Good morning to all the night owls
I m late waking this morning and seem to have missed my
3 am slot however 4.30 am will do ( 4 and a half hours is positively a very long sleep for me) who knows I might even drop of again for a doze before I get up at 6 ready for some work
So who s around ?

Mollygo Sun 07-Dec-25 02:50:04

Hope you’re feeling better well before next Friday. Usedtobeblonde

No idea why I’m awake , but now o am, I’ll have a hot tea. That usually works despite the caffeine.

Usedtobeblonde Sun 07-Dec-25 02:06:12

Good morning.
My cold is getting better , just the residual cough now.
I was so tired that I was probably asleep about 7pm which meant of course I was awake about 9:30 and I haven’t been back to sleep.
I have given in and made a cup of tea and come here to see who else is around.
I haven’t been out since last Saturday and don’t feel up to chancing it yet.
It is so true that being older means you take longer to get over things but it was only a bad cold.
I have a meal out booked for next Friday, I hope to make that.

Good morning! 🙄
Two hours sleep and two hours later I’m still wide awake and fed up with myself.
I’ve had a hot drink and a biscuit, taken painkillers for my painful ankles and now I’m getting bored with being awake. I’m going to find a good book and give up trying to get back to sleep I think.
I might try those patches spanielcuddler.

BlueBelle Sat 06-Dec-25 12:41:44

Thanks spanielcuddler I ll look them up I m actually not unhappy with my sleep pattern as it’s been my familiar for so long but worth a read up

I don’t post on here because I avoid going online when I am awake in the night.
Last night I did not wake up! I slept from about 11.15 to 7 am!.

I think the big difference was because I was at home all evening and my last drink was before 9pm. I am out so many evenings for choirs that I need a cuppa when I get home about 10pm and am up for the loo and can’t get back to sleep as my mind works overtime.

BlueBelle Sat 06-Dec-25 07:18:43

I am so glad we are all here for a little chat in the night if needed sometimes knowing you’re not alone in the wee small hours and that you’re not unusual, helps
To all the up and downers ❤️

Nice to know I'm not the only one up and about early. At least I have plenty to keep me occupied until I can safely start making a noise.

Just after 4.30 now and have been awake for an hour as I am on steroids for pulmonary fibrosis disease. Steroids play havoc with sleep patterns, I have been taking them since Christmas 2021 and will always be on them. So I find things to do in the 3am awakening time without actually going downstairs. There’s almost always a good thread on here or mumsnet, I do my emails, and then read until it’s time to take my steroids and go downstairs and get on with the day. On steroid overdrive unfortunately because the energy they tell my brain I have isn’t matched with what my diseased body can actually physically do. Meds! There’s always a price to pay ☹️

mumofmadboys Sat 06-Dec-25 04:35:18

Another one who has been wide awake for two hours!

Liaise Sat 06-Dec-25 04:28:20

Good morning all. Had a better night last night. Slept till nearly six but am making up for it tonight and have been awake since 3 o’clock. I might read something on Mumsnet to see what is going on in their world. Were we like them once?

Esmay Sat 06-Dec-25 04:26:57

Woke up at four .
I woke up with a migraine yesterday - tablets got rid of the visual symptoms, but I had a headache for the rest of the day .
It wasn't a productive day - didn't go out and got nothing done at home .
I looked at the Christmas cards which I've not written and a bag of Christmas decorations which are ready for the garden .
Hopefully I'll get more done today and then sleep.

harrigran Sat 06-Dec-25 04:10:41

Second time this week I have been woken at 3 am with stomach pains. Lying in bed doesn't help so I have been downstairs and emptied the dishwasher, got something out of the freezer for dinner and made myself a cup of green tea.
Looked out of the window and I see my neighbour opposite has her light on as well.

JamesandJon33 Sat 06-Dec-25 03:53:02

I’ve been awake since just before 2. The rain battering on the windows woke me. I’ve read for a while and then played solitaire… I think I’ll give sleep a go now, thought I somehow don’t think it will work.

BlueBelle Sat 06-Dec-25 03:21:02

Gymsragran I can’t remember when I ever had a ‘whole’ night either, it is so long back, decades but I m warm and ok with it so I l cuddle down and see if there’s anything light on the radio My iPad is about to lose its charge so got to decide whether to go and find the lead or not bother yet
Big decisions

Gymstagran Sat 06-Dec-25 03:12:47

Im awake and hoping i will get some sleep later. Will read my book and stop scrolling. Its amazing how many of us struggle with sleeping . I cant remember the last time i slept through till early morning.

BlueBelle Sat 06-Dec-25 03:00:26

Morning all I m dead on time tonight 3 am and wide awake I see I m not alone I am warm and will try to get off again you never know I might be lucky and get another couple of hours I hope so my daughters taking me to my nearest city today for a look round I rarely go now but she offered so I took her up on it
I haven’t had any nightmares this time and I m fairly cosy so
I m hoping to drift off again Going and getting a drink would wake me up more so I never do that
Happy dozing

cornergran Sat 06-Dec-25 02:55:24

I’ve not slept yet and have retreated into the iPad. The temptation of three new books from the library won.

We had a day out by coach. With the exception of the coughing and sneezing from other passengers a good day, thoroughly enjoyed it. . Usually I drink little or no caffeine and definitely none after 12 noon. We ate early afternoon, Mr C returned from a very long queue with incredibly slow hot drink service looking very pleased with himself until it dawned. He’d bought ordinary coffee for us both. Oops. He looked so miserable what else could I do but drink it. I’ll probably nod off about 4, at least we had the foresight to tell Alexa to be quiet in the morning. I’m not too fussed, there’s no need for me to strain my brain on a Saturday, as long as I can navigate a supermarket all will be well.

Rest well everyone, even if you can’t sleep.

Grammaretto Sat 06-Dec-25 02:50:11

I'm awake too. 😔
Here I am browsing gransnet.
I may make myself a sleepy time tea or do my daily duolingo, or play scrabble online, or do a codeword, or listen to the radio, read my book, go to the loo, try yoga breathing to get back to sleep 😴

ferry23 Sat 06-Dec-25 02:37:41

Having watched all episodes of Hostage last night I've now resorted to The Traitors Australia. Been awake since just gone 2 🙁

Erica23 Sat 06-Dec-25 02:22:32

Well I’m having a rubbish night been awake now since 1am, I was going to find something to listen to on my iPad but my hearing aid batteries have gone, and I can’t be bothered to go downstairs for new ones , so here I am.
I didn’t have much tea, and now feeling peckish, maybe that’s the problem. Hope your all fast asleep.

BlueBelle Fri 05-Dec-25 18:34:20

What is in these patches SpanielC?
I m not keen on using ‘stuff’ to be honest but interested to know what it is

ferry23 Fri 05-Dec-25 18:02:59

Oh SpanielCuddler, I'm not surprised you've been struggling to sleep. I'm so sorry.

Thank you though for the tip about the patches. I have no trouble falling asleep, it's staying asleep that's my problem - shall give them a go.
