Septimia it sounds very similar- DH was suspiciously because the writing style was wrong for our friend! I don’t think he got kisses though- that would definitely have alerted him swiftly!
I had a very similar one from an acquaintance whose email had clearly been hacked. In my case the supposed sender couldn't talk on the phone because of tonsilitis. I was suspicious of the email because it wasn't written in her style and ended with kisses, which were definitely not her normal practice!
My husband had an email appearing to be from an elderly friend trying unsuccessfully to buy an Airbnb gift card for a friend’s birthday. It said he could not phone due to a very sore throat! DH was suspicious so phoned the friend only to discover he was well. It was a scam to get people to pay urgently for a gift card via Amazon. The email came from a btinternet email. Just be aware!
