It's being reported that the Metropolitan Police has launched a probe into Prince Andrew. Apparently an email has emerged from him asking his protection officer (Met employed, tax payer funded) to investigate Virginia Guiffre in order, allegedly, to dish some dirt on her.

He's certainly the Prince who just keeps on giving.

ronib, the thread on so called grooming gangs contains horrific details of the type of abuse girls then often seen as prostitutes we’re subjected to.
Yiu seem determined to undermine and sneer at the suggestion the sexual abuse, objectification and degrading treatment of vulnerable 17/year old Virginia G was criminal.
We have legal proof of a 14 year being exploited by Epstein.

I can't not believe that I have read that the victims Andrew et al. should just forget about their sexual assault because it happened 24 years ago and also the serious insinuation that these trafficked victims were prostitutes.

Wow.

ronib Fri 24-Oct-25 17:55:54

I believe that 17 year old may be trafficked and the services they provide are for paid sexual services. It’s highly unlikely that clients will get very involved in asking for any certificates of a right to practice? I imagine…. Do you think that they should? Allira

Prince Andrew has not got away with being treated so lightly…. In no way.
I do wonder if there will be a severe contraction in the number of clients using the services of prostitutes in the UK? It’s by no means an unusual practice. And it’s legal.

🤔

So are you actually saying that under-age, trafficked girls are prostitutes?

Casdon The Royal Lodge was the Windsor royal residence for Queen Mother. Clearly you are not understanding the importance of having multiple royal residences? Perhaps it alleviates the burden/boredom of royal life?

I love it, the idea that the RF need multiple residence whilst government stats show we have 169,050 children living in temporary accommodation in England,
16,263 children in Scotland who were assessed as homeless or threatened with homelessness. Northern Ireland 4:600
I couldn’t find numbers for Wales.

I’m a republican but want a slimmed down monarchy,
I find the notion the stress in their lives means we fund multiple residences at the same time as the families of these children face the stress of not always knowing where they’ll sleep. Volunteers found a family with six children homeless in our town centre ariund midnight. Thank goodness they did and were able to mobilise police, social work and council housing staff to get them food showers and shelter.

?? I think Eugenie and Beatrice might have more of an upheaval if Andrew and Sarah move abroad. Anniebach Switzerland has been mentioned?
I think some people are finding it hard to understand what all the fuss is about when there are so many current crises which could impact on our lives more than Andrew.
One does wonder when forgiveness kicks in? It did happen 24 years ago?

I don’t think they should have to move abroad, she will be off to do her 5th Oprah

Contrition in the sum of 12 million was it dollars or pounds?

Yes, disgusting that he got away so lightly. He should have been charged along with his criminal friends.

There is no price can be put on such abuse.

"Some people"? Rory Stewart on Newsnight and the inimitable Samantha Kane have attracted attention by going against the masses, and are being hammered on SM for doing so.

PA's "settlement" c£13million (the exact amount isn't public knowledge) was only paid in 2022 and many feel this was an avoidance by PA to prove his supposed innocence.

He has abused both charitable and taxpayers' funds, lives rent free, lies through his teeth and abuses his position.

It's not just about Virginia Guiffre, there is a long pattern of very dubious behaviour that has been covered up and allowed to continue.
Whether his behaviour has been criminal should be investigated, he should not be above the law because of his supposed status.

Hush money paid by mummy without accepting any accountability for your own choices is how you define contrition?

Well okay okay then…

I have no time for them. Go and live on a desert island. I feel really sorry for their daughters.

Offering forgiveness, even if the receiver is nothing to do with you and has not harmed you, allows you to let go of the past and the need to control the other person's feelings or behaviour.
Ultimately, the act of forgiving is a gift to yourself.

There is no expiration date on justified disgust of predatory, entitled behavior. People are capable of being concerned about multiple things at once.

Why is anyone who shows no contrition worthy of any type of forgiveness anyway?

Well said, BlessedArt!!

If he stays in Royal Lodge now how will it affect his daughters relationships ?

Vito Fri 24-Oct-25 14:19:22

Brilliant post Lemonjam, very informative. I notice no one else has picked it up, just carrying on about whether the late queen was a good mother or not 🙄. Any way thanks I agree entirely, she never stood a chance.

Let’s hope we don’t find out any time soon ronib.

Calendargirl Fri 24-Oct-25 13:03:02

The Duchy of Cornwall own Highgrove, so it’s William’s now, I suppose.

Charles pays rent to the Duchy.

Who knows what will happen when Charles dies?

ronib Fri 24-Oct-25 12:44:33

Wait and see Casdon. Don’t assume… it’s the RF after all? The same argument applied to the Queen Mother ?

I understand very well ronib. Camilla will need a London residence for her royal duties. She has her own house in the country, and I expect that she will be keeping Highgrove for her lifetime as that is the preferred home of the King. She does not need, and I highly doubt she would want, to use Royal Lodge, which is not currently vacant in any case.
