Susan56 💐
Thank you GtannyGravy.
Susan56 sending you (((hugs))) You and your family have had more than your share of troubles 🌸
^when life gives you lemons, make lemonade^🍋🍋🍋
Thank you GrannySomerset and dragonfly and thank you Mick for this wonderfully supportive thread.
Oh Susan how sad - my heart goes out to you and your daughters.
Grannysomerset. I found a missing wedding ring in my washing up glove. Cold hands and warm water. It has done the same a few times now.
Life can be so cruel, Susan, your DDs are lucky to have your loving support. Coming at such a dark time of year makes it worse, somehow.
Have been to oldies’ coffee morning, now home and wondering if there is anywhere else my wedding ring could be hiding. I am becoming obsessed! Otherwise a domestic day awaits as the rain is continuous and daylight non-existent. November at its worst.
Thank you Grandmabatty
Susan I just returned from Aldi to see your post. Such sad news and a hard year for you and your family. I wish you all the best.
Thank you luluaugust.
Susan I am so sorry to read your further devastating news. Thinking of you and the family
Good morning from a very wet Shropshire.
We enjoyed the play Midsomer Murders, Badgers Drift last night.Barnaby was played by Daniel Casey who was Troy in the TV series.
A blood test this morning.
It has been a difficult few months for our family with my illness, DD1’s FIL being very ill and needing life support for a while and last week her MIL, my dear friend dying.Last night I got home to the devastating news that DD2’s FIL has widespread cancer.
Our job is to support the girls and help with the children when needed.I feel so sad for them and especially for our grandchildren.I have asked my brothers if they can help by visiting mum more but don’t hold out much hope.
I feel we are only given what we can cope with so on we go💪🏼
Wishing everyone the best day, hold those you love close and enjoy the little things🌻🦩
Good Morning from a dark and wet Co Armagh,,
I’m off to art class this am , it’s a nice relaxed session , more like a club than a class , but the tutor is so good at spotting when a word will help and when it’s better for me to struggle on and that way I feel better coming out
Of course the tea break and the chat are great for us who don’t get as much chat on other days
I hope those with struggles get help today
Good morning from a miserable, wet Durham. Not a good night as the trapped nerve that was improving, woke me at 4am - back to the painkillers.
Nice to catch up with my poorly friend yesterday - she’s dreading the possible new meds which are self-injected.
I must get to Tesco, with DD2 and DGS2 coming for the weekend - my fridge is bare.
A walk with Little Dog later, then going to have a quick look at some of the Lumiere
displays with a friend. We don’t have tickets, so not a late night.
Best wishes to all. X
What a delightful photo, MD.
Welcome to the newbies and lurkers. This is a delightfully friendly and kind thread. 🫂
A very belated Good morning Mick and all GN's from a wet but still North Yorkshire morning. It will not be a day for travelling on the yellow peril. Much too wet and slippery underfoot and with local flood warnings, it will be very much of a domestic day, with some early shopping from the supermarket and getting my local paper, taking care walking about. My back is being a real pain at the moment (come to think of it just lately when isnt it?!) I have struggled to get going but of course Bach and coffee have at least improved the morning so far. So will hope that I will be inspired to reduce the ironing mountain and carry on with the dresser work. Well at the moment sitting with the local paper and a cup of coffee has much more allure.
I have of course seen endless stuff about grand bargains on black friday, but hadnt even worked out that this is the actual day! Ah who knows I might get £10 off my shopping today!! As I do not actually need any major white goods or whatever, and probably would be shocked by what they think is a bargain price, I wont be queueing for the great bargains today.
Had quite a good day yesterday, in as I said a topsy turvey way. So I was showered and dressed - for me - in something quite smart, as I sallied forth to the womens group meeting in Barkers cafe. Hetty had done this quiz out for us, and they had reserved us a table but not where we usually are - another group of people were there, so we were on a long table near the window but one side was difficult to get round to, and I certainly couldnt have got round there, so we were a bit strung out. However we talked and sorted out about our plans for next week, dealing with the raffle, made plans for two options for our christmas meal, so that two members are going to check out a couple of options, so that again that can be fixed next week and there will be the yoga lady that day, so sounds as though we have a full ittenary for that meeting. Well I knew all 10 answers to the questions and was counted the winner, and was surprised and pleased to receive a bunch of yellow roses as a prize. Very pretty (but no perfume!) and so I trimmed off the ends of the stalks and put them in a vase to soak for that night and today they are looking very nice and will now arrange them and enjoy having something to see for a change. After the meeting it was really a quietish afternoon, but managed to get some more clean washed summer things all packed away to make space for warmer stuff in the wardrobe. In the next couple of weeks, if and when I have a mind to, I plan to look through all my winter clothes and as most of them are years old, check for any holes or buttons missing etc and then carefully check through my precious cashmere jumpers for any dreaded signs of moths or whatever and they will be my ways to keep warm in the weeks to come. But I want to steel myself to give away some decent quality jumpers, that I rarely wear and would keep someone else warm, and give me more space to have a tidy drawer where I can see what is there rather than having to plough through stuff all piled in and creased. Somehow had managed to not shut the freezer door properly and so another annoying but necessary effort was to get out all the shelves and deice the freezer, which was in great need of sorting, so at least now the door shuts, and I can actually see what is in what shelf! Did enjoy watching the Play for Today last night and it was quite good fun, so hope for similar next week, and see that Paul Copley is in it. He seems to be in lots of things at the moment.
