Good morning all, from the overcast West midlands.
A blustery autumn day here today. I've been out in the garden pulling-up the remnants of the baby sweetcorn. It was a complete
"Disaster darling!" In the words of Mr Revel-Horwood!
The variety was called "Sugar sweet." A complete misnomer as it was unbearably earthy & bitter. I took one bite of the tempting little golden beauty & promptly spat-it out like a projectile weapon. Which, of course scared the poor (scissy!) dog! She must have been scared as she didn't try to wolf-it-down as per-normal!
Have a happy & peaceful everyone.

Good morning everyone from cloudy with sunny intervals Lancashire.

MrB and I have been for our morning walk around the Dock. It’s quite breezy but not too cold. Good to see a bit of sunshine. I had a rather uneasy night, no idea why and feeling much better now after the fresh air.

MrB is taking a leaf out of JaxJacky’s DH’s book and making sausage, mash and beans for tea tonight. We have a tub of sweets ready for any trick&treaters, though we don’t get many living so near the water.

Glad your phone is sorted Mick, it took a few visits to get ours working but we don’t really use it much now.

Glad you escaped from the larder Karma.

Gorgeous cake and cookies Bellasnana.

Love the makeup Jax grin.

Marydoll if there’s a standoff between Babydoll and her papa I wonder who would blink first?

Thinking of our poorly grans and those with troubles.

Wishing you all a good day, whatever you’re doing 🦩🦩🦩

Phew, International Rescue stood down Karmalady 🚁

Laughing loud at this grin

The weather is rough, dull sky, wet and very windy. Laughing is good and I too laughed at the Marydoll red cord incident. Rushing out while pulling drawers up grin

Good Morning all from a dark wet Co Armagh, last nights storm is over , but the rain might make up this months deficit !
Daughter and Granddaughter due this afternoon, tidying will happen reluctantly! 5mins after they arrive it will be like a whirlwind has hit
But we wouldn’t have it any other way !!
Make the most of the day xx

Good morning all. Sunshine, no rain but a very .chilly wind in Glasgow this morning.

Thankfully the rain stayed off for my hairdressing appointment which was later in the day this week. On my way back to the car I passed a fish and chip shop and suddenly felt hungry. No need to cook, I devoured a fish supper which just hit the spot. A rare treat. Not much planned for today, I may go,to our local small M&S food hall for a few bits and some fresh flowers. Underground car park should the heavens open as predicted.

Hoping your DD recovers quickly Grammaretto from a fellow sufferer of a slipped disc. The pain is horrendous.

Best wishes to all for a pleasant Friday.

In the disabled loo, she spotted the red emergency cord. I don't think I have moved as fast in years!

Another chuckle for me thanks Marydoll!
You lovely lot can be very droll at times. 😁

👋 to you WhiteSwan63 nice to have you join us!

Good morning from a brightening northwest coast. A busy day yesterday with DD. We bought curtains, lamps, rugs etc. for the newly decorated spare bedroom which was enjoyable and had a nice lunch out. There was a problem with the curtain pole, but DD sorted it by utilising the old one.
Then a quiet evening agog watching the news of Andrew’s downfall😳

Off to art (reluctantly) soon and DD out tonight. I’m glad I have no plans.
Welcome WhiteSwan63 and thoughts to all🌺

Oh Marydoll I think our husbands are twins 😹😹😹. Including refusing to admit they are hard of hearing (deaf) and stubborn when asking for help with technology 🤷‍♀️

Our GD (now 8) was similarly strong willed at that age

GrannySomerset Fri 31-Oct-25 08:58:32

Less chilly this morning and we still haven’t had much wind so most of the local trees still have their leaves in a huge variety of shades - really lovely and a joy to see.

