Online returns

I may have seen a thread about this recently but can’t find it.
A couple of weeks ago I ordered a jumper from Crew Clothing.
I do most of my shopping online as I can’t get out much.
Lovely jumper but too big, I checked to see if I could reorder but it was out of stock in the smaller size so I ordered it in a different colour.
I waited until the new one came before returning the first..
The company sent me a code for a return label to be printed.
I currently don’t have a working printer so I rang the company and they sent me a QR code, gave me two different Post Offices to choose so I chose the nearest.
Asked my GD to please return it but she said she was busy but would do it at the weekend
!!
She tried to do it today and the Post Office wouldn’t accept it,said it was out of date.
She tried Evri, they wouldn’t accept it so at the moment I have a jumper, too large and £52 out of pocket.
To say I am not happy is an understatement.
I shall try to get the company to answer the phone again later but just wanted to vent my frustration.
Going shopping is not an option, I dread to start thinking about my Christmas presents.
Money all round I think.

Hopefully you can contact the company and they will send you another code it should not be a problem unless you have gone over the time frame for a return. Just a thought, when you ring ask if Evri or the Post office can do a home collection of that is more convenient for you.

Thank you I will.
I have never gone down the collection route but I may start.

Was this a sale item at all? I just had a look at Crew Clothing and their sale items only have 14 days to return, otherwise it's 28 days. I just wondered if that might be the reason.

Usedtobeblonde Mon 20-Oct-25 15:52:27

I think it probably is.
However when I filled the returns form it said I had a date in December by which to return it.
I may have an expensive mistake on my hands😪

You can get the Post Office to collect and they will bring labels - great service

I’m afraid they’ve had a terrible review on Trustpilot when it comes to their customer service etc. I find that when I’ve had a problem with a service contacting them via Facebook messenger seems to get a better response. I’ve resolved to always check a company out on Trustpilot before I purchase anything but keep forgetting to do so sad.

Usedtobeblonde Mon 20-Oct-25 16:51:55

Thankyou MayBee they are hard to contact as well.
I shall know better next time.

Maybe we both need to remind ourselves every now and again to check these companies! I know that I’m going to end up making the same mistake again! Having said that, apart from one awful toy that I bought for the grandchildren for Christmas that arrived weeks later and was nothing like the description ( you were supposed to be able to build play houses with it but the connecting parts were more like flimsy straws) and some shoes that were nothing like the description I’ve just about got away with my online mistakes. Even with the flimsy dangerous table that I bought from Musthaveideas they reimbursed me and I didn’t have to return it. Again I achieved that via Facebook messenger.

My GS who is a bit of a fighter is going to deal with it.
She is very forthright and I shall leave her to it.

www.crewclothing.co.uk/returns/

There is an option in the list to request a Royal Mail collection from home.

I use this with Amazon, in fact I sent six parcels back today.
Far easier than taking them to the post office!

Agree, I have used this service several times. Also, Evri if you need to use, a lot of local shops are accepting returns all you just need the QR code, it so easy. Sure your GD will be on the case for you.

I am currently having a battle royal about returning a faulty (useless) product. Being batted from pillar to post. A third party item purchased from Tesco. Spoke to Tesco on Saturday and was told that I had to speak to the supplier on Monday morning and the operative would ring me back on Monday evening. So far so good.

The supplier does not speak to anyone but referred me to their email contact. Sent one of those, only to be told that I need to speak to Tesco!

Of course the Tesco operative did not ring me back. Only means of contact now is via live chat with a flipping Robot called Pearl., who can't answer the query but sends me to "Just Answer" which wants £1 and all my bank details. No.

There is nothing to be fixed. Return and refund is all I want.

Grrrrr.......

Have returned items to Crew Clothing many times without any issues. Use the online return centre and choose Royal Mail or Evri collection.

Usedtobeblonde Tue 21-Oct-25 14:53:38

Thank you Philomena, we are hoping for a good outcome but seem to be coming up against obstacles at the moment.
I am hopeful.

A good news story from me. I bought my dog a new toy for her birthday that lost its squeak very quickly. She’s had the same toy before and gets very sad when the squeak goes but it usually lasts for quite a long time. It’s not a cheap toy and she only has access to it once a day even though she’s very good with her toys and still has her toys from puppyhood which are in good condition. I contacted the company last night and they’re going to replace it. I think it’s only because of this thread that I decided to contact the company. So a big thank you from me and Winnie.

I detest companies that don’t enclose a returns label.
It’s such a simple thing to do.

Instead it’s the option of printing a label, don’t have a printer either. Or a blessed QR label. I can’t get on with those things. They never seem to work for me. So I understand the frustration here.

There are certain companies that enclose returns labels such as Damart. Roman. Freemans. So much easier so I tend to stick mainly with them for clothing.

I’ve ordered many items of clothing from Crew and never had a problem with returns. I didn’t know about the 14 day return window for sale items though.

This is the worst thing about shopping on line. Not being able to try on clothes and returns.

l only buy stuff l can click and collect at my nearest store.

It’s hard when you live nearly 10 miles from civilisation i.e. the nearest half decent shop. I hate online shopping too.

DH got caught with this one from M&S - they have the same policy and my birthday present could not be returned even though they still had my size on the sale rail! Another reason for no longer being an M&S fan

I try to buy clothes "click and collect" if I can, then I can usually try them on and return them there and then. If I buy from John Lewis I can return to Waitrose too.
You might like to know that M&S also do some Crew clothing, they may have the size you actually need if you can return your unwanted package.

I noticed yesterday that the trousers I was intending to order from Cotton Traders would cost another £3 for click and collect. No. Another customer lost.

Usedtobeblonde Fri 24-Oct-25 11:46:44

I am pleased to report that after getting back on to Crew clothing they sent me another QR code and a link to Royal Mail collection.
My parcel has just been collected and I am delighted.
Will certainly use this service again so thank you for all the replies, so very helpful.
