Good morning to all the night owls
I m late waking this morning and seem to have missed my
3 am slot however 4.30 am will do ( 4 and a half hours is positively a very long sleep for me) who knows I might even drop of again for a doze before I get up at 6 ready for some work
So who s around ?

SpanielCuddler Fri 05-Dec-25 17:44:03

@Greenfinch
Thanks so much. Brain stem tumour inoperable. Ten months from diagnosis, she was 25.

Greenfinch Fri 05-Dec-25 16:33:55

So sorry to hear about your daughter SpanielCuddler( lovely name) but pleased to hear that the patches work. Thanks for passing it on.

SpanielCuddler Fri 05-Dec-25 14:15:33

I’ve really struggled to get to sleep since our daughter died 5 years ago.
I’d wake frequently and struggle to get back to sleep. Lots of anxiety, flashbacks and grief.
This week I have tried sleep patches from the Wonderpatch after using their Immune patches.
I really can’t believe how well they work. It’s been 3 nights but I’ve been falling asleep and sleeping through the night!
I can highly recommend them.

I might have had a good night if it hadn’t been for the moon. The RAF, decided, as it was so bright, to practice night time soft area landing and take off on our local long, wide beach. This started at midnight with an enormous cargo aircraft doing circuits of the area. They pass directly over our house with a powerful deep drone. Six times in all.

I was awake for two hours at 3.30. The drafted cat trying to chew through my phone charger cord. I did nod off again till 7 ish but harsh words were exchanged with that naughty puss. He never bothers with the cord during the day!

Stirred a few times in the night. Awake for an hour between 3 and 4. Otherwise not too bad. You’ll laugh. I’m getting frustrated at lack of reading time now the iPad is banned in the night. Will I stick to it? Not sure although I am getting a little more sleep exhaustion levels are the same.

It's not always possible, room wise, but I've always had "my own bedroom" when I was with someone, with the option of sleeping (or not sleeping) there.

You can please yourself, then. have lights on. Have noise. Turn over and over a few times before settling...

I was awake at 12.30 goodness knows why, couldn’t get back to sleep until 3.30 then woke up for good at 7 am.
It’s going to be a long day, good job I only have the DGDs to pick up from school. . My Christmas tree is still in the hallway waiting to be put up, I think it might be there a while 🙄

Trish, I have tried everything, am now on reflexology, hasn’t cured my insomnia yet, but I am finding it fascinating.
I was up earlier than usual last night, about 12.30, it was a lovely bright night, I read for about an hour and a half and had some nighttime tea, my husband got up at 5.15, he usually has a shower and makes breakfast then wakes me, but I was already awake this morning, I’ll definitely be flagging at work today xx

trish29 Fri 05-Dec-25 05:41:03

I haven’t had any treatment for several months for various reasons and the 3 am waking has returned. My knees are creaking as well so I cant wait for my acupuncturist to return from China.

trish29 Fri 05-Dec-25 05:34:51

I’ve literally just tonight discovered the 3am crew. Is it a longstanding group?
I have a long, history of sleep problems, starting when the children were babies.
About 3 years ago I started seeing an acupuncturist for my arthritis and ended up being treated for my insomnia as well. waking in Traditional Chinese Medicine signifies an issue with your lungs which is associated with emotions such as grief, sadness or difficulty letting go.

Woke up at four .
Laughed at the festive gogglebox-we Brits can be so funny .
The thing that really made me laugh was Nigella and her oily balls . The reaction was hysterical and Jenny peed herself , which made it even funnier
Now it's Kakatoa East of Java - a silly bit of escapism .
I won't get back to sleep again .
I had a hot chocolate and am thinking about the mountain of chores that I need to do today .

It’s probably too late for me to go back to sleep. DH will be up in an hour or so to make my tea in bed, I might have to go back in for that. Then he’ll get the paper and grind the coffee and the day will start. I’m off to town, with a friend to see a film. I hope I can stay awake!

Greenfinch Fri 05-Dec-25 05:17:30

I didn’t go to bed until after midnight but still only managed a few hours sleep. Stuck on Wordle which is annoying but am enjoying the beautiful shining moon. I am going to read a chapter of Wuthering Heights which I am enjoying alongside the TV adaptation . I recently finished re-reading Jane Eyre. I do love the Brontës and am looking forward to watching the rest of the series in the next few weeks.

MayBee70 Fri 05-Dec-25 05:15:28

I’m back on instagram again now! So hopefully I can get back to sleep.

RosesandLilac Fri 05-Dec-25 05:14:21

Hi everyone, I’ve been awake for an hour or so, had a hot drink etc. I had a very strange dream about being killed but then reliving what lead up to it? It was the most bizarre one I’ve had in years! I was quite glad to wake up 😁
The moon was magnificent last night, I was quite mesmerised by it.
It’s raining here ( again).

mum2three Fri 05-Dec-25 05:05:45

Up early as usual, but it's still dark and cold. During the Summer, you can sit outside and join the birds. Some people leave their Christmas decorations on all night so the view from the window is pleasant, with all the flashing lights.

BlueBelle Fri 05-Dec-25 05:03:48

Morning folks I ve had a strange night, went to sleep easily about 11.30 then woke with a start at 12 15 had a nightmare I d dreamt I could hear someone knocking and had gone down to the front door ( I would never do that in the middle of the night) and there was a man trying to sell something.. I could hear him making a low noise so opened a curtain to look ( I don’t have curtains at my door) as I opened the curtain to peer his nose was pressed against the window and we were face to face I woke up screaming ( luckily the scream was in the dream and not out loud )
I very rarely get nightmares so no idea where that came from
Anyway I did manage to get back to sleep in the end and have had about 4 hours, so my normal
Now my iPad is out of charge so either got to go down and get my charger or get up ummmmm
Hope youve all fared better than me

grandMattie Fri 05-Dec-25 05:02:47

So sorry, MD70, it must be very difficult.
I’m just on Facebook which I barely use. I also try not to buy too much stuff, especially online. Sorry, sounds very humblebrag but genuinely isn’t.
Been awake for a couple of hours, had my first two drinks. Longish day ahead, but has space for a quick nap. Yippee 🙌

J52 Fri 05-Dec-25 04:53:56

Oh dear MB70, I don’t have either of those social media accounts so I can’t help you. Perhaps someone will come along to advise you.
Do you know why they lock people out?

MayBee70 Fri 05-Dec-25 04:37:47

I’ve just been locked out of my instagram account. After being locked out of Facebook I discovered instagram which I prefer anyway. No idea why it has happened. I have appealed but I did that with Facebook and wasn’t allowed back on. I buy so much stuff from instagram and get lots of exercises, recipes etc. Won’t be able to sleep now…

J52 Fri 05-Dec-25 04:35:08

Good morning all those awake. DH got up for the loo and woke me. He’s asleep now so I’m downstairs wide awake!
The moon is illuminating the garden, where it’s slightly frosty, so very beautiful.
I can hear a couple of cars pass, at least it’s warm indoors.

ferry23 Fri 05-Dec-25 04:34:27

I fell asleep in front of the TV around 10.30 and woke at 3 so that's probably my lot for tonight. At least I had got undressed earlier. Just watching episode 2 of Hostages on Netflix and debating if it's still too early for breakfast. confused

Wyllow3 Fri 05-Dec-25 04:25:06

Awake again, I've somehow hurt my eye, how I did it whilst asleep ...??? 4.5 hours.
