Good morning from a wet Essex coast but I think we are forecast the rest of the day to be dry.
DD1 rang me on the way to hospital last night to relieve her DH who was with S who has been there since Sunday. She has been very poorly, the result of having Covid then a chest infection.
I'm waiting for news this morning. I didn't sleep too well so a quiet day is planned.
I wish I lived closer to them but a 6 hour round trip is not just around the corner. I have plans to see them soon.
I wish you all a pleasant day, best wishes to all xx

Morning, the ground is wet and we have clouds. Quiz last night was funny with my daughter and granddaughter in our team, we didn’t get placed, it was very busy.
I must update the spreadsheet with yesterday’s phone calls, I did get two new tyres on my car and was educated as to where my locking wheel nut is!
Today some garden pottering, the buddlea needs a good prune and I’ve the front tubs to plant up.
It’ll niggle for a while Susan your trust has been dented.
Small steps dragonfly 🤞

Good morning all. Winter is upon us!

Yesterday Chimes group was full of fun and laughter . We will be performing at the U3A Christmas concert, so a lot of rehearsals are required. Only 6 of us there out of 8 so the music has to be amended. Hilarious. Teacher ended the session by saying ‘Anyway’! with a shrug. 🤣. We don’t care , it’s all for fun and it gives the audience a laugh.

I went on to Sainsbury for gluten free food . It was chaos in there with the children off school. I saw my friends Dd who works there. She got out of the rat race in London and is a much happier lady with her stress free job. She said ‘I go to work and home again and sleep well. She was a high flyer with a lot of responsibility. It says a lot doesn’t it, quality of life and all that.

Today I’ll make soup for my visitors tomorrow and then go to Bridge Club this afternoon.

Greyduster how strange! I woke in the night, reached out and had a sip of water, and completely missed the table putting it back. Water everywhere! 2am! I just put a towel down and it’s now almost dry.

I hope all your days are good ones.🍂

Good Morning from Durham. It poured down late last night, but it’s fine, dry, and very windy now.
I’ve DD2’s laundry to finish. She’s still unwell, testing positive for Covid and has had to cancel her annual spinal appointment. I hope that doesn’t mean she’ll miss a whole year.
My friend is off to Cambridge today to catch sit for her daughter, so I’ll miss our weekly meet-up.
Plumber coming later to fit a part to a cistern, then I can pay his entire bill, including the boiler service last month. Encouraging news for the FGTs

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning from a dull and cloudy south coast. Yesterday’s trip to B&Q with DD was abandoned as I still wasn’t feeling great so we’re going today instead. The day wasn’t entirely wasted though as I made leek and potato and chicken and vegetable soup for the freezer. Nothing like a bowl of chicken soup when you’re feeling grim!
Hope everyone has the best possible day.

NannyJan53 Tue 28-Oct-25 07:41:36

Good morning from a much brighter Black Country.

Great day for my Monday walk yesterday, dry and not too cold. We walked over 5 miles! Then home for lunch and 30 minutes lie down!

MrJ had to go to the 02 shop in Merry Hill, as he had a few e-mails supposedly about a new contract he had set up, for £40 a month. He only pays £11.50 at the moment. They confirmed it was a scam! How they manage to do this is puzzling. Surely they must have to know his name, number, DOB, bank details. They changed his SIM so hopefully it is sorted, but I told him to keep and eye on his bank account.

I too have a family worry niggling at me corner I tell myself it won't help but in the early hours it churns in my mind.

Friend is picking me up at Noon to take me out for lunch for my birthday which was in September, but first date we could both manage. I don't know where we are going, so hopefully a lovely surprise. Her birthday is in November, so I will be doing the same for her, though lately it ends up being in the new year.

Wishing you all the best day possible, thinking of FGT's Dragonfly, Marydoll Kalu and anyone with health worries who I may have missed out.

brook2704 Tue 28-Oct-25 07:37:02

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a grey and wet start to the day
Dragonfly good that your DH is improving, albeit slowly
I’m off to the gym for a couple of classes this morning, an aerobics class first then a dance class. It’s nice that there’s time in between the classes for a coffee with other gym ladies. Then I’ll do my usual riverside walk back into town and get the bus home.
I hope you enjoy your new walking group greyduster, lovely to have something new to do to start off the week
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

GrannyGravy13 Tue 28-Oct-25 07:31:00

Good morning from a wet and windy S E Essex.