Anyway at last something worth watching that is not a flipping competition. Do they think that the programmes are so boring in themselves that they have to make everything a race or a competition? If I am watching something, I would be more interested in how one person does something , compared to another way from someone else. Food programmes are all full of very expensive ingredients etc, whereas in the way things are at the moment, clever ideas for using cheaper cuts of meats and more vegetables would be healthier and help us to think of something new or not had for ages, for that daily grind of what shall we have for dinner! Not a lot of special pleasures from living alone , but as Jenny Joseph said in her poem Warning we can eat 3lbs of sausage if we want. Much more likely in my case to thing blow it and have some soup and a sandwich with no one to look surprised at the offering for dinner, and an occasional treat of a chinese meal means no washing up and something tasty.
Ah ha it is light enough to now see the grey squirrel scurrying along the top of the fence. Hasnt been around for a while and no sign of the regular pigeons that used to patrol my stretch of the garden .
Mick hope the fish and chips are up to standard and thanks for the black friday alert.GrandMattie glad you got your wallet back, and know how the worry and stress rises and rises until it is safely found. Hope you can now have a better day with it safely found. Karmalady, you should make good inroads into the sox knitting with the miserable forecast for today. Kalu sorry to hear of your sad news , those old friends are cherished and know us in a way that younger people can not. Aldom , hope for better results with the next mirror, and that you are settling down well in your new home.RoseandLilac hope that your ankles are easing off a bit. It is such a problem when you have to walk around , with no one else about to help. Kittylester can your Sky engineer fix the sky to some sunshine and less rain while he is with you? Grandmabatty good to know the stookie is less now and should make it a little easier dressing . I think dgs1 would enjoy some baking bread or plasticine bashing to have a chance to thump something and relieve pressure. Baking bread used to be one of my ways to deal with hassle and stress, and I ended up with a decent loaf at the end of it! I think I could make a good loaf today with the news of Trump etc!! However I shall just get myself going as it has now stopped actually raining. For how long I dont know so need to make the most of the lull in the weather.
Hope you all keep dry and well and have as good a day as possible
Morning from a wet S Hants after a sunny one yesterday, rain in the evening.
MrJ had fun putting the new quilt in its cover, it’s so lovely, the old one was definitely depleted of ‘bounce*.
Usual Friday, stretch class, Tesco delivery, pub this evening.
Morning Tuinoma 👋👋

Good morning all, it's only 3°C.
GM, I once left my purse on a shop on holiday and only realised when I got back to the hotel. I was frantic, because it contained my bank and debit card.
I now have trackers in my purse and on both my church and house keys. They have been worth their weight in gold.
Babydoll was in a great mood yesterday, she is now having conversations with us. However, she refused to nap and we were exhausted,
Torrential rain meant we could not go out, so we baked biscuits. She has decided she likes coconut and there was a trail throughout the house! It was everywhere.
She also decided to sample the mixture and managed to get it everywhere.
I filled the sink in the shower room and let her skiddle in the sink. To allow me to tidy up the carnage, I asked Papa to keep an eye on her.
He failed miserably. She had to be stripped down to her nappy, she was soaked to the skin!
Before I started baking, I ran to the surgery to pick up prescriptions. The journey was horrendous, with torrential rain, flooded roads and massive traffic jams.
The same happened last night, when we took her home, even worse because it was pitch black. I could tell DH was becoming very anxious.
As usual there were prescriptions missing, including one for the new medication. I politely explained that I had ordered them on Monday, so they should have been ready.
The most important one, the CD was missing. I explained I knew it had been done on Wednesday, because I spoke to someone about it being universally unavailable for months.
The receptionist kindly went through about 100, unsigned prescriptions and found it at the bottom of the pile, The next thing, one of the female GPSs, who has even so kind to me, appeared to sign it,
I apologised for causing a fuss.
The receptionist looked at the GP and said, Not at all. She has been lovely, I wish all our patients were like that.
That made my day. However, I still do not have the hospital one!
Today, we are off out on a jolly with DD and SIL. We are going to a well known Chinese restaurant on the South Side.
We shall take the train and they will also take the train, but on a different line and will meet us there.
I am so looking forward to it.
Usually, we walk over the field, but it is flooded and I can only walk a short distance now.
It will be the bus or an Uber to the station. I am so looking forward to it, but am restricted on what I can eat. 😪
Welcome to Tuinoma.
My condolences, Kalu.
Best wishes to all our poorlies and hoping for some positive news from Dragonfly.
👋Tuinoma from another ‘lurker’ in Co Durham
Hollysteers I must have missed that you had food poisoning. How horrible for you. I've had it once badly and don't ever want that experience again. I hope you feel better today
Good morning from a damp looking Torbay.
A poor night's sleep for us as a police car chase with sirens and flashing lights ended with a car crashing into the wall of a Care Home on the far side of the park from us at 4.30 am! Four large police cars were involved and it took nearly two hours for them to disperse and the crashed car to be loaded on to a break down truck.
I’m glad your wallet was found, grandMattie!
Condolences to kalu and your DD.
Constant pain is so debilitating, RosesandLilac. Not wishing to sound flippant but I find alcohol works better than any painkillers.
Welcome to Tuinoma!
Have a good weekend, everyone! 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩
Good morning from a very wet and grey Suffolk which is forecast to last all day. What a contrast with yesterday when the sun was so bright I had to wear my sunglasses when driving to the theatre to see the film.
Given the weather I have no plans for today and shall enjoy a peaceful day reading and sorting out the smallest spare bedroom which has become a dumping ground for anything which doesn’t have a home.
Hope you enjoy Six Gingster and your modified plans work well. Thinking of those with ill health or caring responsibilities or coping with sad news about others.
