Another good afternooner here.
Lots of unforeseen things happening this morning so i decided to leave everything behind and took myself off for a 3hr dogwalk. A bit tired now and bl internet keeps going off so trying to sort router connection as it is affecting the heatpump programming...I.e. no heating at the moment. I might just leave it and go back to my lovely woodburner..
Gardener handyman came this am as my garden is on a slope and one of the retaining walls is drifting south so some serious underpinning is in order. I have visions of the house drifting south with it! He's such a lovely chap and we set the world to rights before he left. We had moles over the summer and it's their network of tunnels which is the most likely culprit. Next year i really have to persuade and divert them into the fields arounds us as they will come again.
I've put off sorting the router and the heating long enough now so will force myself to get going with that.
Took me a good hour but i managed to get the Internet working again and so can finally post...hopefully as I tried several times before angry

Very late for me, so wishing everyone a Good Afternoon.
Flowers for so many GNs today - life is tough.

I was up and out early to show my rental house to prospective purchasers. They seem keen, so fingers crossed.
Just waiting for DD2 and DGS2 to arrive for the weekend. Her DH is away, so staying here makes things easier for her.

Best wishes to all. X

Late again but have been to the surgery to collect my prescription and to the garage to fill up the car so not a totally wasted morning. Nothing planned for the rest of the weekend, not even a church service, so a lot of reading.

EkwaNimitee Sat 15-Nov-25 10:50:20

Hello…I wrote a longer post earlier on but the site went down before I could send. I’ve just returned from town and will just wish you all a good day and best wishes to all of you with troubles.

Grandmabatty Sat 15-Nov-25 10:32:22

Marydoll a fabulous photo! I can agree with your dh, it is bitterly cold out. Kalu it's a bugger when painkillers don't touch the pain. My sympathy.
Visit to Tesco was successful. Home just as the washing finished so it's drying now. Dishwasher is on and I'm having a cuppa with a scone before I clean the bathroom.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 15-Nov-25 10:22:29

Wow! Marydoll looking seriously stylish 👍

Good morning everyone from a damp and mild (ish) mid Essex. I wasn’t able to get on to Gransnet earlier, not sure why not, so I’m a bit late. Hope today is a bit drier than yesterday!
Didn’t do much yesterday, but did go to lunchtime bingo and won twice.
Will do the ironing today and other domestic stuff.
susan really tough times for you and your family, I’m so sorry that you’re going through such a difficult time.
bellasnana I hope your goddaughter’s DH makes a swift recovery.
Thinking of all who are climbing mountains today.
Have as good a day as is possible and hopefully we will all see some sunshine today. (In some form or other!)

Kalu Sat 15-Nov-25 09:49:42

Good morning all. Finally, a dry day so far, low clouds breaking to reveal blue skies here in Glasgow.

Although it was bitterly cold yesterday I was hoping to spend some time in the garden but regardless of the various lotions and potions of pain relief that have worked so well recently, he pain was relentless yesterday and today has started as a repeat of the same. I’m just fed up and frustrated determined to soldier on and getting nowhere. Sorry for the moan, I do realise there are others with so much worse to cope with.

Poor man Bellasnana
baubles a salt gargle with soothe your ‘razor’ throat. I hope your symptoms clear up quickly.
Susan 🌹

Best wishes to all for a good day and one of less struggles for those soldering on.

Good morning everyone from a very grey and misty Northampton; rain expected all day again, but hopefully lighter than yesterday, when it didn't let up all day.

My wine evening went well on Thursday, and I think everyone enjoyed themselves and enjoyed my choice of wine and food. DD was a great help as usual, especially in her stylish arrangement of food on serving plates, which I am rubbish at.
Yesterday was spent clearing and tidying up - thank goodness for the dishwasher! DD had stayed overnight, so it was nice to have a bit of company yesterday morning.

A late breakfast this morning of bacon butties. then I am out to the hairdressers to glam up a bit for DGD1's 18th birthday party tonight. They have booked a room and bar on the university campus, about 70 people expected. DD and her DH are coming here to get ready then we are being picked up by mini-bus/large taxi to go to the venue. DD has already cast her eye over my three possible outfits for the evening and given her verdict!