We are down to two GC today, The Imp and his 10yr old brother (who will walk over to the local senior school for Sports Camp.

ginny Tue 28-Oct-25 07:24:41

Good morning. It is dry outside at the moment , no idea of the forecast.
I’m hoping to do a short walk today, my foot is almost back to normal but will be cautious.
I’ll bake the Christmas cake that I mixed yesterday, make a loaf of bread and gather together all the materials for tomorrow’s craft club project. Otherwise we’ll see how the day goes. I am looking forward to choir practice this evening.
As always thinking of those with worries and concerns and a good day wished for all.

dragonfly46 Tue 28-Oct-25 07:17:30

Good morning from a bright East Midlands.
DH again a little better but not looking as if all the tubes in his hands and neck are coming out any time soon.
I will visit alone today as DS has meetings all day.
At least DD will be back in the country this morning.

Wishing every one the best day possible.

harrigran Tue 28-Oct-25 07:17:21

Good morning from a very windy NE where we had overnight rain.
Yesterday was a quiet day with just a few jobs around the house and then an evening in front of the TV.
Hairdresser coming this morning and then DD and SIL will take me shopping so I can stock the cupboards. They are returning to their home in Brussels tomorrow and I don't know when I will see them again.
Good to hear the news from FGT.
Have a good day everyone.

luluaugust Tue 28-Oct-25 07:11:43

Good morning from W Kent. Another home day planned, I shall do a bit of batch cooking and look at the Christmas card list, we really need to cut back but that is not straightforward now so many friends are on their own.
Best wishes to all

kittylester Tue 28-Oct-25 07:08:13

Good morning all from a windy North Leicestershire. Well, from my bed, the trees over the road are blowing around.

DH has a volunteer drive first thing and then DD1 is driving over for the first time since her reconstruction surgery. We will go to the marina for lunch.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Redcar Tue 28-Oct-25 07:07:34

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. A fine day is forecast but it’s raining hard and windy at the moment, so I hope it clears up. I’m looking after DD1’s dog at my house today, they’re out for the day and have builders in their house so can’t leave the dog there! They’ve also borrowed my car as theirs is awaiting repairs.

I’m glad you’re able to keep warm without your heating karma.
roses it’s good that you will have shelter in the school garden over the winter. Even better that you found a bargain tumble dryer to replace your creaky one.

Thinking of those who are struggling and hope that life improves for you.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Grandmabatty Tue 28-Oct-25 06:54:33

I hope that your mum is treated better Susan. Something to keep an eye on

Greyduster Tue 28-Oct-25 06:54:19

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where the sun is not quite up in a moody sky. I slept reasonably well last night and then reaching out to turn the bedside light on, managed to knock over a full glass of water. Good start.
Yesterday I nervously joined a new local walking group. They were very welcoming and warm people. The routes they walk are not a rural idyll - in fact, I’ve lived here for fourteen years and couldn’t really tell you where we went - but it was all very enjoyable, a good way to start off the week, and I shall look forward to doing it again. In the afternoon I gave my front lawn what I hope will be its last cut and cleared up leaves, mostly sycamore, which we are currently knee deep in - a bit of a pointless task at the moment as today we will doubtless be knee deep again.
I may go to the gym later, and will certainly tackle the ironing mountain.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Susan56 Tue 28-Oct-25 06:50:31

Good morning from Shropshire.A dry and sunny day forecast.

I spoke to management at the home who were appalled and very apologetic.Hopefully it was a one off, I still feel stressed about it all.Staff will be spoken to and lessons will be learned🙏🏻I hope there are no repercussions to my speaking out.

Today the children will be coming this afternoon for a sleepover.

Thinking of all with mountains to climb and wishing everyone the best day possible for them🦩🌻

Ashcombe Tue 28-Oct-25 06:47:49

Good morning from a calm and dry Torbay where it’s already starting to become light.

Well, it’s good to be home but the journey was not without its moments! Some of you may have heard that the M5 was closed late morning due to an accident yesterday. Where we join it briefly as we leave the A30, the traffic was queued up for some miles.

“Let’s go down this road!” suggested DH.

In typical Devon fashion the road soon narrowed to one of those infamous lanes we have hereabouts which several others were using. In both directions! I so love reversing downhill on narrow country lanes…..! 🙄

Later the Toads theatre AGM was well attended and resulted in four new people being elected to the committee, two of whom are under 50. That has to be good news (but not for those who were ousted as a result.)

Good to hear Mr. FGT’s news.

