💦💦💦💦

I was seriously flagging, with nowhere to sit (she had washed all the seats) and went to look for Papa, who had disappeared, so that I could get a rest.
I found him, coffee in hand, ensconced on the sofa, eating the rhubarb pie, which I had picked up for him on the way home from the surgery and happily doing doing Soduko.
My reaction is unprintable. 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
I am the grandparent, who is supposed to be resting!

Off to Argos this morning to buy a Spiderman helmet and a do Sainsbury's shop.
For the rest of the day I shall be resting. I do have a dress, which needs shortened, but it is tricky. LLFL, it too needs shortened by four inches,. I shall think about it.

Wishing you all a pleasant day, happy holidays and hugs for all, who need one,

Good morning all and it’s dreary here in Essex AGAIN!
No weather to speak of, just still, grey and gloomy. Give me wind, rain, snow, sun , anything but this emptiness. Oh dear !

Yesterday Dh had his hair appointment and he looks and feels like a new man , we then went into the cafe next door for breakfast where our Dd joined us. What a lovely place!
Delicious food and attentive waiting staff and so many different types of coffee. Coffee is my DH’s passion . It’s only round the corner from us but we’d never been.

Later we went to the Fire stove place and ordered a new woodburner , which will be installed early November, just in time for winter.🙏.

Today we’ll meet our Friday friends for drinks and chat. Our friendship goes back nearly 50years plus , and 70 years for the ‘boys’ (school pals) , So we know everything about each other and their families.

FGT you are in all,our thoughts and prayers. Take care of yourself as well as your lovely man. 🙏. 💐.

Enjoy the day as best you can 🍂

Good morning all from a still grey North Leicestershire.

DH and I had both jabs together on Wednesday, he has had sore arms while I felt really ill yesterday - shivery, headache and aching joints. I feel better today.

DD2 and DGDs2 and 4 are coming for the weekend and to go the football.

Have the best day possible, everyone.

Good morning all from a cold east of Fife it looks like the sun may shine today again this weathers all over the place.I’ve been awake all night long with terrible toothache I think I might be getting an infection in my tooth , I’ll pop into the local pharmasist this morning to see if he’ll give me something to reduce the pain
madeleine45 my thoughts are with you during your pain too

hollysteers Fri 17-Oct-25 08:20:13

Good morning from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast.
Music practice yesterday and I thought something had gone wrong with my left eye (my good eye) watching television, blurry floater thing. Forgot I was wearing an old prescription and ok when I changed specs. If anything happened to that eye I’d be in trouble.

Missed a lunchtime recital through after effects of flu jab (or special effects as someone mentioned here😁) but off to art this morning and will also look for new boots. M&S have some which look promising, but I’m looking for a more competitive price. Don’t like ordering footwear online.

Thoughts to Jax, I’ve had my share of dental troubles this padt year and to Baubles🌺
Another try for card I painted.

luluaugust Fri 17-Oct-25 08:08:56

Good morning from a grey W Kent. Very chatty time at art group yesterday, dreadful painting of falling leaves as I wasn’t concentrating. Lunch with DH at a favourite restaurant, we do struggle getting through the main course now
Today hairdressers thank goodness, I like longer hair but can’t cope either it day to day now.
Thinking of the FGTs
Best wishes to all

Liberty Fri 17-Oct-25 08:06:28

Good morning from yet another grey day in Suffolk. It’s reassuring to hear from others in different parts of the country that the sun is still with us,if just not here.

I’m off to Norwich later to meet a friend for lunch which we do every couple of months. She and her DH,who are seasoned travellers and worked in the States for many years, went on a cruise recently on a ship they hadn’t used before.

When being asked if it had been recommended, they mentioned our names and got a 10% discount which was considerable ,given the cost of their holiday. She was told to tell me that we can have a similar discount off the next holiday we book with them. Unfortunately it can’t apply to one already booked but is not time limited. I’ve never seen any reference in their literature to this!

FGT and Himself are very much in my warmest thoughts and prayers. Hoping all have the best day possible whatever your circumstances.

Good morning from a grey but dry NE, it is 7°.
DD and SIL are back in the UK, arrived yesterday afternoon, look forward to seeing them.
No shopping done this week so will see what is in the freezer for today's dinner and for tomorrow when DS and GD visit.
Thinking of FGT.
