It's being reported that the Metropolitan Police has launched a probe into Prince Andrew. Apparently an email has emerged from him asking his protection officer (Met employed, tax payer funded) to investigate Virginia Guiffre in order, allegedly, to dish some dirt on her.

He's certainly the Prince who just keeps on giving.

And I would think publishers would run a mile.

I think they already have.

Most women don’t have a large staff , chef, kitchen staff etc

SF’s children’s books may be delightful I don’t know.

Children's books written by someone seen to befriend and be bankrolled by a convicted child sex offender would be considered distasteful and hypocritical by many.

And I would think publishers would run a mile.

Most women of her age will have planned for their later years, have saved into a pension pot, paid off their mortgage etc.

She's not most women though, Iam64.
She is extravagant, profligate and really quite dippy.

He is still the king’s brother. He is a security risk so needs a level of protection. Surely there’s a small cottage /house somewhere on a royal estate he can be given. His ex wife is something Andrew and their daughters can be responsible for. I don’t see SF as someone the public purse should fund.

Who is moving into the small house which William and Catherine are vacating?
Would that be suitable?

Or, as our neighbours did, convert a garage into a small home?
As long as the dogs are happy, that's all that matters as far as I'm concerned.

Fergie’s daughters apparently invested in a London property to provide some security for their mother.
Is this the one she sold and how come she was able to unless she had their permission?

ronib Wed 29-Oct-25 09:49:02

Interesting but I wouldn’t expect my son in law to support me. It’s usually the ex husband…..

She’s unlikely to be find a job in these circumstances. Yes she needs financial support

She’s 66 years old so will soon be due her state pension. Hopefully she’s squirreled away a few quid from the vast amounts of money she’s accepted from billionaires over the years to tide her over till then.

She sold her Belgravia property for nearly £4 million recently. Both her daughter’s are married to millionaires so I’m sure they’ll be able to support their mother.

Andrew and Sarah will need to sort out their new addresses soon in case their winter fuel allowance letters go astray.

SF has had her contract with Loose Women terminated. Her children’s books may be under threat although it’s hard to see why. I don’t think SF had a substantial payoff when they divorced. She’s unlikely to be find a job in these circumstances. Yes she needs financial support.

Do you really think it’s hard to see why nobody will want to read her books to their children, ronib?

Anniebach Wed 29-Oct-25 09:26:20

In the divorce settlement she was given money to buy a house and an annual cash settlement, a no fault divorce but there was the holiday toe nibbling photograph

She has written two autobiographies, surely more to follow and more tv interviews in America

The couple will have to live in Windsor, they will have some security there, he doesn’t have security now but seems he leaves his house only for golf and horses. She travels the world often, never heard of her having paid security and she certainly trots around the world

How do you know that Prince Andrew was advised? RosieandherMaw

This is old news about Princess Beatrice’s 18th party. It’s beginning to look as if Prince Andrew didn’t have very effective or sound advisors if he was unaware of the charges facing Epstein at that time.

Andrew should be in prison- he'd be very safe there.

Well that’s just silly.
He hasn’t (been proved to) break any laws in this country.

Excellent points here about why the public purse should support Sarah Ferguson (never mind Andrew)

I really think they'd both cause issues in a normal community. They are hated and will be targets. Imagine being their neighbour, imagine the burden on local police trying to clear hostile people, dealing with vandalism. At least in the Windsor estate they are isolated from the public and no extra burden as I'm sure security is high there.

Maybe not the properties they want but I think there is a commonsense argument for housing them at Windsor.

theworriedwell Wed 29-Oct-25 08:15:55

Allira thank you, I'm full of vitamin C at the moment and feel like I've turned a corner this morning, fingers crossed.

Thank you, it's certainly had a big impact on my life.

Anniebach Wed 29-Oct-25 07:58:04

Can anyone be so unpleasant at home, in school, in work

ronib Wed 29-Oct-25 05:16:28

Abu Dhabi Royal Family apparently offered free use of a luxury palace to Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson for his ‘kindness’. He’s obviously a marmite character… wonder what he did for them?

Eloethan Wed 29-Oct-25 00:07:40

A despicable person who was widely disliked for his boorish behaviour when he was a business ambassador.

Princess Beatrice is married to a multi-millionaire (if not billionaire). Princes Eugenie's husband is hardly on the poverty line.

If my Mum or Dad allegedly had nowhere to go and I was in that kind of fortunate financial position, I don't think I'd be expecting someone else to house them.

The alternative, I suppose, is to get in the queue at 8am outside the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead's offices like anyone else.

I wonder how long before we see them on Escape to the Country with Alistair Appleton doing his tongue in cheek, ‘Aw Bless’ at the camera? 😂