Wishing you all an easy day. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

madeleine45 Tue 28-Oct-25 06:42:17

Good morning Mick and all GN's from a very dark north yorkshire. Cant even see if it s raining or dry, but cant hear any rain so hoping for the dry, as have a washer load ready to go onto the line, but will have to wait for enough daylight to see what I am doing, and get the cover off the yellow peril. Wet washing is too heavy to carry and a bit too far these days. rather depressing to accept that I cant even walk down that far, which used to be no problem , and I would often walk around the borders and see what plants and flowers were growing on the way back! Grateful to not be in so much pain this morning but a total mess up of the evening yesterday. Had put the washing in, and started to watch a programme called the shipping forecast with Richard Coles , where he was travelling to various places. Of course, with my sailing background it was just the sort of thing I wanted to see and it began in a very good way. Blow me, I fell asleep and missed it all and only woke about 11pm, which then of course meant that I have not had much sleep since. How annoying!!

Anyway a much sorting day planned for today. First get the washing out if the weather is ok, then I have to pack up the computer as I have booked an appointment with the techy genius Archie. Several annoying different things I need sorting out and most of all need his advice about the change of windows 10. I gather that it is just the support bit that is closing not the actual windows 10 in itself, which had rather thrown me into a bit of a panic. When windows 11 came in there were so many hitches and problems, I had no intention of letting them use me as a guinea pig and had friends who had lost documents etc from moving across, so planned to wait for things to smooth out. People still seemed to be grumbling about it so I was happy with my windows 10, which I knew how to use and what I was doing, but now I need to plan what to do for the future. I am hoping that a planned course at upfront comes off , which is going to be probably about safety and using your laptop etc. Things change so quickly and this blasted AI is not what I want or need and do hope to find out how to block it and keep my own things private. Well we shall see.

Well depending on the weather and how I get on there, I may be on my yellow peril if dry enough, and it will give me chance to have a little meander along the high street and just see if there are any great sales, bargains or whatever and then call in to Cafe Nero for a coffee, before coming back and then have some lovely shin beef that I plan to make into a beautiful stew for tomorrow. Fingers crossed , I have someone coming to put up the new curtain rail tomorrow, so again today I need to do a bit of hunting to see if I can find the thicker gold curtains from the old house which should fit fine and will be warmer for the winter. So as I shall be getting the present ones down, it will be a case of hopefully putting up the gold ones and being able to wash these and put them away for next summer, or if I dont succeed in finding them in time these will have to go up again. Anyway whatever goes up there it will look much better without drooping down curtains and being afraid to pull their string hard in case the lot falls down!! So plenty to do today, before going to the games night tonight, and see what they have in store there to play. Hopefully something I have at least played once. Well just looked out and the sky is clearing slightly, enough to see the outline of the tree. It looks very still but dry, so hopefully will get the washing dry. How much of the plans come to fruition I do not know but the laptop sorting is top priority with the washing getting dry.

Well done Mick for sorting out your phone etc and hope the engineer comes early so that you can go off to Bicester as usual. GrandMattie, hope all the baking goes well and that the physio can at least be able to give you some tips if you describe what the pain was like. You do so much baking, do you have a n mixing machine, or could it be that you are working hard, beating eggs and all the ingredients so that it is a sort of repetitive muscle injury? Just a thought, or do you find yourself waking up in the same position every day , where you can have put that shoulder under a strain? Anyway hope the fetes go well and no doubt you will sell everything very quickly. RoseandLilac you got a good bargain at the right time for you with your dryer. Well done. Sounds as though you have a sorting out day planned too. I think that when you are in the right mood you get so much more sorted than when you are reluctant to start and I then can be thinking where can I put this? I have to make the most of this feeling , which I always think is connected to having been a teacher and that this is the start of the year, so it is autumn cleaning rather than spring cleaning. Sounds like a lot of us are having a bit of a sort out. How our halos will shine!! Hoping everyone has a positive day and can look back this evening at something accomplished , whether a cupboard sorted or a letter written, but if it is dry hope you can all get outside and enjoy a little fresh air whilst it is not too freezing.

