Good morning to all the night owls
I m late waking this morning and seem to have missed my
3 am slot however 4.30 am will do ( 4 and a half hours is positively a very long sleep for me) who knows I might even drop of again for a doze before I get up at 6 ready for some work
So who s around ?

I think the secret is not to think about it Grandmatte not to try and analyse, just accept and go with the flow. I think the day you hold your hands up and think ok this is how it is, there are no answer, there are no reasons, and ITS OK, is the day it will start to get easier
That’s what I found ….acceptance no more worrying or looking for reasons just accept that like a bit of a droop on the old boobs and an inch or two on the waist, it is what it is

To my surprise, my 3am call and my refusal to “wake up”, resulted in a 430 waking.

I wish I understood why, however tired I am, or not, my sleep is so erratic. It is immaterial whether I have a nap, however busy I have been, how tired I am, what I’ve had to eat and when…

My brain is rarely spinning, and if it is it doesn’t seem to make any difference. I am very fortunate to have no pain either.

Is that the case for you folk?

Erica23 Tue 16-Dec-25 06:17:00

Morning. Yay 🎉 a good night here, asleep for 9 awake with mind racing at 3, never thought I’d go back to sleep but I did until 6 very good for me.
Good job. I’m going to the shops at 9 to pick up an order, then coffee with a friend. Then home to wrap presents. I might even get around to making a decent tea.

Pantglas2 Tue 16-Dec-25 04:44:02

👋☕️ morning all! I’m a pretty good sleeper most of the time, getting 7 hours unbroken sleep most nights but around once a month I have a rubbish one so I’ve come to join you…

Now that I’m awake and up, I’m sorting out To Buy and To Do lists for the run up to Christmas so don’t feel too bad about not getting my full complement- I bank on 50hours a week and tell myself it’s enough as I get older!

Hope things improve for those struggling nightly x

Good morning. I’m pleased to see 4ish on the clock again instead of 1 or 2. I’ve started writing a journal when I go to bed now instead of playing a game on the iPad, I wonder if that has anything to do with it , clearing my mind before I sleep!

travelsafar Tue 16-Dec-25 03:18:03

I fell asleep just after midnight and then was wide awake just after 2am. I laid there trying to get back to sleep then gave up knowing it just wasn't gonna happen!!! No reason for it....just one of those nights.

cornergran Tue 16-Dec-25 02:27:36

Not slept yet. It’s almost 2.30. I’m irritated as there’s a busy day ahead that should be enjoyable. I’ll struggle with the driving without some sleep. I’ll try again, my body just won’t relax. It seems new worries arrive every day and whirl around in my head once I stop being busy. I’ll try some meditation and see if the thoughts will quieten and allow the rest of me to sleep. Hope you drift off too roses.

I’ve had 3 hours sleep and am now wide awake, exasperating but not a lot I can do about it!
I had a busy day yesterday, mainly doing a good tidy up before putting up some decorations today while DH is out.
For some peculiar reason he’s going to Aberfan to take flowers, having never been there before and having never expressed anything about it, it seems very random to me and the family. He’ll be gone all day apparently.
I will get on with the big tidying session before the family comes for the weekend.

I've gone beyond that and can't get to sleep until about 6am! And then have to sleep till lunch time. Keep trying to get back into a better pattern. I did get to sleep by 11.30pm the other night but then woke at 3am! Was awake until 10am and then fell asleep as couldn't stay awake! Missing most of the daylight. I'm not very active and so just don't get tired enough by bedtime.

Like you grandMattie I woke suddenly just now mid a strange rather upsetting dream which left me with my heart racing.

Wide awake now and feeling calmer. It was just a dream, but it happens quite often and is unsettling.

I shall go downstairs and make a cup of coffee, open the back door and see what the morning is like. Roll on springtime.

JamesandJon33 Mon 15-Dec-25 06:34:48

Went to sleep at 9 and was awake at 11:30 for two hours. Apart from a trip to the bathroom at 3:10 , I slept until 6:30. Very strange.