Will go back now and catch up with the posts - wishing all a pleasant day.

Bellasnana Sat 15-Nov-25 09:32:36

Thank you all for your well wishes for my Goddaughter’s husband. He is to have another scan today to check the bleeding on his brain. If he needs surgery he will be transferred to another hospital but they are hoping it won’t be necessary.
Their little girl is only 5 and quite upset to have her Daddy back in hospital. He has been very unlucky poor man.😞

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 15-Nov-25 09:25:00

Morning all from a sunny Kew. A lovely contrast to yesterday’s Storm Claudia!

I’m taking granddaughter to the V&A later. I’ve been taking her there since she was small.

Why are other people’s showers so complicated? At home mine simply has a button. Elder son’s is a nightmare. First world problem

Have a good day everyone, especially those of you with problems.

Marydoll Sat 15-Nov-25 09:22:36

God morning all from Glasgow, where it 6°C, DH says it is bitterly cold outside.
It was the same yesterday, my joints protested badly. My fingers wouldn't work.

Such sad news this morning from our Grans. I can never understand why some people have so much pain and sorrow and others apparently sail through life.
Susan, you have had a dreadful time of it recently. 💕

Yesterday, I had one of the happiest days for a long time. DD was worried that I would not be well enough to go out with her and SIL. She hadn't reckoned on my determination.
My careful planning paid off.
We got to the end of the road, just as the bus arrived and we got off right at the station entrance.
DD messaged to say my phone was needing charged (she tracks me, due to recent episodes) , so I was praying for one of the more modern trains with a charging point. I managed to partly charge it on the train, so panic over.

There was no sign of DD, when we got off and having spotted a Morrisons, I trotted off to find a loo. Another panic over!
I came out to find DD, who had the same problem!!
I didn't want to drag my family in and out of charity shops ( there were many), but SIL insisted, saying that it was my treat and to go where I wanted.

I had a great time, charity shops, world food shops, interspersed with a delicious Chinese lunch, courtesy of my children and for DH, comfort breaks sampling craft beers. I haven't been that area of Glasgow for at least thirty years!
We returned home via DD's Village, where we had supper and a game of pool. I haven't played in over thirty years, but beat DD. She was raging.🤣
The only flight in the ointment was there were no seats on the train. The disability seats were all occupied by teenagers on their phones, who refused to make eye contact and offer a seat.
A young man across from them put them to shame, by getting up and offering me his seat.

We came out of the pub, just as the bus arrived ( they are quite unreliable) and the driver cheekily asked if we wanted dropped off at the nursing home!
He kindly asked where we stayed and dropped us off right at the end of the road. A walk home saved!

As usual, I paid the price, I haven't slept much, my pain levels have been very high, but it was such a lovely day, with much laughter and joy.

I hadn't looked at my phone until late last night and realised the draft Parish bulletin was full of errors. The young man, who compiled it, is away for the weekend and can't change it. I have been frantically trying to stop the P.P printing it and causing chaos. I would be better writing it myself, but don't want any more responsibilities.
A poster is also required for our fundraiser, family Hogmmaay party, so that also needs to be done today.

I wish you all a pleasant Saturday and as always, I keeping the poorlies in my thoughts and prayers. ♥️

Good morning from a wet northwest coast. I’m feeling better after my upset stomach episode and managed art group yesterday. My artwork is sometimes better when I’m preoccupied with something else and don’t overthink. Still working on music for the next concerts and was disappointed to find I can’t join flying DD to the Maldives as a cling on as it clashes with one of the concerts.
Spent a cosy night in last night with cat on lap, wind and rain outside and a Henry James adaptation on the telly.

Tonight to an Agatha Christie play at our local theatre.
Thoughts to Bellasnana and all🌺
.

Good morning and it is a good sunny morning here by the sea in West Sussex, so a good washing day and time to plant more tulips. Brother in law having second cataract op today. Amazing service with the NHS as he only had the first one a month ago. He’s in Kent. Enjoy your weekend everyone. Despite being retired I do ensure I do something different somehow on the weekend.

kittylester Sat 15-Nov-25 09:09:39

Good morning all from a dry but grey North Leicestershire.

