It's being reported that the Metropolitan Police has launched a probe into Prince Andrew. Apparently an email has emerged from him asking his protection officer (Met employed, tax payer funded) to investigate Virginia Guiffre in order, allegedly, to dish some dirt on her.

He's certainly the Prince who just keeps on giving.

Iam64 Sun 19-Oct-25 20:32:43

Smiles less, I’m not sure Prince Andrew is a reliable witness, even to himself 😉

Smileless2012 Sun 19-Oct-25 20:03:51

You're right merlotgran it is in a state of disrepair so maybe he'll want to move elsewhere.

I don’t think Andrew will want to set foot in the US. It could have bad repercussions for him. Here where the age of consent is 16 he has not committed an illegal act although he is morally reprehensible in most people’s books.

Smileless2012 Sun 19-Oct-25 19:54:32

Where did you get your information from about the Royal Lodge's state of repair merlotgran?

I don't know if he's innocent or not Bazza; the only one who knows now is Prince Andrew.

Bazza Sun 19-Oct-25 18:53:47

Would you really give twelve million pounds to someone you have never even met or heard of? Allegedly. Even if your mum shelled out I wonder if there’s a soul anywhere who believes in his total innocence. He’s such an embarrassment.

What new evidence Jane? So far all we know is that the Met is investigating claims made by the media.

PA is the brother of the King, Prince Edward and Princess Anne maybe their love for their brother is greater than some think, so why assume that they want him to be dragged out of the Royal Lodge kicking and screaming?

He might as well stay where he is. Apparently Royal Lodge has fallen into disrepair, inside and out and as the Waleses don’t want it I think it will be mothballed for the next generation.
It would be a bad move for the Crown to spend £millions of taxpayers’ money doing it up in the current climate.

The Met has launched an investigation into the media's claims about an email from Prince Andrew.

Ah, but was it the police protection office who he allegedly asked to look at stuff who informed the MET.

NotSpaghetti Sun 19-Oct-25 18:35:27

I read that the protection team were expected to investigate all potential threats to the people they were protecting.
I suppose at that point it may have been anything as we didn't know she was a victim.

Now The met are having to investigate claims in the media.
🤷‍♂️
Why can't we wait to see?

MayBee makes a good point about SF asking for cash to introduce people to Andrew. So tacky
I’ve always seen resemblance between some members of the RF and much of the aristocracy and the kind of characters seen in Shameless

He can probably afford the rent, but may have difficulty maintaining it. We don't know what the terms of the lease are with regard to maintenance and repairs.

Mind you, the Royal Family's idea of being short of funds is probably quite different to that of we mere mortals. Having to pass by Marks and Spencer and nip into Aldi instead probably doesn't feature on their list of cost saving exercises 😄

I think Andrew will have to be dragged out of Royal Lodge kicking and screaming and in the light of new evidence he may not dare to enter the USA; they could extradite him of course.

He’s got a 75 year lease, & apparently can afford the rent.

Fergie should have been kept well away from the Royal family after that time that she was caught taking money for introducing people to her ex husband. Should never have been allowed back into the fold. A leopard never changes it's spots etc etc.

Oh well, if Saint Oprah latches onto them then that will definitely mean lifelong exile.

Oprah will roast anybody in pursuit of fame and fortune and publicity - when she grilled Harry'n'Meghan she kept doing that open-mouthed 'I'm-So-Shocked-I-Can't-Believe-It' face, oozing genuine fake sincerity and pretending to believe Meg's poor-me fairy stories. Harry just sat there doing a pretty good impression of Stan Laurel.

Another fine mess that was.

Now the novelty has worn off and they've joined the rest of the California Euro-Trash contingent.

Andrew and Fergie will very likely join them - they've got to earn a crust somehow. And their eternal freeloading has just got boring and irritating.

Usedtobeblonde Sun 19-Oct-25 16:54:32

I also think a lot has been covered up,not only about Andrew.

Visgir1 Sun 19-Oct-25 16:51:38

I just assumed the protection team who followed his every move historically , know everything including who he was/had been in contact with. I also think that was passed onto the Palace, a long time ago. We won't know all the facts but I bet they do and there is more to come out I'm sure.
He really is a half wit.

May , may not

Fergie did Oprah after the divorce

Boz Sun 19-Oct-25 15:21:42

I worry about what Andrew and Fergie will do next.

I hope and pray Oprah does not pick them up - Living with Banishment; book to follow.

Perhaps Sarah could run a podcast on how to live disgracefully and Andrew cold flog Teddy Bears on QVC,

petra Sun 19-Oct-25 15:19:06

Brilliant thread title!

Well yes it would be Annie, it wouldn't be current. It was sent on the same day as the one he sent to Epstein despite having said contact with him had stopped long before. Coincidentally it was either the day before or the day after the photo of him with Virginia Roberts (as she was then) was published