Oldies’ coffee morning and bridge this afternoon; don’t seem to be getting much better at the bridge and suspect I may have reached the peak of my incompetence but I live in hopes. I rather fancied being one of those terrifying old ladies who dominate the card table but guess it’s yet another thing for which I have only limited talent. Meanwhile must make sure I have suitable sweets for the Hallowe’en callers later on.

grandMattie Fri 31-Oct-25 08:43:14

I have been enjoying the wonderful colours this autumn is giving us. I especially love our little avenue where most of the trees are Liquidambar. Instead of being uniformly scarlet, some vary by going from green and buttercup yellow to khaki, burgundy and red. Glorious!

“If I am not on here tomorrow, I will still be kneeling on the floor with my head well and truly stuck in the gap”

That’s my laugh-out-loud 😂 for today Karma, thank you!

Mine too Pantglas!
Keep your phone close by karma! 😁

Oh Marydoll my two eldest grandsons were like Babydoll. 28 and 26 years later things are relatively calm 😂

This is what hapoens, when you leave papa in charge.
She refused to come out from under the dome.

Good morning everyone from a cloudy and damp Northampton; I have a day in, as there are no dance classes today so, apart from making a chicken curry for the slow cooker, I am going to be lazy and spend the day knitting and reading.

Ended up having to walk to my hair appointment yesterday; no buses into the village as roadworks had closed the road. The annoying thing was that when I got to the roadworks there were no workmen or any sign of anything like work going on!
Luckily I had given myself enough time for the 2 mile walk, and was glad of a sit-down and coffee when I got there.
Was relieved to find I could get a bus back home, but it went on a lengthy detour around the village to avoid the roadworks. Anyone who didn't know the area would have been mightily worried about the route!

Gave into temptation yesterday and ordered a pair of blue denim-coloured leather walking shoes that caught my eye when I just happened to look at the Pavers catalogue.... I just kept going back to look at them again.... They will do nicely for my touring holiday in Spain next spring. I am so pleased with the green leather shoes I got from them last month.

Bellasnana, what a talented daughter you have! Those cakes are fabulous!

Wishing all a pleasant day.

WhiteSwan63 Fri 31-Oct-25 08:25:42

Thankyou for your lovely welcome messages. I have posted only once or twice but read regularly. I post a little on the gentler forums. I feel I know you all x

Grandmabatty Fri 31-Oct-25 08:21:50

Karma I'm glad to hear that the larder has released you from its clutches!

Grammaretto Fri 31-Oct-25 08:10:42

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Nice day forecast.

After breakfast I shall drive up to the Highlands to stay with DD . It's
supposed to be a rescue mission as
she's in terrible pain with a sore
back/slipped disc and can't drive. I
shall either take her to the osteopath
in Perth or be home for the DGC
when the school bus arrives. The
children have a Halloween disco at
the village hall. Does that mean I need to go in costume? I think I'm
scary enough....

It's nice to see new people here WhiteSwan smile

Those biscuits look so professional Bellasnanna

I hope you escape from the larder Karma . Look forward to episode 2...

Have the best day you can everyone. Thinking of the poorly ones.

karmalady Fri 31-Oct-25 08:08:20

I have fixed my pull-out larder and have released myself. It pulls out now, problem was caused by thick black gunky grease in the runners. I cleared that and sprayed with silicone

I do need to swap out some beautiful glass alessi jars, too heavy and have ordered oxo pop, lightweight and easier to use. Oh well, I am hoping my DDs have the alessi. The pops are arriving tomorrow so I have put almost everything back in but taken some cans out to store in my garage, the weight was not helping

All in all I am feeling relieved

Marydoll Fri 31-Oct-25 08:07:16

Good morning from Glasgow, where it is 12°C, much better than yesterday, when DH had to scrape the ice from the car.

Welcome, White Swan.

Bellasnanna, your DD is very talented.

Yesterday, we did visit the garden centre, where Babydoll was mesmerised by the Christmas displays.
Unfortunately she hit her face off the edge of a table in the cafè and I had to use my can of San Pellegrino as an ice pack. I was looking forward to it, but I prefer it ice cold, not at face temperature warm.😉
Off I went to the loo, followed by my shadow, who would not let me out of her sight all day.
In the disabled loo, she spotted the red emergency cord. I don't think I have moved as fast in years!