Erica23 Mon 15-Dec-25 06:20:49

Morning. Not too bad last night, asleep for 10, then awake at midnight, then 3am. Up for good at 5. Really hoping once Christmas is over my sleep improves, I think the same thing happened last year, I need to write it down in my diary.

mum2three Mon 15-Dec-25 05:20:35

I'm also having strange dreams, possibly inspired by the books I've been reading. I have enough material to write a mystery thriller of my own.
I don't mind getting up early but it's a nuisance trying not to wake the neighbours.

grandMattie Mon 15-Dec-25 04:56:50

Awake for an hour, now having my morning cuppa.
I woke up very suddenly, discombobulated by the oddest of dreams, giving me palpitations.
The night is now over, so I’m doing the usual in bed - reading the papers, my book and drinking my (decaff) coffee!
Hope you lot get enough sleep, however patchy.

HelterSkelter1 Mon 15-Dec-25 04:44:24

Been awake for an hour. I made a lemon and honey hot drink as I have had a head cold for 2 days. Runny nose comes and goes. Nice and warm with a refilled hottie.

Will read for a while and hopefully fall asleep while reading which is what happens when I first go to bed.

Hope everyone gets bzck to zzzzzzzzźzz.

BlueBelle Mon 15-Dec-25 04:43:11

I’m happily awake had about 5 hours and that’s my norm
Now catching up with some daily games online
Happy day to everyone

Purplepixie Mon 15-Dec-25 04:18:51

Slept till 2.30am after going to bed at 11pm. Really good nights sleep the night before. DH in separate bedroom. Just wish I could get up and bake or vacuum or clean out a cupboard but I would wake him up. Downstairs now for a cuppa. Night night all. Arghhhhhhhh!

Sago Mon 15-Dec-25 04:14:00

Snoring husband!

I am drinking tea and thinking of sleeping on the sofa, we have plenty of bedrooms but they’re all made up for Xmas and NY guests.

rafichagran Mon 15-Dec-25 03:53:27

I am awake as well. Just can't sleep. I have had a hot drink and thinking of going back upstairs to try and sleep.

Mollygo Mon 15-Dec-25 03:36:27

02.05 wake up and now it’s 3.30. No idea why I’m awake but nothing seems to work. Looks like most are doing better. Slept well and 🤞🏼fingers crossed I’ll drop off soon.

Usedtobeblonde Mon 15-Dec-25 03:33:37

3:30am
No sleep at all yet after a much better night last night.
How unpredictable it all is.
I am just going with the flow, I have nothing on tomorrow so I can rest and sleep as I want.
However this may just be setting myself up for more of the same tonight.

Aveline Sun 14-Dec-25 08:30:48

JamesandJohn33 me too. I can't believe I slept through until 7 today yet other nights I'm awake umpteen times.
However, I never take a good night's sleep for granted and really appreciate it when it happens.

Usedtobeblonde Sun 14-Dec-25 07:22:46

Ditto to Erica
I had a really good night for me, three loo visits but cuddled down and back to sleep each time.
Been awake now about 15 minutes and will get a cuppa soon.
How much better I feel and approaching the day in a better frame of mind.

Erica23 Sun 14-Dec-25 06:46:01

Morning. After the awful night on Friday I slept better last night. Asleep for 8.30 woke at 12 and 2 but went straight back to sleep until 4, managed to stay in bed until 6.
Putting our Christmas tree up today with the help of our two grandchildren, so better get my weetabix 😂

grandMattie Sun 14-Dec-25 06:11:32

Me too, I had a few 💤.
And me too, there seems to be no rhyme or reason for when I have 6 hours and when I have 4!
All I know is that I don’t sleep especially well, and my night always ends from 3 am.
I do very occasionally, about once a month, have 1/2 an antihistamine which serves as sleeping pill.