We had torrential rain all day yesterday and, apparently, two main roads out of the village have fallen trees on them. Our local town has a annual street fair which was cancelled last night - first time i can remember in the almost 50 years we have lived here.

Today, we will be trying to reconnect all the 'smart' stuff to our new full fibre Internet. I didn't realise how much we had.

Hoping everyone has the best day possible.

Good morning a damp NE.
DS told me last week that it would probably just be him visiting today, I have had a message to say that GD1 is home, reading week. So two of them this afternoon, GD2 is at an ice skating party this afternoon and will come with her mum afterwards.
What a shock Bellasnana, my best wishes for his recovery.

dragonfly46 Sat 15-Nov-25 09:02:58

So sorry to hear about your goddaughter’s husband Bellasnana I hope you have better news today.

Gingster Sat 15-Nov-25 08:53:04

Good morning all and it isn’t raining . 🥳

Yesterdays altered plans worked in the end. The musical ‘Six’ was brilliant and the girls lived it.

Today ds2 is coming to take Dh to footie and have a meal with us. We don’t see him as much as the others and he’s lively to spend time with.

Hope your goddaughters husband recovers well, Bella.
Nice ton’see’ you Sar. Hav3xa lovely day.

Keep warm and dry. Woodburner will be lit. 🔥

Good morning from a dull but so far dry Suffolk after torrential rain yesterday. The 2 dog walks were each less than 2 minutes as she hates rain.

We had phone calls from our children in the evening to check we were ok…how our roles have changed over the last few years.

Today will be another quiet day at home with our weekly delivery this afternoon.

I hope that those with worries about others ill health have some reassuring news today and all have a good day.

Jaxjacky Sat 15-Nov-25 08:48:11

Morning all from a bright S Hants, site was down for a while earlier, hence my late posting.
Yesterday was wet, not as bad as many others though, after stretch class Tesco soon delivered with everything on my order. Pub was busy last night, I had a catch up with friends, then home, MrJ was at bowls.
Today my wax generating ears are being checked and probably suctioned out, it’s an expensive outing, oh for the days when a surgery nurse did it.
Susan56 too much sad news.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 6° and dry. Baubles check it isn't covid. It's had a resurgence. Bellasnana poor man. Your goddaughter must be beside herself.
I've just managed to get onto gransnet. It kept cutting out. Yesterday I did some washing and went to Aldi for food, picking up more Christmas bits and pieces. Lots of resting my leg after the busy week with the boys. Dgs2s birthday present was delivered. Last night wasn't a great night's sleep again.
Today I'm heading to Tesco to buy a few birthday presents. Ds and dgs2 have birthdays this coming week. I'd prefer to use individual shops but the town centre pavements are very uneven and I can get what I need at Tesco. Bed stripping day and I'll get it washed and dried. The bathroom will be cleaned too. So a pottering sort of day. Have a good day all.

ginny Sat 15-Nov-25 08:43:05

Good morning. Quick post from a murky N. Bucks. G/net seems to have been down for a while.
Busy day today. A local food shop and then 4 yr old DGS will arrive . He’ll keep us amused for the day. His brother will join us after he has been with friends to watch Northampton Saints rugby match. Both will stay overnight.
Wishing all a good day with a smile along the way.

NannyJan53 Sat 15-Nov-25 08:41:24

Good morning from another dull and rainy Black Country, where the rain never stopped all day yesterday.

Took car for MOT yesterday morning, so walked in the rain to a Wetherspoons for coffee whilst I waited. Luckily it passed, but I had only done 1700 miles since the last MOT.

When I arrived home at 10.30 the new Freezer had been delivered. The manual had to be accessed by scanning the QR code.

No real plans today as I am still suffering with this cold.

So sorry to hear about your goddaughters husband Bellas I can imagine how upset she is. Hope he makes a full recovery.

Wishing you all the best day possible.
