harri 🌹 I have only recently felt like listening to a playlist DH made for me. I hope listening to your DH’s choices brings some comfort.

Good Moaning from the rainy & cold west midlands. The hot water/heating is on the blink! Luckily useful but very annoying brother in law is here to help. Currently hiding in the utility room with the dog, where its peaceful.

FGT imagine if we had all the arms of an octopus and needed warm knitted jumpers grin

You made me giggle and now I cannot stop laughing. It could have happened with natural selection and busy people doing ten things at once

Gingster how odd your GC are on two weeks half term, ours are all still at school. One week half term next week.

As you are so close it must be a pain for parents with children either side of the big road 🤷‍♀️

Good morning from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast. Out last night with fellow artist. She was hosting an open mic night and first time visiting this venue for me. She’s also a rock singer so I wore my pleathers and black suede boots. My stuff is too classical to sing there but I really enjoyed it and was even complimented on “my style” by a young rocker! I loved his style too, although my boots were ‘car to bar’ and I certainly couldn’t walk around all day in them.

Then as often happens after two glasses of wine, I had horrible cramp all the rest of the (short) night, and with the colder weather, even my hands joined in. Used my usual muscle spray, but not much help. Knackered today.
Off now for annual eye test.
Thoughts to harrigran dragonfly and FGT🌺

Good morning from a dull, grey and wet Black Country.

It rained most of the day on our journey home on the M5.

Saturday we paid a visit to Wells, luckily although dull it didn't rain.

Missing out the walking group this morning, then Line Dancing this afternoon. Then next Monday, miss the Line Dancing and join the walking group.

Wishing you all the best day possible, with hugs to FGT's Marydoll and all with health concerns.

Good news for you dragonfly I hope your DH continues to make a good recovery.
sar so sorry that poor S is having such a tough time at the moment. Hopefully her lung problems can be stabilised to enable her to continue her education uninterrupted.

What a pleasant surprise for you Dragonfly ☺️ I hope he continues to recover well.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's dry so far.

I've decided to go with the walking group today as I feel as if I can do 5 miles, mainly riverside. I miss it when I don't go.
I got a few jobs finished yesterday including my report on the church weekend. I used AI as an aid and now feel embarrassed but I wonder if anyone reading it will even notice. If they do I'll confess.🤭

I know I couldn't do the child care you do Grandmabatty . I had my 2 youngest twice this week but only half a day at a time. I hate when they get bored and tired or start squabbling.
I miss them now.
It's my Helper's last day today but she promises to return. She's been great.

Hope everyone has the best day possible. I'll be back to read your doings.

Gingster Mon 20-Oct-25 08:41:56

Good morning all and it’s damp and dreary here in Essex.

Yesterday my db1 and his wife came for coffee and we chatted non stop for a couple of hours. Dh doesn’t say much and gets tired with visitors. They brought a bag of apples , so after they left I made an apple cake which was delicious .

Today I’ll take ‘stuff’ to the charity shop and then on to do food shopping, in preparation for the next few days after my cataract operation on Wednesday.

The children here are on half term which is for 2 weeks this year. Usually only one week.

I hope you all have a peaceful day. 🍂

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow 11°C,

We too had baked gammon yesterday, it had been marinating since Saturday. A rare compliment from came from DH's lips. Consequently he is having the leftovers tonight. I will make a bubble and squeak and put the ham through it.
I'm not sure, what I will have, my appetite is still poor.

Yesterday was a bit of a non day, because I didn't feel too well. l stupidly thought I was improving, but I'm not. Life is so restricted at the moment, we are unable to make plans. We have cancelled our proposed break in Edinburgh. I'm quite disappointed.

On top of everything else, my COPD has flared up.
Something has just occurred to me, for as long as I can remember, every October, I developed a chest infection, it is a mystery. Usually, I was doped up with steroids, when we paid our annual October visit to Rome

I did spend the morning cutting up four hundred November lists for parishioners to name their deceased friends and relatives. Even with the guillotine, it was a boring and lengthy task.
The P.P, who is still on sick leave, decided to say the Vigil Mass, but it was obvious that he is still very unwell. When we asked him where the blank lists were, we were met with a puzzled look. He had totally forgotten about them.
I trawled the parish PC, with the help of the young sacristan, but no template was found.
I managed to find four blanks from last November, put them on an A4 sheet and photocopy the sheet, to make a master. Panic over until the next crisis
They are not the most professional of forms, but I'm sure the deceased of the parish won't mind😉
I'm in the middle of making a new version, but my PC is not co-operating at all. Bring back Windows 97!!! Nice and simple. I'm dreading installing Windows 11, especially as it means buying new PCs for DH and I 💸💸💸💸💸🙈

Today, I will drop the lists off at church and pop into Lidl for jam and baking materials.
A day of rest was planned today, but DH has found several pairs new chinos in the depths of his wardrobe. Heaven knows when he bought them, he has not personally shopped for clothes in years.
He is not a standard leg size, therefore they will need altered, a job I do not enjoy.

