RAC Renewals

I’d advise to check all your policies and subscriptions and don’t allow any of them to be set to auto renew. I’ve yet to find a company that isn’t open to negotiation if you query their renewal price and are likely to take your custom elsewhere. They hope you’ll drift on with their inflated renewal quote and maybe not even notice.

The AA is the same. I got ours a lot cheaper.

We have RAC cover included with our Hastings car insurance, no excess. It doesn’t include home start, but it did come in very handy when our car conked out at DD2’s, and they brought us back to our local garage when it couldn’t be fixed over there.

I paid 38.99 last year which includes home start. There is an additional call out charge of £40 if used, but I have been lucky enough not to need it.

Don’t forget that some banks offer roadside recovery as part of an account holder perk……yes you pay a monthly fee but that covers mobile phone insurance, travel insurance, and roadside recovery. And I do realise that it’s basic travel insurance and needs amending for medical conditions but the basics are there…….why pay twice if you’re already paying bank account fees?

If you are with the RAC please make sure to ring them if your renewel is increased substantially like mine. It went from £134 to £198 so I rang them to ask why and after a short discussion it was reduced to £128.99 a good saving. Apparently a 'loyality' discount was given I had been with them 20+yrs so do ask.
