Still after all this, all those years ago, a few Brits still seem to think that having no other qualification other than being born into the firm, the royals are not as ordinary mortals and are above us and do have to obey the same rules as the rest of us.

I understand Windsors are trained from infancy to be diplomats. International diplomacy is the main part of the Windsors' skill set.

It's a pity that the Windsors' private lives clash with their diplomatic gravitas. I wonder how that was allowed to happen and which individual allowed it to happen.

I was very critical of Camilla when Diana died. Then I learned more about how she and Charles were not allowed to marry and he was manipulated into proposing to Diana. How different things would have been had they married years ago.

I think she does a good job as queen and suits Charles. She is happy to tag along and does not try to overshadow him the way Diana did.

However no-one will ever replace QEII.

I think that a Constitutional Monarchy is preferable to a Republic and that they are good value for money.

Andrew will not be Monarch and he should be removed from the line of succession, as should Harry as he has voluntarily removed himself from Royal duties.

If we changed to a Republic I am sure that the cost to the public would soar.

To a certain extent the monarchy is worth its keep. Isn't a profit and loss account,s sort of spreadsheet the best way to justify the monarchy or not as the case may be?
I'm partial to all processions with horses and I would hope those can be retained.
Obviously the royal family members must be moral men and women as the monarchy to survive must be held in respect.

There hasn't been any attention paid to what happened between Charles and Diana for years Magenta and I don't agree that there's any justification for supporting our Royal family. You either do or you don't.

I believe that Prince William is keen to slim down the royals so that they are more in line with the European monarchies.

I personally thought that the coronation was way over the top and I found the huge military displays tasteless and anachronistic. The royals should stop appearing in military outfits with rows of medals. The sun has well and truly set on the British Empire.

The Windsors are probably no worse than previous houses but every generation seems to throw up bad apples. Do the British public really still believe in the divine right of Kings?

I have to say that King Charles may have benefited from all the Prince Andrew business as it draws attention away from the fact that, as Prince Charles, he and Camilla treated Princess Diana abominably. Admittedly Princess Diana went off the rails but only after finding out that Camilla had been Prince Charles's lover before and during the whole of his marriage to Princes Diana.

Can we really still justify supporting the royals' lavish lifestyle in this day and age, especially as some of them behave so appallingly?

When Frogmore Cottage was left empty there were lots of articles saying Charles wanted Andrew to move out of Royal Lodge and into Frogmore. The terms of Andrew’s lease state that he must keep Royal Lodge in good repair and some drastic repairs needed doing which Andrew couldn’t afford to do. This was while Queen Elizabeth was still alive so his finances may have improved when she died and perhaps the repairs have been done. Apparently Fergie has property in Mayfair which could be sold or they could live there.

Ferguson very recently sold the Belgravia house to the tenants.
I don't think they have many options, l can't imagine another country welcoming him and why should we expect them to.

He should be under police investigating of misappropriation of funds, misuse of taxpayers' money and embezzlement of charity funds (Pitch@thePalace where submitted accounts sho missing tens of thousands of pounds, not accounted for.

Saville’s crimes were well known before his death - his connections kept him from the court. Thatcher was given warnings from MI5 and top politicians not to entitle him - she did what she wanted to do and ignored the warning.

Lots of prominent people were friends with Savile, Margaret Thatcher in particular who lobbied for his knighthood and Princess Diana as well. The extent of his crimes did not come to light until after he died.

His protection is funded by his brother, the King; a private security firm and a security system installed but no protection officers funded by the taxpayer.
