I do have a sub to the i it costs me £20pa and I like the news and the puzzles,
so I could open the link.
I don’t work for the i and I’m not promoting it.
Lots of links on GN and elsewhere require a subscription. I tend to ignore them or read the posts from those who can access the link.
Someone posting a link isn’t necessarily promoting anything or working for the source, though if you’re Reddit user and that’s what they do, I can understand why you think so.
Casdon has offered you some good advice.
If you think something warrants reporting, much braver to do it yourself rather than say someone else should do it.

Join your library’s scheme, WithNobsOnIt, access to i and other mainstream media is then free.

Please don't post things that involve getting through a subscription.

Makes me wonder if you are genuine or that your work for newspaper or a promotion company and are trying to drum up business.

This is the sort of thing they do on Reddit with their phoney links.

I had the Diana comic and the annuals at Christmas. I too, went on to Jackie and had the posters all over my bedroom walls.

I too went from 'Bunty' to 'Jackie' but I don't remember the type of advice given. We have to remember that things are different these days. My DD was telling me horror stories of things going on in one of her previous workplaces, which from today's perspective are completely unacceptable, but back then were commonplace. She was quite shocked at how different things were then. Women have become much more savvy and won't put up with bad behaviour from male colleagues now.

My dad still carried on buying it for me after I got married.

Really interesting piece. I wasn't a Jackie reader; by the time it started I was into Petticoat and Honey, but I did write short stories for the mag towards the end of its existence in the '90s. I think Just 17 was actually its biggest rival. It seemed a lot more grown-up somehow (and yes, I wrote stories for that one as well!). The advice given is quite mind-boggling! Imagine now, taking being 13 and dating a 21 year old as quite normal!

I was about 11 when Jackie came out and I loved it . Before that I read the Bunty or my mums Woman’s Own . It was great to have a magazine aimed at my age . I loved all the posters of pop stars and had them up all over my bedroom walls . I did read the problem page but took it all with a pinch of salt . I probably only bought the magazine until around 1969 when I was 16.

I could open the link without any problem. The writer looks at things thru the prism of today and suggests that Cathy and Claire problem page was positively harmful and condoned sexual harassment etc. My friends and I loved Jackie and didn’t take the problem page too seriously- in fact I remember girls sending in made up problems for a laugh. I don’t think any of us suffered too much and a few years ago I went to see Jackie The Musical based on the mag, the audience was full of women of our generation and we loved it

I went from Bunty to Jackie I loved them both.

I too can't open the link but loved Jackie and couldn't wait for the next issue. I remember one feature about star signs and which after a lot of faff gave predictions of the 1st letter of the name of the person you'd marry. I only knew one boy with my given 1st letter, L, and at 12yrs old was mortified that there was a chance of me marrying Lanky Len so I used to blank him whenever he spoke to me - how awful of me. Have to admit though that Jackie was right, my DH's first name starts with L !

I was an avid Jackie reader as a young teen. I remember their makeover competitions, where they was a whole coordinated season’s outfits to win, and I spent weeks hoping I had won - no such luck.

I could open it, and I liked Jackie.
Now, reading answers in the problem pages, some are quite odd and others sensible.
how about this one from the 6 June 1964 edition? “We six girls work together in an office. One of the men in charge, although married, pays a great deal of attention to each of us. Five of us take it with a pinch of salt, but the sixth, who is twenty, takes it very seriously… how can we make her see the light before she is heart-broken?”
This is a married manager sexually harassing teenage girls in the office! So, what was the response? “Tell each other what this man has said to you, making sure the girl can hear. Let her see that you people take it as a joke.” I beg your pardon! The solution is to joke loudly about how he sexually harasses everyone in the hope of publicly humiliating the one poor girl who actually believes him? Jackie