Good morning from s somerset, sunny today

Its amazing how warm and cosy I was yesterday, wearing layers and topped off with a soft hand made woollen jumper. I did not need any added heat into my house

Today I feel like making an almond cake and swapping the last bits of winter clothing into handy drawers. I`ll be refreshing my memory about the garments I have made

I want to get my jumper board out and will have a practice with the finished gansey, before I wash it. The jumper board, from Scotland, is for blocking

I sorted my freezer and put 4kg of einkorn in, it will preserve it through winter. I am about to re-vitalise my expertise with sourdough, starting again but this time I will experiment with the sd settings on my panasonic, using my own starter. It should work, I gave all my bannetons away and cannot be handling a very hot and heavy cast-iron dutch oven. Those days are over

Have a good day

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 28-Oct-25 06:20:01

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. It’s dark and I’m still in bed. I was so tired last night I went to bed at 9 pm.

Today is a stay at home day. I usually meet friends on a Tuesday afternoon but one or two are unwell. Granddaughter has gone back to Kew. So I’ll do the laundry which has piled up and maybe some baking.

It was good to hear there was encouraging news for the FGT2S yesterday.

Have a good day everyone.

Grandmabatty Tue 28-Oct-25 06:11:30

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 9° and damp. It's been raining most of the night. Roses a good bargain!
Yesterday, despite a very dodgy leg, I achieved a fair amount. Dropped off the boys at school and emptied and loaded the dishwasher and ran it. Hoovered too. I carved a pumpkin for the boys and they were very happy when they saw it. Dgs1 didn't have a good day at school as he was over excited to see friends again and misbehaved. Needless to say, grandma was not pleased with him and I made him write a letter of apology to his teacher. I was unable to get through to the doctor's surgery to make an appointment which was annoying.
Today I have an appointment with the lawyer to sign over the title deeds of mum's flat to my brother. I'll be glad to get it done. At the moment, I'm jointly responsible for it although my brother lives there. He's not the easiest person to deal with. Later I have an appointment for a flu jab which coincides with the school pick up. I'm hoping if I go early, they'll take me. Have a good day all.

Bellasnana Tue 28-Oct-25 05:59:34

Good morning from Malta where it is to be a windy day with a high of 24°C.

Yesterday was windy as well so I also managed to dry all the washing outdoors.

I was quite busy after driving my friend to the airport. Lots of cleaning and laundry done. Then a lovely surprise visit from the boys and DD3 after school really brightened my day. If only they knew what joy they bring.

Today I shall tackle the ironing and hope the plumber will come to replace the mixer tap in my en-suite which is wobbling about as the bit that fixed it to the basin has rusted away completely.

That was a bit of luck finding a bargain, Roses!

Wishing you all a good day.☀️

cornergran Tue 28-Oct-25 05:47:44

Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset looks damp and draughty, can hear the wind.

Awake at silly o’clock I’m both bored and fretting about a family situation. Don’t dare move too much or I’ll wake Mr C who will be grumpy without his sleep ration.

The installation yesterday had its moments but all seemed well last night. Still changing wifi passwords. The security camera definitely doesn’t want to play nicely. I’ll tackle it again morning. Hope BT arrive to time for you mick

Grocery delivery this morning, a need to finish bits from yesterday and if time before lunch some dust removal. This afternoon we’ll head out to get the items we forgot on Saturday (if we remember grin), enjoy a cuppa and I suspect share a piece of cake.

Good to read mr fgt is well enough for more treatment, sending love and strength to them both.

Hope Tuesday is kind to us all.

RosesandLilac Tue 28-Oct-25 05:38:33

Good morning, it’s raining here on the hillside in south Glos, I’ve been awake for several hours but just had a quick look out of the window. I’m actually quite happy browsing on my iPad with a coffee while cosy in bed 😊
Yesterday I took tiddler out before heading for the school garden, it was a lovely morning even if the wind was cold. I spent an hour cutting back the lavender bushes in the school garden, the school chickens were scratching around my feet enjoying being outside their run.
I also did some seed collecting, I have been delegated some indoors jobs for the bad weather, there’s a big shed so I’ll stay dry, and I will take a flask of coffee with me and enjoy my time there.
My tumble dryer is dying, it’s been making a strange noise for a while and definitely isn’t drying well. As it’s well over 10 years old I started looking for a new one when I saw that there’s a nearly new one being sold in the village! The owners are being posted (Army) so I’ve snapped it up and DH will collect it this morning 👏
Ocado shop later, food prices are getting ridiculous now 🙁
I really need to use more of the tins that I have in the cupboard.
I need to give the utility room a darn good clear out today, it’s a dumping ground for DH so while he’s collecting the tumble dryer I’ll take all his stuff down to his shed 😁 and have a good sort out.
I fancy beef burgers and the trimmings for dinner, something different, perhaps with a salad.
Best wishes to you all 🌹