The day did not end well, when she refused to go home. I went out and climbed in the back seat, to find a very frustrated and worked up DH.
BabyD was sitting in the middle of the back seat, refusing to sit in her own seat, holding the seat belt and having a full blown meltdown, She wanted to sit like a big girl, beside Ga Ga.
DH did not handle it well. He was a very strict father and believes if you tell a child do something, they should. More subtle and canny methods are best when dealing with BabyD.
My years of experience tell me that there are elements of the autistic spectrum in her make up.
Those thoughts, I shall keep to myself.
DH won't admit, that his ways don't work, I found it all very upsetting. Suddenly, she suddenly stopped screaming and climbed into her own seat, telling me that Papa had to go on the naughty step!! He was not amused.

Grandmabatty, good luck with your appointment today.
Hoping for more positive news, regarding our poorlies.

Enjoy your day folks.

harrigran Fri 31-Oct-25 08:05:25

Good morning from a grey but dry NE, feels a little milder this morning.
DD was in touch to tell me more about the damage to her floor, as well as the water damage there was mould everywhere. To look at you would think the property had been empty for a long time. They had just been away for 13 days.
A friend from where I used to live in Cumbria, rang yesterday and we chatted for over an hour. She has a damp and mould problem in her flat and it has caused medical problems. She is waiting for an operation on the inside of her skull, damage caused by mould spores.
Yesterday I rang the GP surgery in an attempt to make an appointment, I was successful in getting one at a time that suited me. I have been trying nearly every day for two months without success.
Today will be a quiet one, some reading and TV later in the day.
Love the photos of cakes and biscuits Bellasnana, very talented DD.
Have a good day everyone.

ginny Fri 31-Oct-25 08:02:25

Good morning from N. Bucks.
After a busy and very enjoyable day with our friends yesterday we have no part plans today. DH has a small plumbing job to do. I shall make some soup, maybe some baking and then some crafting.
Wishing all a good day.

Good morning all from a wet Black country.
Arrived back yesterday after a few lovely days in Barmouth with the family, weather stayed dry with a few outbreaks of sun.
DiL managed a couple of swims in the sea it's her way of relaxing, I'll stick to wine and a book, the boys went crabbing for the first time with grandad thoroughly enjoyed it.
Think we may go over to the club later see what friends are doing.
Well will now catch up with everybody's happenings over the last few days.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find a little bit of ☀️.

Ashcombe Fri 31-Oct-25 08:00:30

Good morning from a cloudy and breezy Torbay.

The inspection visit at the hospital yesterday was interesting especially as it happened to include the ward on which I was a patient in March! I was surprised to find there was a Day Room there which I had never been shown! The lunch provided was delicious.

In the evening I found myself running the rehearsal for It’s A Wonderful Life as the director was in A & E with her husband. The cast was grateful to have a rehearsal and some already know most of their lines although the play isn’t on until December.

What imaginative baking, Bellasnana!

Today is my DGD's 13th birthday for which we bought her second pair of pointe ballet shoes as she’s outgrown her first pair. She celebrated earlier this week as Hallowe’en events overshadow her birthday.

Welcome to WhiteSwan63!

Happy weekend to all! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning from soggy South Lanarkshire.

What a very talented DD you have Bella, her baking looks so delicious.

DH finished painting the kitchen yesterday, it looks much fresher. I planned to replace the Roman Blind however the bracket is flush with the ceiling and DH cannot for the life of him get it off the wall. I’m trying to figure out if I could get a new blind, take out the cords and use the existing ones to hang the blind. I don’t want to make an expensive mistake.

Halloween is a big thing around here but for the first time in about forty five years I’ve decided to go out. I’m sure kids get bussed in, there’s been hordes of them in recent years. I’ve made up bags for the children in our street and I’ll hand them in before we go out.

I hope everyone has as good a day as possible.
