Had one of those mandolins? Not sure if that’s the correct name. Anyway took the tip off my dam finger. Ruddy thing went straight into the bin.

Do people still use those little ceramic 'funnels"?

Yes I still use my great grannies blackbird, slight chip on the beak, but it pokes out of the pie, so shouldn’t be too unhygienic.

I have a pie maker, and do use it, although I tend to have fads with things like that. It is useful for using up leftovers. I use leftover curry, for instance, and freeze the pies to use when I can't be bothered to cook, or as a quick lunch. They are very easy to use and clean, and you don't need as much food as a pie filling as you would as a meal on its own. One portion will make two or three pies.

I love kitchen gadgets though, so am maybe not the best one to ask😀

I've never tried a pie maker, but my late husband did buy me a spiraliser. For about half an hour I thought it might be useful, but once I had made courgette, carrot, and potato spirals I had pretty much exhausted its possibilities. The recipe book that came with was full of pasta sauces and I've got dozens of recipes for them. It went back into its box and, when my husband died, it was the first thing to leave the house!

I have no desire to be reached out to, and I don't want anyone opening up to me!

My kitchen/poultry shears are Pampered Chef, really good.

No pie maker as I have my granny’s pie dish.

If anyone reaches out to me in the kitchen they are likely to be tapped with a wooden spoon.

As for journeys down the High Road, to the gym, to the big shops or going on holiday…

Spring loaded poultry shears for me - have had them years so don't know the make.

No pie maker sorry.

And ask me anything.

I purchased one of those pie makers. Made two. Not sure why I bought it - just a sucker for kitchen gadgets.
So, main problem was how very deep they were, much deeper than any pies savoury or sweet that I normally make.
I had no problem with keeping them clean, but very quickly went back of not using them.
Suppose if you do not have a workable oven these could have a use. I 'played' with them two or three times, then sold them at a Car Boot stall.

1. OXO Good Grips Spring-loaded Poultry Shears. Shears - for meat - not Scissors. Brilliant.

2. No electric pie-making knowledge. Sorry.

3. Reached out to? Awful, like ‘journey’ when it never involves mileage!

I need poultry scissors. From what I have read, the ones with a straight handle on one side and a loop on the other, tend to slither, so I think I need a double loop pair. Saw James Martin spatchcocking a chicken in a nano second using such a device. I have failed to find any. Thoughts gratefully received, please!

Secondly, has anyone used one of those electric pie makers? If so, how useful are they and how difficult/easy to clean? I hasten to add that I am quite capable of making pastry but, at the moment, I have limited ability to use an oven (it does not work!!).

Thirdly, who else cringes about being "reached out to"? Or is it just me? Ask me a question by all means but I do not want a naffing hug!