Ash, your life in France sounds idyllic.

Baubles, memories appeared on my tablet last night from six years ago. You kept popping up, looking lovely, as usual.♥️

Finally, so pleased to hear the good news of your DH, Dragonfly, wishing him a gentle recovery.

Enjoy your day, folks and of course thinking of al, those on here, who are struggling.

Morning from a soggy S Hants, we had monsoon like rain yesterday afternoon, more due today.
It was a quiet weekend, I did venture to meat draw, but didn’t win, voluntary phone today and quiz tonight.
Good news dragonfly easily said, but look after yourself.
Tough for the whole family Sar, it seems incessant for the young lady.
Raining now, enjoy your days if you can.

Good morning from a slowly brightening NE.
Yesterday was a grey miserable day with heavy rain from mid afternoon.
DD and SIL came and we went out for lunch at a country hotel, made a lovely change.
Today is the 4th anniversary of DH'S death, I am staying home and will mark the day playing the music he loved.
Thinking of FGT and Marydoll.

Good morning from Cambridgeshire where it is a bit chaotic in our house. Why does decorating one bedroom cause mess everywhere. The bed mattress is propped on the landing with various bits of furniture. I am camping out in the smallest bedroom and DH is in the double room surrounded by stuff!! We seriously need to do a bit of decluttering🙈 Need to choose a new bedroom carpet and arrange the fitting as soon as possible. DH is very thorough but a slow decorater but insists on doing it all himself. I have a feeling it will be a long muddly week but going with the flow! I will escape out to DD2’s house this morning to
plant a few bulbs for her and then on to the local garden centre for a brunch with two friends. The dgc will be here later after school.

Wishing everyone a good Monday. Dragonfly pleased to hear your DH is recovering well. My thoughts are with those struggling along 💐

Good morning from Shropshire.A day of sunshine and showers forecast.

Today we will sugar soap the kitchen in preparation for painting. At the moment we have a quiet week planned🙏🏻our weeks seem to be all or nothing.Like others we find things more tiring these days so appreciate the quiet days but still look forward to our childcare days.

Good to hear your DH is doing well dragonfly.Hope Marydoll is ok and that we hear from her today🙏🏻

Wishing our mountaineers and everyone the best day possible🦩🌻

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 20-Oct-25 08:17:19

good job we havent got more than two arms

A first smile of the day thank you karma! You have a wonderfully dry sense of humour.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry and will be 14°C but showers forecast. I will be on the first of my two buses at 11am as Himself is still in hospital.

Good morning from Durham. A cooler day is forecast with rain later. I’m meeting a friend this morning for coffee then my first ever physiotherapy appointment this afternoon! I’m not sure what to expect, but my back has been bothering me for three weeks now, so I need some action/advice rather than just waiting for it to improve on its own - I’m impatient!
Both DDs are unwell. DD1 is beginning her third week off work with severe Covid and her ongoing back problems, while DD2 has gone down with the most horrendous cold. Luckily their little ones are at school, so they can get some rest for a few hours.

Thinking of those unwell and their carers.

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning from another dull Suffolk where we had rain last evening. Ithink more is forecast for later.

I have a pile of ironing staring at me that I shall do this morning after our dog walk and then read more of my book ‘ The Magician’ by Colm Toibin which I am really enjoying. It’s about Thomas Mann and his fascinating family but a novel not an autobiography.

Hoping today is a good one for all.

Grandmabatty Mon 20-Oct-25 07:56:00

brook dgs1 has been up for an hour, playing football with a sponge ball in the living room. He's now eating breakfast. Dgs2 hasn't surfaced yet!

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s been raining since yesterday morning, but due to dry up later
Good to hear your DH is doing so well dragonfly
I need to do some food shopping today, we’ve family arriving tomorrow to stay for a few days. I hope the weather improves a bit as they enjoy being outdoors and walking.
Enjoy your visit to Valetta today ginny
Hope the boys are good for you today grandmabatty
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
