Good morning to all the night owls
I m late waking this morning and seem to have missed my
3 am slot however 4.30 am will do ( 4 and a half hours is positively a very long sleep for me) who knows I might even drop of again for a doze before I get up at 6 ready for some work
So who s around ?

Grandmabatty Fri 26-Dec-25 14:00:21

I slept for fours hours, got up for the loo, then slept for three more hours. The best sleep I've had for ages.

JamesandJon33 Fri 26-Dec-25 12:50:46

I had a terrible night. Woke up at 12, very thirsty and a suggestion of cystitis. Then got up every hour to drink water… which resulted in 5 bathroom trips. Finally went to sled at six only for DH to wake me at half past with tea.

NanKate Fri 26-Dec-25 08:05:19

I gave in last night and took a tablet with codeine in it. Woke 3 times but after a loo visit went back to sleep.

BlueBelle Fri 26-Dec-25 06:26:08

Have a happy or quiet or peaceful Boxing Day everyone

HelterSkelter1 Fri 26-Dec-25 06:02:12

Awake at 4.00 but not a bad night and will get up now and brave the cold kitchen.

We are able to heat upstairs and downstairs separately with 2 wall thermostats. I never realised how useful that would be when in my 30s. The heating is on 24/7 upstairs in winter for emphysema suffering DH.

Hope everyone had as good a Christmas Day as possible.

grandMattie Fri 26-Dec-25 05:14:07

Hi. About to get my first drink. Am at DD’s and things are different here. Going home later, so I can get back to my own things.
The wind is fiercely cold although just above freezing. Are we going to have a hard winter, I wonder.
Hope everyone had the day they wished for yesterday.

cornergran Fri 26-Dec-25 05:11:07

I’m envious of that hot chocolate. Not the same I know but your Tassimo triggered nostalgic memories of having a Teasmaid in the bedroom. No need now, our bedroom is half a dozen steps from the kitchen.

Agree with you about the wind. It’s what a friend calls a lazy wind, straight through people rather than going round. We’re due to go for a walk on the sea front this morning. I’ll be donning the long coat which kept me warm in frozen Norway. More memories, this time of a wonderful trip, crisp snow, sunshine, pretty windows with lamps shining out. Isn’t it strange how things bubble to the fore? Oh well, I’m off back to my book.

RosesandLilac Fri 26-Dec-25 04:12:46

I hope you all had a lovely day yesterday, ours was very quiet but nice.
As per usual I have no idea why I’ve been awake for an hour, perhaps it was eating Stilton cheese for a snack last evening?
I’m so glad I have a Tassimo in my bedroom, I can make a hot drink without disturbing anyone or the dogs, I’m having a hot chocolate at the moment.
Looking forward to a long dog walk this morning, wrapping up warmly because the easterly winds are bitter and we’re high up here in south Glos, actually higher than Brecon apparently.

cornergran Fri 26-Dec-25 04:11:46

After two reasonable nights I’ve slept for just over two hours and now been awake for two hours. It’s been a different if overall good enough Christmas here, nothing to stop me sleeping. Hope everyone else is fast asleep and has a decent Boxing Day.

Aveline Thu 25-Dec-25 08:42:01

Happy Christmas all. I'd hoped for a decent night's sleep but no luck. Wide awake and up at 12.30, 4.15 then 5.50. Feeling tired and hungover despite zero alcohol. Maybe a good shower and some coffee will perk me up a bit.
Have a good day everyone.

JamesandJon33 Thu 25-Dec-25 05:52:48

Happy Christmas everyone.
Tired yesterday so we were all in bed by nine. I slept until 12 then was awake until 3.. Just woken up from second sleep
My mind is full of when to put the turkey in, etc. I know it will fine but….

grandMattie Thu 25-Dec-25 05:52:47

Happy Christmas 🎄 everyone. I’m “late” as I’m at DD’s and didn’t have Wi-Fi .
I hope today is joyful and peaceful for you all.

Shirleyw Thu 25-Dec-25 05:39:38

Good morning and a merry Christmas, hope you all have a lovely day 🎅🏻

Nannytopsy Thu 25-Dec-25 05:09:48

Morning! I have been awake since about 4.15, and now my mind is full of things that need doing! There is a huge pile of presents downstairs (including a tinsel wrapped bike with stabilisers) and we await the “has he been?” call from the small people.
Hope I can get another hour.
Happy Christmas to you all.

BlueBelle Thu 25-Dec-25 05:07:59

Happy Christmas to you all
Funny old night I can hear the wind whistling and a lot of boards creeping in the house joined onto mine it always sounds as if someone’s in my house when they are moving around, although these old Victorian houses have very solid walls and I don’t hear any noise from them at all, really just the creaking floorboards, maybe they are joined in old semi s I don’t know
I hope you’re day lives up to your expectations whether on your own or with family and have a peaceful time
Xx

Allsorts Thu 25-Dec-25 04:48:09

Happy Christmas everyone. I woke at 3 am. Do hope I will not be dropping off to sleep in front of my family.

TerriBull Thu 25-Dec-25 04:17:53

Happy Christmas to all the poor sleepers on this thread. As you can read, I'm awake. I suppose 4.15 isn't too bad

JamesandJon33 Wed 24-Dec-25 06:47:42

Late last evening DS phoned to say they were coming a day early. Food shopping had not accommodated that so brain in a whirl to organise two more meals with an additional four people. Plus I was going to use today as a cooking day. So awake a lot during the night. All sorted now I think but DH is up already laying the fire ( why?) . Anyway it will be lovely to have DS , my DiL and my 2 DGds here for an extra day.
Nadolig Llawen everyone. Sleep well tonight

Aveline Wed 24-Dec-25 06:25:15

Oh dear Charleygirl at least you gave the system a chance to practise.
I've been awake since 4.50. I thought I might drop off but no, my mind racing through everything I've got to do today which is absolutely nothing!

BlueBelle Wed 24-Dec-25 05:51:42

Oh dear that’s a bit of a comedy of errors Charleygirl🤣
Glad you’re ok anyway

Charleygirl5 Wed 24-Dec-25 05:08:29

Occasionally, I am awake for a couple of hours during the night, but last night I didn't shut an eye. I turned over in bed, which set off the Care alarm hanging around my neck. Somebody spoke to me and said an ambulance was on its way. She accepted that I was fine. Then I couldn't switch off the alarm, a repeat performance, but with difficulty explained I was fine and to cancel the fleet of ambulances. By then, I was wide awake and went downstairs.
Went to bed 30 mins later and my lymphoedematous legs started to itch so I attempted to sort that out, but no joy, hence downstairs, had a cup of coffee and a biscuit and am seriously thinking of switching on the heating and getting dressed.

grandMattie Wed 24-Dec-25 05:02:32

Perhaps she hates Christmas so much that it has been cancelled?

BlueBelle Wed 24-Dec-25 04:58:23

Morning all oh dearEsmay get well soon
What’s happened to Christmas ‘26 Cabbage you missing that one out altogether

mum2three Wed 24-Dec-25 04:51:21

Sorry to hear you're suffering Esmay. It's rotten luck being ill at Christmas, especially if you have family relying on you. I'm planning to get stocked up on pet food just in case I become ill and unable to go out. I have no-one to help me.
